Tear Jerker / Battlestar Galactica (1978)

• Adama's finding the picture of his wife, Ila, amongst the ruins of his home on Caprica, in the pilot episode:
  Adama: I'm sorry Ila... I was never there when it mattered. Never...
  • And a little later when Apollo comes in:
  Apollo: Maybe mother wasn't here.
  Adama: No, she was here. She was here.
  • "That, Mr. President... was my son."
  • Watching the Atlantia explode even as the crew fight desperately to save her. President Adar's last words make him very pitiable.
  Adar: (in tears) I have led the entire human race to ruin!
  • "You can fly with me anytime, little brother." Just to twist the knife a little bit, Apollo tells this to Zac, just before he dies.
  • When Apollo finally makes it to the bridge of the Galactica. He insists on going back out to escort Zac in. Adamantly stating that his brother was "all alone" out there. Only then does he learn that Zac had just been killed.
• Serina's death scene near the end of "Lost Planet of the Gods". In particular, when Apollo tries to comfort Boxey.
  Boxey: (now crying) I don't want her to go! I don't want her to go!
  Apollo: I know! But it's her body that's gone, Boxey, not her spirit, or her love for us. We’ll have that always. Forever.
  Boxey: I, I guess I won't make a very good warrior.
  Apollo: Oh, you'll make a fine warrior. Come on, son, let's go.
• From "Gun on Ice Planet Zero", watching Starbuck losing his temper with Giles. Who is packing up all of Cree's personal effects.
  Starbuck: Hey, uh, eh, Giles, what are you doing? Giles! (gets Giles attention) What are you doing?
  Giles: It's Colonel's orders. He told me to pack up all of Cree's personal effects.
  Starbuck: Wait, wait, wait, he's not dead. You don't stow a man’s gear until he's dead, and he's not dead!
  Giles: (startled) Okay, okay, he's not dead.
  Starbuck: (apologetic) Eh, Giles, I'm sorry.
  Giles: Hey, just... just forget it, Starbuck. I know how you feel.
• "War of the Gods", watching Count Iblis murder Apollo as if swatting a fly.
  Starbuck: Oh, my God, he's dead! He's dead. (glares at Iblis) You... you killed him!
• Surprisingly enough, Commander Kronus's death scene from "Take the Celestra" was very moving.
  Kronus: (to Apollo, after having been shot in the back struggles to breath) Captain, did we, do it?
  Apollo: We did it, Commander. (Kronus collapses and dies a moment later)
  • Later, a funeral is held in the Galactica launch bay. The same location where his award ceremony had been held just a day before.
