Tear Jerker / Passing Strange

  • Youth's mother's funeral, and his speech there.
Youth: Last night I woke in darkness and didn't know where I was. And so I just sat there, asking her questions...all night long. Like, how can I go on when the love that kept me aloft is gone? Well, now she's free. But now that she's left me, where am I to go? I gotta fill this void inside me now...
    • What make it worse is that during their final conversation, she's clearly trying to tell him she's dying and that she wants to spend the time she has left with him but he's just too self focused to pay attention to her.
  • Work The Wound has Youth looking completely miserable as he's driven off all of his friends and Desi. his mother is dead or dying by this point in the play, and he's utterly alone by himself in Naushouse on Christmas Day, wishing his mother would call him.
