Tear Jerker / Arc Rise Fantasia

Go To

  • Walking around Antrax after it is attacked and taken over. The music is gut-wrenching, and listening to what the survivors (and even some of the soldiers) have to say. Even worse, this comes right after half your party betrays you and leaves and is followed by Zamuel dying. It's especially a Player Punch if you put in the effort to talk to the civilians beforehand, as you can then determine which ones died in the attack.
  • Zamuel's death. He is able to get the weight of the secret he'd been carrying for years off of his chest before passing on. It is also the only time in the game when L'Arc calls him "Master."
  • The entirety of Lascarde Skywalk thanks to Adele and Niko's deaths. The BGM doesn't help.
    • In the Japanese version, L'Arc of all people sounds like he's about to cry when he snaps and tells the Divine Race man to shut up and threatens to destroy him and the rest. There's also the fact that he never got to reconcile with either Adele or Niko, and a later scene with Freya reveals that he feels like it's his fault that Niko sacrificed himself.
    • Right after Alf delivers the killing blow to Ignacy, he simply stands there and takes a moment to cry for Adele. No words need to be said.
  • Overlapping with Heartwarming Moments, there's the ending, where L'Arc gets to hear the recorded messages his friends left him so that he wouldn't be lonely when he finally woke up, when you consider that at this point, they're all long dead, with the exception of Ryfia and presumably Cecille.
  • The nature of Allwise: Despite the fact that the late Dynos, Adele, and Niko get to join as a Guest-Star Party Member being more of a gameplay shtick than something that gets much focus or development, what with this being a Bonus Dungeon, it can still hurt, particularly when you think on it. It's essentially the reconciliation that Cecille never got with Dynos and L'Arc with Adele.
  • On a subsequent playthrough, all of L'Arc, Alf, and Adele's interactions as they reflect on their history together can suddenly hurt a lot more while traveling to Antrax, knowing what awaits at the end and that this is the last time they'll ever be that happy together again.
