TV Tropes The TV Show: Character Holding Bin
Welcome to the TV Tropes The TV Show Character Holding Bin. This is where we will be keeping all of our character info in a rather organized form so that we can slowly phase the character sheet into "official" information. The rules of entry are:
  • Sort characters alphabetically in the list.
  • Include all details you want to include about the character. This is the one source of information about your character.
  • Divide entries for original characters into four sections:
    • Who this character is: physical description, powers, etc. (If things ever change, go with the character's first appearance.)
    • Who this character was: Backstory from before this character's first appearance (which may or may not be the first season).
    • Who this character will be: character development you want to see and plots you would like to be involved in; if you don't know which season things come up in, don't worry about listing one.
    • Other random stuff. Though we welcome music suggestions for your character here, they will not be considered for the soundtrack unless you also put them here.
  • For fictional characters or for other people's original characters, add notes to the bottom with your name, so we can keep track of who wants what.
  • Don't bother adding season info unless you have a specific reason for including something during that season.

See also How To Write Season 1 for the most current information relevant to the first season.

Remember: this is a resource for the creative team, so there is no need to add spoiler text for anything other than humor purposes.

    The Adversary
Who He Thinks He Is Badass Archenemy of all that is good! Awesome fighter extraordinaire! The hottest villain the world has ever seen!

Who He Is Wrong Genre Savvy meets two different kinds of Joke Characters: While a genuinely very strong fighter, he is easily fooled and manipulated, making his defeat a very easy feat for anyone with more than two working neurons. Like a Puzzle Boss that has a very obvious solution but absolutely can't be defeated by any other way, essentially being an inversion of Weak, but Skilled.

He is Ambiguously Brown with an accent that no one can quite figure out. He is doing that on purpose to follow the Evil Foreigner trope and in fact may get confused and use multiple accents in a single sentence. His hair looks like he had slicked it back a while ago but whatever he used to do his hair-do is running out of juice, making it look spiky and messy but with most spikes pointing to the back of his head.

He dresses like a Rummage Sale Reject with whatever clothes he could get that made him look (in his mind) Badass, most prominently a lab coat he dyed red just so he could get a non-nerdy Badass Longcoat and a t-shirt that certifies him as a member of the evil organization "Aim- Cuh!" (Actually, the YMCA). He is also 5'8'', which may or may not end in many "shortie" jokes.

His power is being a Barrier Warrior, with the twist that his barriers are invisible. While he is theoretically capable of simply blocking out someone's larynx or blood vessels he deems that too mean and prefers to fight in the infinitely less useful yet equally stylish style of boxing, making two small shields around his hands as gauntlets. He isn't Made of Iron, but he has good enough reflexes to bring up small, localized shields around whatever are of his body he needs, unless he is distracted by something. His shields can also block psychokinesis and also have the Mundane Utility of being able to be used as a frying pan by holding the food with them while laying the barrier on top of fire. This is also a little clue to their only weakness: the shields cannot stop any kind of radiation. Since the other characters only tend to see him in a fight, he comes across as a Nigh Invulnerable idiot (much to the frustration of some of the tropers).

The Adversary appears to have the secondary power of being a living Care Bear Stare and siphoning away the good luck of every ill-intentioned being in close proximity to him. The apparent invulnerability and probability manipulation are intended to be the source of many Epileptic Trees over the course of the second and third seasons.

Who He Was Fan Dumb of many a Draco in Leather Pants before the little incident that kicked the plot off, he found his powers to be a blessing as they enabled him to cause as much havoc as he wanted!

Which amounts to maybe robbing a store or two for clothes, candy and maybe some video games.

Who He Will Be A one-man Unknown Rival / Team Rocket to the heroes and villains alike. He is extremely Wrong Genre Savvy and usually gets them backwards, and whenever he does get them right, he guesses the roles each hero and villain has in their teams completely wrong.

In Season 3, he teams up with the villains and after a bit of dog- kicking he realizes one Aesop that many people in the internet don't seem to get: After witnessing the atrocities of the real villains, he concludes Evil is a douchebag. He becomes The Atoner but doesn't get another costume as that would take him effort. He fights off some of the villains in what seems to be a Heroic Sacrifice, but later shows up in Season 4 as a cook in a local restaurant and without a scratch on him.

In Season 3, Mynah finally confirms that his power is to create invisible barriers, and that weird luck was, well, just that.

He may come back to action if there's ever a Gondor Calls for Aid in Season 4.

Other tl;dr version of all that:

Genuinely strong, kinda stupid ans easily exploitable naivete. Doesn't seem to really get Evil or indeed anything at all. Could be a powerful ally. Really likes speaking in metaphor and hyperbole despite being really bad (the good kind of bad) at both. Gets a lot more competent when fighting for the good guys.

    arks

Who He Is

Arks is a Polly Anna and Butt Monkey / Chew Toy who shows up every once in a while and offers to help the team. In fact, he seems to be very fixated on proving himself useful. However, it becomes obvious very quickly that he has little in the way of combat skill and gets beaten up rather quickly and frequently. He's also rather straightforward and bullheaded. His solution for any adversity seems to be to charge right in.

Appearance-wise, arks is a little over 5' and incredibly scrawny with little to no muscle definition. The least likely body type you'd expect for a Stone Wall. His hair is dark brown, almost black, cut in a medium length buzz cut. His eyes are brown and actually flash like a camera bulb whenever he gets what he thinks is a good idea, which doesn't happen a lot at first because he doesn't tend to think.

Arks' power is Nigh Invulverability of the Made of Iron type and nothing else. His invulnerability is to the point where can take an explosion to the face, be blown back 30 feet and only be lightly singed. Bullets and most other projectiles do almost nothing to him. While he can pass out after taking enough damage, it is unclear whether or how much he feels pain, since he never really gives any signs. As with most people who have this power, though, he's very vulnerable to light attacks, such as slaps and playful punches on the arm.

His lack of combat skills or above average strength means that the best way he can be used is to serve as a distraction. Even if he actively tries, the only way he can cause real damage is through sheer determination. For example, he may not be able to take down a door in a single hit or punch, but beat down the door enough and the wood will splinter.

Tends to disappear for small stretches of time. This is either because he got himself in a situation that will take a while to get out of (eaten by Cthulhu e.g.) or because he gets easily distracted. If the former happens, he will often come back and give just enough information about his ordeal to either confuse or Squick the people listening.

Idolizes Ironeye in a Fanboyish kind of way. Has a Catch Phrase: "I won't die, I can't die," which is usually used humorously, but can be put in different context to have different meaning.

He also seems to be one of the few people who will eat Karalora's cooking without complaining.

Who He Was

Arks grew up normally. He was very ambitious, but a few failures led him to become increasingly reclusive until he cut himself off from all human interaction. He is still very polite to people and shows a friendly personality underneath. During his time alone he would watch tv shows. The two things he latched on to were the old Looney Tunes shorts and superheroes. He admired the Looney Tunes for their straight-forward approach to everything. No matter what, they always attacked things head on, and shrugged off massive injuries as if they were nothing. He admired the superheroes for their tenacity, and often wondered what it would be like if he had a little more.

He wears glasses in the past, but not in the present.

(This part doesn't have to be shown right when he's introduced.)

Arks is busy ignoring the outside world when suddenly he's compelled to go outside. He resists the temptation at first, but the pull is too strong. He eventually gives up, leaves his glasses on the desk, and steps outside.

At first he's confused about the effects of the Convergence. He wanders aimlessly for a while wondering what's happening around him. While he's looking around, his house blows up, causing him to run away.

A little later, he's tired and weak willed. He stops in the middle of the street when something happens that would almost certainly cause his death. I like the idea of a huge slab of concrete falling on his head. He looks up at a noise, sees the slab falling, and instead of running, covers his head and closes his eyes. Just when the slab is about to hit, the screen goes black.

When he opens his eyes again, he's confused to see himself surrounded by small chunks of concrete. Not only is he still alive, he's uninjured. He picks up a piece of concrete and stares at it curiously. As he's distracted by this, he gets run over by a truck.

After he recovers, it begins to dawn on him what this means. What follows are a series of escalating tests to see what the limits of this ability are. It starts with shooting himself in the hand, and ends with an overkill explosion that takes down the building and ends with him coming Out of the Inferno unharmed with a large smile on his face.

After that, he just runs around town for a while with no thought about the consequences. Eventually he happens upon a battle. Watching the TV Tropes team fight sparks something inside him, and he decides no matter what, he's going to join the group.

Even though he made the decision to do so, and he had a new-found optimism, he still lacks the confidence to just go up and talk to them. It takes him a while to build up courage.

Who He Will Be

(When he joins the story)

His lack of confidence manifests itself early on as an overpowering need to feel useful. This often overrides common sense.

He starts out with no combat abilities and just gets beaten up most of the time, to the point that other characters decide to make fun of him. As he moves through the series, he gets better at fighting, and along with that doesn't try to get into the front as often.

During most of this transformation, he stays out of the fore, but is seen in the background fighting sometimes. At first, he gets beaten handily, but later is seen holding an enemy to a stalemate, then actually beating an enemy.

Later, the team realizes the advantages of his near invincibility, and often send him on what would otherwise be suicide rushes. Since his abilities improve, he's actually able to do some damage at this point. Also, though he still keeps his light-hearted and straight-forward personality, he's much more subdued. He also becomes a master of The Slow Walk.

In season 4 arks works with Saeglopur in HQ. The two form an Odd Couple sort of friendship.

Either at the end of season 4 or the beginning of season 5, some Phlebotinum is found which could help change the tide for everyone. Arks volunteers to go searching for it and teams up with one other person (I'm not sure who) to find it. It takes him all season to find it and during that time gets barely any screen time. Possibly his entire journey is summarized during a late season episode. This means he's not there when Saeglopur dies and has to hear about it second hand when he comes back.

Other

Names he uses for other characters:

  • The Adversary: "That guy"
  • Ironeye: "sir", "mister", "Mister Ironeye", or "Mister Ironeye, sir."
  • Furiko Maru: Most of the time: "Furiko" When she seems angry: "Miss Maru"
  • Karalora: (In her presense) "ma'am" (out of her presence) "Kara" (pronounced like the name Kara, ("care-a") even if it's incorrect)
  • Saeglopur: "Sae", or if he's feeling silly "'Glopur"
  • Bobby G: Is always called "Bobby G", never "Bobby"
  • Janitor: "Boss"
  • Kyler: "Ky"
  • Knightvision: Has trouble interacting with him. Refers to him as "it"

He has a strong crush on Furiko, but only her dere side. He views the tsun side with some amusement, so he tends to act shy around the dere and polite and friendly around the tsun.

He also feels a strong affection and respect toward Karalora, though it's not really shown whether or not it's romantic.

He thinks that Fawriel is cute, and openly says so a few times, but never really elaborates on that.

He thought Hikari was cute as well before he found out he was a guy. Now he doesn't feel much one way or the other, but that doesn't stop him from flirting with him (arks flirts with Hikari, in case that wasn't clear) (@Furiko: I wrote that before I saw your post. Great minds think alike, I guess). Arks is one of the few people who can bring Hikari down from his Knight Templar state, and he does it through the Power of Love Friendship

He's probably Heterosexual Life Partners with Sae.

Whoever he's paired with in season five would probably have some kind of relationship that will appeal to shippers. However, since any kind of interaction at all will appeal to shippers, (or sometimes no interaction at all) that's not saying much.

For some reason he treats Matrix with a sort of curt politeness, as opposed to the friendly politeness he uses with the rest of the cast. It's possible that something might be read into this.

    Bisected/Caro Contego

Who S/He/They Is/Are

Bisected (AKA Caro Contego) is a One Person Redshirt Army of Ambiguous Gender clad in Powered Armour. Best summed up as Power Rangers+Multiple Man*Redshirt Army. He or she has the ability to project hirself as multiple copies. Each copy is essentially the same person split over the different points in space. It's unknown how this is achieved but they appear to manifest different aspects of Caro's personality. Its unknown if the "original" Caro exists as one of them or as them all, as it were. Any of the 10 Bisecteds can be "manifested" at any given time, and any given Bisected can switch themselves out for another (remember, they are the same person). Each fragment is designated with a letter of the greek alphabet. Their armour is identical (apart from the colours) but each has a unique weapon. Under normal circumstances the armour the Caros wear is normally pastel coloured, becoming darker once they begin fighting. Its speculated that the extra Caros may be Clones attached to a hive mind (some of which are Opposite Sex Clones), but Caro is somewhat Silent on the subject. Personality wise the Caros are a group of Cloudcuckoolanders (having your thoughts spread over 10 entities does that). Once they begin fighting they become The Stoic. Caros never removes his/her/their amour and may or may not be capable of doing so. Their voice (only one given Caro speaks at any one time) varies from personality to personality but is always slightly faster than average. Gibberish is often their language of choice with word salads being served at regular intervals. When they aren't talking (which they may decide to do at any given time) they become a Cute Mute and pantomime everything. The name given to Caros as a collective is "Bisected". "Their" true name is unknown, with Caros being the nickname they were given and Contego their designation in the mysterious program that created them. Any amount of them (1-10) can be present at any given time.

Who S/He/They Was/Were

Very little of Bisected's past is known. All that is clear is that the human (gender and race unknown) they were based on is British and was in their early 20's or late teens at the time. Exactly who built their armour and experimented on them is unknown, although the cryogenic units 9 of the personalities were stored in may have originated from behind the fourth wall, neither the armour nor Bisected did.

Who S/He/They Will Be

Season 1: At some point Phi appears and begins searching for the rest of hir "mind", eventually finding them in the ruins of a lab just as the season ends. The now reunited Redshirt Army procede to get slaughtered in the season finale.

Season 2: They return inexplicably, claiming to have "respawned". Half way through the season s/he/they successfully activate the "defragmented mind" super mode. This simply shifts Bisected from Redshirt Army to a chronic Worf Effect sufferer and s/he/they remain as ineffective, being cleaved in two by the Bait-and-Switch Boss despite a Crowning Moment of Awesome against the apparent Monster of the Week (giving the first glimpse of what the original Bisected looks like without armour, from the remains. They recover in time for the grand finale. This pattern stays the same for the remaining seasons, whoever they end up working for. Or Does It...?

Season 3: Bisected finally restructures themselves into a single individual…but the personalities somehow do the same, creating a less hive minded but just as close redshirt army.

Other Stuff

Recovered notes for the "Contego" project are as follows.

Subject: Bisected, prototype 8
Background Check Results: Refer to document [non-legible]
Interactions: Subject has been nicknamed "Caro" by the other test subjects. Chances of achieving a fragmented mind seem acceptable, the possibility that it may refragment is as yet unknown. See below for suggested actions.
Equipment: Bisected has been equipped with prototype 8 armour. To allow full use of their manifestation skills. The specification has been outlined below;

  • Access to all type III "respawn" chambers, allowing them to resurrect in the case of the death of one or more of the personalities.
  • Drastically increased strength and agility
  • Sympathetic Healing and repair of other armour users.
  • Grade II close range energy blade, extendable from the right wrist.
  • A complimentary grade III deflector shield on the left wrist.

In addition each "personality" has been designated with a Greek letter and unique armour colour as well as being equipped thus;

Name Colour Special Equipment
Alpha Red 2 handed kinetic axe weapon.
Beta Orange Close range melee strike enhancer
Gamma Green Two handed monomolecular "scythe" bladed weapon, pincer coordination unit
Iota Brown Spear, teams up with Gamma for pincer attacks via co-ordination unit
Psi Purple A pair of short bladed weapons
Omega Grey Modified PYROIV Flamethrower with a distinctive fuel tank
Theta Blue Advanced Grade V deflector shield, supplementing the default generator
Pi Yellow Equipped with detonator and supply of C4 to compliment retained knowledge of explosive compounds and their use
Xi Constant Cloaking Unit Active Suit modified to allow for a unique grappling based martial art, retained from an unknown source
Phi Black Equipped with a Type X advanced scanner and Level 7 portable supercomputer, capable of gathering intelligence

Refragmentation Report: Subject may, if successful, merge the 10 personalities into a coherent mind granting drastically improved armour, sufficient energy to improve the blade to a Grade VIII energy sword (with complimentary shield) and, using the modular nature of the fragments' weapons, form a Heavy Electromagnetic Flettchette unit (3 inch bore) with an underslung anti-tank gun capable of launching M829 Shells using a sabot. However, for now the subject's mind is hopelessly separated, with detrimental effects to both their sanity and memory.

Closing Report: Subject has suffered a severe separation of their extra-spatial psyche, indicated by several of the manifested personas diverging in appearance from the base subject, in some cases becoming the opposite sex, different races and even, in one case, acquiring animal-like traits. Recommend that 9 personalities be placed in stasis, with personality Phi (which most resembles the original subject) taken elsewhere for training.

Personalities

All of the Bisecteds are Cloudcuckoolanders to some degree, however their personalities can be described thus;

  • Alpha - Aggressive.
  • Beta - Deadpan Snarker
  • Gamma - Ax Crazy, enjoys attacking the same target with Iota
  • Iota - Sadistic, enjoys having Gamma do his dirty work
  • Psi - Female voice, energetic, shows catlike behaviour (implied by the report to have manifested as a catgirl, underneath the armour)
  • Omega - Quiet and calculating, the most predictable personality. Hence why s/he was chosen to wield the flamethrower
  • Theta - Cowardly, favours defensive positions and encourages the collective to flee, outright begged for the shield.
  • Pi - Deadpan Snarker, a lot more of a "Dead Baby Comedy" type than Beta
  • Xi - Female voice, acts like a Clingy Jealous Girl towards the rest of the collective
  • Phi - Only Sane Man, the least insane of the bunch (not that this says much). This is Bisected's preferred form when only one is manifested.

Appearances without armour (SPOILER)
  • Actual Bisected: about 5'7", short light brown hair, blue/grey eyes, exceptionally pale and clad completely in blue. Androgynous, but still identifiably male.

  • Alpha - Constantly smiling, Bisected's enthusiasm.
  • Beta - Pale and rather frail looking. Represents Bisected's sense of humour.
  • Gamma - Heavily built always grimmaced. Bisected's rage. Takes orders/advice from Iota.
  • Iota - Dark and sinister, Bisected's dark impulses. An Evil Albino.
  • Psi - A teenage Asian catgirl, constantly smiling. Represents Bisected's sense of fun. Sometimes known as "Bis-chan" by the other personalities. Oddly doesn't look any smaller than the rest when armoured. May be annoying or endearing to the rest of the personalities, depending on how they feel.
  • Omega - Blank, neutral expression, dark skin. Bisected's stoicism.
  • Theta - Dark eyes, light build. Bisected's fear.
  • Pi - Smug grin, piercing gaze. Bisected's cynicism.
  • Xi - Female, eyes are constantly darting around. Represents Bisected's paranoia.
  • Phi - Almost identical to Bisected, but with very wide, staring eyes. Represents Bisected's drive to learn.

    Boris "Chaingun" Night
Who he is: Boris is a very large, pasty fellow with short brown hair. He wears combat fatigues, but often acts less like a soldier and more like a tactician. He will refer to himself and others in gaming terms, either to measure their power or determine their "class". He has the ability to fire bullets from his arms. He has the ability to change the size and firing rate of the bullets, but has a limited amount of ammo he can store at one time. He "reloads" after a period of around an hour has passed.

"Chaingun" is very blunt, making him bad at schemes and politics, but is a tactical genius on the field. He will often never step into battle himself if he believes that his own army can do the job for him, but can easily hold his own at mid- or long-range.

Backstory: Boris "Chaingun" Night was once an ordinary fellow. He went to work, ate lunch, and went home. He had nowhere up to go in life, but nowhere down. He wasn't fully happy, but he was somewhat content. Only one thing in the world held an interest for Boris, and that was wargaming. He was one of the greatest grognards ever seen, endlessly devising rules for the most detailed and complex–yet fun (for him, at least)–tabletop miniatures game even made. He worked on this project for a total of seven years. When he started nearing the end of creating the rules and backstory, he would stay up all night, with only Red Bulls to keep him company. One night, he finally finished. He had spent all of his vacation time on the project and worked, day in and day out, for a full week, but it was complete. The greatest wargame ever. He would finally be recognized for the genius he was! Fame and fortune would be his! He just had to save his file one last time... Suddenly, the Convergence struck. Boris awoke in his room, splayed out on the floor. Scorch marks were everywhere. He quickly jumped to his feet and stared at the molten mess that was once his computer. A deep sense of fear arising, he scrabbled at the lock for his closet. Opening the door, he looked in pain. All of his minis were gone. Soon after, he discovered that they had somehow fused into his body during the Convergence, giving him the ability to change his arms into guns with a thought. Although his days as a gamer were over, he had a new game to play. It was a game of TV Tropes. It just needed more dakka.

Role in story:

Boris makes his first appearance as a minor character in Season 4, acting as Tybalt's Dragon and holding up half the party before they can rejoin the final battle against Tybalt. He is eventually defeated and limps away. He has a larger role in Season 6, serving as commander of a majority of Xanatos' army after his earlier defeat. He holds up anyone who may interrupt the plan, but is defeated and is executed by Xanatos near the end of the season.

    Cody

Who He Is

Cody is a young man from Klamath Falls, Oregon. He is a little brash and quite mockingly sarcastic, often to the point of being a Deadpan Snarker. He also has slight bullying tendencies, as his insecurities and dislike of other people result in him giving his somewhat malicious sense of humour a free rein at times. Really, though, he's just after his teammates' approval. As a general rule, he envies other people, rather than respecting them; he also holds people he perceives to be lesser than himself with a degree of contempt.

Cody is, in theory, a fundamentalist Christian, but in practice his religion seldom influences his behaviour much. It's not something he often gives much thought to, but it does influence his perception of morality. He is well-intentioned and generally wishes to do the right thing, but increasingly finds himself unsure what the right thing is.

He has anger management problems, which stem from a repressive upbringing. He suppresses his emotions most of the time, but can sometimes snap unexpectedly at seemingly minor annoyances, in a wave of pent-up stress which can be quite alarming to observers. At these times, he can be quite unreasonable.

Cody's power is to generate his own personal Somebody Else's Problem field, making him an efficient spy. This is a constant property which he possesses - unless he is expected or draws attention to his presence, he will go completely unnoticed wherever he goes. This does not help his already low self-esteem in the slightest, nor his behaviour, as he will often act provocative or mocking just to make others notice him. More self-centred individuals keep forgetting that he even exists.

Cody's power gives him the ability to sneak up behind enemies unawares and attack them before they realise what has hit them. However, Cody dislikes using this method against foes of human level intelligence, and will attempt to attract their attention a moment before striking, as a matter of vaguely-defined principle.

Were it not for his power, Cody would not be terribly stealthy, as he is far from sneaky; indeed, his natural instincts would be to confront his enemies face-to-face. He is, however, sufficiently pragmatic to realise that his powers give him an edge in combat which he would be foolish not to exploit.

Cody owns a rifle, and is a fairly accurate shot. He is also decently skilled in close-range combat, and wields a knife.

Who He Was

Cody had a fairly sheltered upbringing. His parents were over-protective and strongly religious. They had very high standards of expected behaviour, which Cody could not possibly meet. Consequently, they constantly treated him like a child, which has left him with a strong desire to prove himself to others.

His parents have not been seen since the Convergence, and are presumed dead.

At school, Cody was something of a bully, who liked to make fun of the weaker and more easily intimidated of his peers. He threw his weight around, and got into a fair few fights. In class, Cody was a slightly above average student, although his parents' dismissive attitude towards his successes caused him to think otherwise.

Who He Will Be

Cody will mature gradually, making some friends among the Troper team as well as a few enemies. By the end of the series, he will have grown both in self-confidence and in respect for other people.

    Fawriel

Who he is

Fawriel is a pretty tall guy with a carpet worth of super-fluffy hair hanging down his head. He is usually seen with his Eyes Wide Shut and a serene smile on his face. The jury is still out on whether this makes him a happy simpleton, a Trickster, or something else.

Fawriel's role in the team is two-fold: On the one hand, he assists in battles, usually as a protector against onslaughts of smaller mooks or enemies who believe in the power of More Dakka.
His most important role, however, is as a mediator, counselor, and friend to everyone he deems a good person. As such, he'll often (try to) be a catalyst of positive Character Development in other characters by listening to them, much like Momo.

Aside from his own little character arc, which he shares with Matrix to a large extent, Fawriel's significance for the plot lies almost entirely in his relationships with other characters. As such, the writers are free to do with him as they see fit - however, his unconventional personality might be a little hard to explain. It might help to read Who he was first to understand the reasoning behind the following.

His motivation is the desire to be with people. As he has little binding him to the world but a vague feeling of loneliness and missing his family, he doesn't put much importance into material things, but rather invests himself fully into his love for the world and the people in it. The reason he fights alongside the people of TV Tropes is that he wants to protect the innocent, and found them to be (for the most part) a wonderful bunch of people.

Fawriel's behaviour could be described as mystifying, if one really wanted to go there. While his contentness, contemplativeness and air of silence might contribute to an image like the Buddha himself, his occasional bad jokes, ungraceful behaviour like picking his nose in public and general lack of understanding of social conventions do their part to put that image into doubt. Nonetheless, he spends most of his time calmly sitting on the sidelines, listening to people and the rest of world.
He might occasionally chime in on a conversation with an observation, which can range from genuine insight, to a Koan, to an Ice Cream Koan, to a bad pun to lighten the mood with. Otherwise, he will keep quiet unless approached, in which case he still prefers to show rather than tell, though he can be quite verbose and articulate if necessary.

(rest to be added at a later point, sorry ._.)

    Freezair For A Limited Time

Who She Is

Freezair is a human, possessing two X chromosones, and is somewhere in her 20's. She has long dark blonde hair and blue eyes, and is on the "round" side of things. She's also rather short. She is quiet and usually polite, as well as intelligent. However, she is extremely shy, and has quite a few self-confidence issues, which have only been exacerbated since the breakdown of the Fourth Wall. While she doesn't usually admit it, she is terrified of not being "smart enough," "strong enough," or "blank-enough" for the tropers, and lives in fear of being kicked out.

Her power is the ability to hold a suggestive and hypnotic sway over fictites. Through intense concentration, she can force a single fictite to obey some command of hers for a limited time. (Hence the name—she so often described her power as working "for a limited time" that others started calling her Freezair "For a Limited Time.") Her commands must be spoken. While this seems like a powerful ability, the concentration involved, the slowness with which it works, and its limited scope limit its combat usefulness. It is best used in one-on-one contact, or with fictites who are not causing havoc so much as annoyance. She also cannot force fictites to act balatantly OOC—while, for example, she could persuade Batman to not chase down the Joker (his mind would come up with a plausible reason for this), she couldn't force him to kill someone.

Due to the combat limits of her power, she works in the background as Mission Control, recording the day's events as well as cataloguing the behavior of certain fictites. She does mostly background work, and, being extremely shy, doesn't talk much to others. She does have a few friends, but is mostly withdrawn and quiet. You'll still see her around, though. She's That One Girl.

Who She Was

Shortly after the Breakdown, Freezair's main concerns were simply keeping her family and friends safe from fictites. Luckily, her encounters with them were mostly one-on-ones where she could actually put her skills to use, but as fictites began swarming the world, she found herself to be increasingly inadequate at helping her friends. For a time, she tried to help everyone she came across, but when the bank incident happened... Well, don't ask about the bank incident. It wasn't pleasant.

She eventually fell in with the tropers after an incident involving a set of 1930's cartoon characters and lactose intolerance, and initially, they saw some potential in her power. However, she lagged behind on missions (she's never been very athletic) and didn't end up contributing much. However, they still wanted to "keep her around," and she volunteered her administrative services. Now she does background work for them.

Who She Will Be

Her character arc will be about realizing her skills, gaining confidence, and coming out of her shell. In her Lower Deck Episode, she will get a chance to employ her skills—a fictite known for his long-winded Author Tracts is crashing speeches and preaching to school children, but not being actively violent. Realizing that she might come in handy, the tropers pull her "out of storage" and have her out-debate the tracter with a bit of Jedi Mind Trick thrown in, so the others can subdue him. This is the first step in her recovery, but the others have yet to be seen.

May or may not be part of a Fan Preferred Couple.

    Furiko Maru

Who She Is

Furiko is a young human woman of 168.2 cm/5'6" with waist-length wavy brown hair and eyes that appear blue at first but in direct sunlight are revealed to be grey. She speaks with a Torontonian accent which becomes more pronounced when she's excited, making some people assume she's American (or Australian, for some reason). Inclined by nature to be rather introverted, she compensates by being the Genki Girl of any conversation she's in. She is also a slightly paranoid depressive, which leads to most of her possible romantic relationships being... awkward. Her massive crush on Ironeye in S1 never went anywhere in part because of her stubborn refusal to be emotionally vulnerable in any way, and this is probably a good thing; she has some issues that she might want to sort out before getting involved with anybody.

Furiko pilots the origami mecha Knightvision, which due to their psychic link she thinks of as semi-sapient; she employs the pronoun 'he' or the affectionate nickname 'Knight' when discussing it, which creeps some of the other tropers out a little bit. Murky, as a woman who talks to a tree, sees it as something of a point of kinship - not that she'd ever tell Furiko.

Who She Was

Furiko used to live in Southern Ontario. A university student in the Greater Toronto Area, she was extremely lucky to have acquired her powers mere moments before the film incarnation of The Brotherhood tried to kill her and her fellow students. A pulse of thought/willpower, and the sentient-paper mecha that she later dubbed Knightvision had surrounded her like a second skin.

Furiko Maru's mother and sister live in the now-fortified city of Kingston, ON, which is under the protection of both the local military base and a dimensional-portal-closing talking cat and his human partner - don't ask. The good lady now manages an agricultural commune with the help of several escaped Neanderthals and the former citizens of Salterton.

Furiko's father was a Captain in the Canadian reserves and a part-time firefighter, and she is unwilling to discuss what happened to him or his side of the family with any of the other tropers.

Unable to enter Kingston armed and unwilling to abandon Knightvision, Furiko wandered in a state of disarray for a few days until receiving a mysterious invitation from Fast Eddie to join her fellow tropers.

Who She Will Be

It is later revealed that Furiko's powers came not from fiction, but from the unknown world beyond the Eighth Wall. Her ability to create something new out of nothing, rather than simply being made over by the Fic Force, alerted Xanatos to the possibility of a further Wall to be shattered and the godhood to be obtained beyond.

In the finale, Trope-tan's integration of the tropers' souls into Report Siht uses Furiko's life-making power to give The Chosen One physical form.

Other Stuff

Furiko's Powers: Can create and control life with her brain. This isn't as much of a whee-fun-god-mode power as it might appear at first; in the beginning she doesn't know she has it, and even after she does, it's not like she can go off creating entire armies without some major psychological repurcussions. Remember, she and Knightvision are mentally sync'd; anything that happens to him reverbs back to her, albeit with quite a bit less intensity. Now imagine dozens of such beings linked to her when they get blown apart. Yeah; it's not such a good power for humans to have.

Knightvision's Abilities: He can fold/bend himself to dodge attacks or shapeshift. His size can change to suit the situation (which could be important in a Transformers crossover show - if we have one - considering how infamously wonky the scale is throughout those series), and in a pinch he can serve as a set of wings. Furiko can grow a sword or gun out of the same substance he's composed of and charge it with qi/aether/whathaveyou, but they can carry and use 'real' weaponry. Knightvision's pretty damn fast (though it's in the air rather than on the ground that he's quickest) and is something of a Flying Brick.

Out of Knight, Furiko's just an asthmatic chick with a hammer and a smart mouth, so it's lucky he's just a thought away.

    Gabriel Salcedo

A stubborn loner who's secretly afraid of being alone. Is understanding to a fault.

Appearance

A tallish twenty-something year old. Somewhere on the lean side (without being scrawny). Has shortish black hair (often looking like it needs a haircut) and brown eyes. Often seen wearing denim pants, a vest, and hiking shoes.

Personality

He tends to come off as a loner. He doesn't like being bothered, and he prefers to be left alone. A good listener, but rarely talks. But beneath the facade lies a person who really does want to feel loved and appreciated. But since the world refuses to care about him, he tries to return the favor by minding his own business.

However, he can't resist watching what people do and trying understand their motivations. But purely as an observer: once he knows what's going on, he chooses not to interfere. Even without using his powers (see below), he's learned to guess what someone's thinking and what emotions they might be feeling, using body language and tone of voice. It's not always accurate, but it's usually close enough. A side effect of frequently trying to empathise with people is that it's hard for him to feel hatred for anyone. Perhaps the worst he's done so far is refuse to associate with someone.

Abilities and Skills

Staying out in the forest so long for so often has given him the skills needed to survive in the wild. He knows how to get around, what dangers to look out for, and where valuable resources (food, water, and shelter) might be found.

He's also learned to read a person's emotional state by their body language, tone of voice, etc. It's reasonably accurate, though there are times when he winds up making the wrong conclusion. It's also possible for a particularly skilled actor to trick him this way.

His degree in Mechanical Engineering gives him some skill at tinkering with devices with moving parts in them. If he can take something apart and see how it works, he might be able to fix it. He has a knack for MacGyvering up a device made out of whatever parts are on hand, a skill that comes in handy out in the wilderness where you can't carry around too much stuff.

Powers

He can establish a mindlink with any sentient consciousness he is physically aware of (even an artificial consciousness), allowing him to sense every thought, emotion, and physical sensation the target has. Note that this does not make him any more aware of his surroundings than a normal human. Unfortunately, it carries a dangerous aspect in that Your Mind Makes It Real, so if the target feels pain, so does he. And if the target is knocked unconscious or dies, he may suffer the same fate.

He feels that this power can easily be used to invade someone's privacy, so he's quite reluctant to use it on someone he knows unless it becomes very necessary to do so. He also knows how paranoid people can be around people with mindreading abilities, so he avoids telling anyone he even has powers.

Backstory (Pre-Convergence)

He was the middle child of 3. The older sister got all the praise from his parents, and the younger brother got all the fawning over. As a result, his parents didn't really pay a lot of attention to him, and he often felt forgotten. He grew up thinking the world doesn't care about him, so he often retreated to his own thoughts.

As soon as he was able, he got his own apartment at the edge of the city. He graduated from college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and was working in an entry-level position for a local company. He often used the weekends to go out to the forest to get away from the crowds and the noise, and during vacations he was able to go on extended hikes with a few books to pass the time.

When he realized that fictites were appearing in the real world, his first instinct was to head straight for the hills. The city was soon flattened to the ground, and the death toll was catastrophic (or so he heard). At the time, he didn't feel the need to check on his family. He left them for dead. At that point, he started wandering, not really sure what he was supposed to do at that point.

Backstory (Post-Convergence)

At one point during his wanderings, he met sickly young girl named Mynah, who pulled him aside and asked if he had any powers, claiming to see traces of a supernatural aura about him. With a bit of experimentation, they found out that the Convergence had given him Psychic Powers (see above). She reveals herself to be a member of an organization called "Section IV" and wants to hire him for a certain job. Since it pays for food and supplies, he accepted. His job was to keep track of a certain organization called TV Tropes, and to report back whatever information he could get.

Plot Points

  • Opens up to the team. He feels more appreciated, and in the process of working with the team, he starts to care about them. Which causes him to question his employer's motives.
  • Wants to avoid hurting someone, even though he's forced into a fight with them. Goes for combat training to learn to disarm someone and put them in a submission hold. Or something along those lines.
  • Discovers that his family is dead. He turns to the only people he has left, and treats them as a second family.

Other Miscellanea

Character Tics: Glancing at his right wrist when making a reference to time or to someone being early/late. This, despite the fact that he doesn't even wear a watch. Examples: "I'll meet you there in about *glance* an hour and a half." "*glance* What is taking them so long?"

    Hikari no Kaze

NEW ENTRY

Hikari no Kaze

Key Tropes:

Ordinary High School Student, The Corruption, Superpowered Evil Side, Wide-Eyed Idealist, Jade-Colored Glasses

Physical Attributes/Trivia:

Hikari is a seventeen-year old Ordinary High School Student from British Columbia, Canada. He is 5' 7'' and 160 pounds, with very dark hair and green eyes. His skin is slightly dark due to his Incan heritage.

He has been a nerd all his life, working his brain more than his body, and as such he isn't very well-muscled. His endurance is quite good, though, and he enjoys doing lots of long-distance running. He is (unsurprisingly, considering his age) extremely clumsy, and has poor depth perception if he isn't wearing his glasses (which is far too often). He is utterly useless at doing things that require manual precision (his hands tremble) unless he's practiced hard enough that they've become second nature. Despite this, years of doing yoga (specifically, the tree position) have given him a very good sense of balance, and he often slips into the tree when he's trying hard to think. He is especially good at keeping his balance on ice, usually not even slipping. On other slippery surfaces, he often slips, but rarely falls.

Mental Attributes/Trivia:

Hikari is highly intelligent and loves philosophy. However, he has little common sense and often does some rather stupid things without realising it. often wanders around in a daze, thinking and mumbling about whatever is currently on his mind. When he is present in our reality, however, he reacts and thinks quickly on his feet. He loves reading and will spend hours just poring over various books in multiple languages (he is French-fluent). He Will Not Tell a Lie, and any lightly edited truths that he tells tend to smack of Bad Liar. He has Chronic Hero Syndrome and believes in No One Gets Left Behind, being a Wide-Eyed Idealist and all. His greatest goal is to prevent loss of human life. However, when forced to choose between others and himself, he will save himself so that he can live and save other people. Of course, that's just his justification, and he really does it because like every sane creature on this planet, he doesn't want to die. Though this is very reasonable, he thinks that he's a coward because of it.

Backstory:

Hikari was just an ordinary high school student living in small-town mainland British Columbia until the day that fictites attacked his school. He found himself wishing that he had the power to defeat the fictites, and unfortunately for him, someone was listening. A demon of light saw his open mind and granted his wish, giving him the power to summon the Wind of Light, but at a price - the demon would now inhabit his body. After that, the demon took control and destroyed the fictites, along with whatever (and whoever) was in the way. After that, Hikari decided to leave civilisation (being a danger to others) and go join TV Tropes, deciding that he might be able to put his power to good use if only they would take him in. He is very concerned with saving people, and wishes only to do as much good as he can to offest the horrible things he did while under the demon's control. Of course, making good use of a demon-granted power is perhaps an... odd way of going about that.

Power:

Hikari can summon the Wind of Light, activated by weakening his natural mental barrier that protects him from the demon's influence and allowing the power to leak though. He gains different powers depending on how "open" his mind is to the demon:
  • Half-Open: The beginnings of the Wind begin to seep through. This manifests as a contollable wind. Due to its demonic nature, it can also be used to form Razor Wind. Hikari can freely change the speed, direction and "sharpness" of the wind. He cannot manipulate non-demonic wind, but can use the influence of the demonic wind to quiet ("scare away") natural wind. Prolonged use, as well as emotional stress, weaken his mental wall. Eventually, it could become...
  • Completely Open: In this state, the Wind of Light manifests on the material plane. It sets the air around Hikari on fire and blows, causing flaming wind to spread from Hikari's position. Afterwards, Hikari is completely under control of the demon for a time - the payment for the demon's gift. Hikari acquires a Battle Aura of light, and his physical abilities are drastically increased. In addition, his body becomes immortal: while the demon is directly controlling his body, he cannot die. If he experiences something lethal, his body is preserved and animated by the demon's vital force, only to die immediately after the possession is over. His mind is suppressed and his body becomes the demon's unthinking, unfeeling puppet. The demon normally uses his time in Hikari's body to ruin him emotionally by making him do things that he secretly wants to do, but that his sense of morality would never allow him to. Hikari's body, in this state, also gains full control over wind due to the demonic power flooding him. It is possible for Hikari's mind to awaken fromm its dormancy in this state, but it would require A LOT of Heroic Willpower and would probably only occur if something very important to Hikari emotionally was threatened, as the rush of emotion would temporarily awaken his conscious mind. Hikari remembers everything that happens while the demon is in control of him.

Development:

Hikari gradually becomes less of a Wide-Eyed Idealist as he slowly has to give up his concept of Black and White Morality for realism. He becomes completely disillusioned with the concepts of "good" and "evil", and eventually begins rejecting positive things as being ultimately pointless lies that humans enjoy clouding their vision with. He comes to believe that he is the only one who can see the truth, that the world is nothing but a hell full of deluded morons who have convinced themselves that they are happy, that good exists, that any creature in existence is anything more than scum. Effectively, he becomes a former Wide-Eyed Idealist who would have been much better off without the Jade-Colored Glasses. Whether he is saved from his depression by The Power of Friendship or something is probably best decided by someone in charge of tone. In the event that he is not, he dies unceremoniously after becoming too apathetic about fighting his evil side. He becomes the perfect demonic vessel, gives in to The Corruption and allows himself to be completely controlled by the demon, who allows him the use of his conscious mind during possession from then on. He and the demon then begin to carry out their now-shared agenda of putting as many of the incorrigibly deluded freaks inhabiting this world out of their misery as possible.

Hikari's character ending has been unofficially finalised. It will be submitted for official approval after the currently discussed plot stuff has been finalised.

Ironeye—see How To Write Season 1

    Jethro Q Walrustitty

A troper from Finland, relatively safe during the Convergence due to low frequency of powerfull Fictities in the area. Teams up with Fawriel to aide the TV tropes organiation.

Has an ambiguous relationship with Fawriel. The two form the team "Evolutionaries", with Fawriel as the Order, Jethro as the Chaotic.

Looks normal, but has improved powers due to the convergence. Has supernatural skills of unarmed combat, but also uses a pair of Sword Cutlass pistols. Also occationally emmits sparkles when it's funny. Also cooks some seriously awesome coffee, other hot beverages, and small desserts. Is in general, rahter clueless about the events and is often asking questions.

Starts out as Wide-Eyed Idealist, turns into Determinator towards Earn Your Happy Ending. Idealist, wishes the violence would stop soon, folds origami cranes (aiming for 1,000, and a wish for peace)

Due to his looks and orientation, is suspected to be in realtionship with various members of the team, both male and female.

First appearance in the show is kicking in a door, gun in both hands

    Jinxed

Who She Is

Jinxed is a 13-year-old who frequently gets mistaken for being younger. Not only that, but at 4'10", 70 lbs, with short brown hair, also tends to get mistaken for male. Her eye colour is brown on the outer irises and green on the inner irises. Her usual attire consists of a gray, long-sleeved shirt with the likeness of a teddy bear showing in front, white and green striped gloves, baggy blue jeans, and ratty black sneakers. She only has a minor role in the story, and is the Kid Appeal Character (types 1 and 3) making for an annoying, clumsy, snarky kid who won't shut or give up. Luckily for her, because she's so young, most everybody else is compelled to keep her safe, and her be part of the team. Her Convergence granted power is Walking Techbane. More specifically, if she just touches a standard laptop for a second, it will freeze or shut down. If, however, she were to hold it for about half an hour, the hard drive would become destroyed and the wires would short out.

Who She Was

Jinxed was playing Halo 3 when the Convergence struck. Her techbane powers manifested instantly. Surprised and frustrated at her X-Box suddenly shutting down, she grabbed it to try and decode what just happened. Eventually, she could smell burning plastic... Her X-Box was melting. She instantly dropped it in horror and yelled out. Her family also had no idea what happened to it. So, Jinxed decided to watch some TV. However, when she grabbed the remote, it wouldn't work. She slammed it on the ground in frustration and went to her laptop to surf the internet. It also didn't work. However, when her mother tried using it, it worked for her. It was then Jinxed realized that there was something wrong with her and not the electronics. She tried touching various things around the house, and none of them would turn on by her hand. From all this, she realized that she would never be able to touch anything technological ever again, and broke down crying. It was then that her brother threw her some cloth gloves to wear. She put them on, still crying, but then she realized that maybe, just maybe, with cloth between her and whatever machine she was touching... She turned on her laptop. It worked. All she had to do was make sure it wasn't touching her skin. But just then, roars were heard outside. Jinxed looked out there, and there were dinosaurs. Dinosaurs! They were destroying the town! All padded up, Jinxed and her family ran. As fast as they could. But in the confusion they got separated... And Jinxed was forced to wander alone, with only her determination to keep her going.

Who She Will Be

Jinxed is found by Fawriel, who recruits her into TV Tropes. Through this, she begins to see him as a father figure. She also begins to like Murky, since Murky's southern accent reminds Jinxed of her mother's. She starts to have a sibling rivalry of sorts with Hikari. She also gets in an odd relationship with Matrix, where she dotes on him when he is in Skitty form, but he dotes on her when he's in catboy form. Her arc is based around her trying to figure out how to properly control her destructive and chaotic power. Within this, she will take on some strong fictites, through her clumsiness, determination, and aforementioned power.

Ironeye's Note (approved by Jinxed): At at least one point in the show, Jinxed will get her hands on something explosive/incendiary. This will not be a good thing, since she's a bit of a pyro. Also, keep her away from the firecrackers, since she'd love to use them to wake up Matrix.

JinxedBlackcat's Note: Due to her time surviving alone in Europe until Faw finds her Jinxed has picked up some broken French, (minor) lockpicking and stealing skills. Also, her name is Kelly Chaser with Jinxed being her nickname due to clumsiness/powers.

    John A Dreams

Who He Is

John A Dreams is an almost 6’ tall human with a thin build. He has short-medium black hair and Perma Stubble. His eyes are green.

He will be a Master of Illusion somehow.

Who He Was

Who He Will Be

After C-Day he becomes a Master of Illusion somehow.

At some point in time he has to go beyond the fourth wall to complete a mission. While there he saw fantastic sights that could never exist in the real world and realized he liked this world better than the real world. Writers had been creating escapist worlds since they began to tell stories, only now could humans begin to actually escape to them.

When he returns to the real world he abandons his former alliances and starts a cult who’s goal is to escape the real world and live in the fantasy one. He becomes an antagonist who attempts to prevent the tropers/wikipedians from sealing up the fourth wall and breaks into the Fourthtress to modify it in order to open more portals.

    Karalora

Basic Description

Karalora is a human female, almost painfully ordinary in appearance—medium height, chunky build, brown hair and eyes, glasses, and no fashion sense to speak of—but quite keen of intellect. She is in her early thirties.

Personality-wise, Karalora is a Deadpan Snarker and a Mama Bear. She loves her teammates with the fierce love of family, and accordingly, she acts as the Team Mom, seeing to the team’s physical needs and keeping things generally organized. She prefers to multi-task, to the point where she gets twitchy if she doesn’t have at least two things to do at once.

Role and Powers

Karalora is a member of Furiko Maru's team and a main character for at least the first three seasons. Her function in the field is The Medic, with a side order of technological savvy thanks to her overall intelligence and meticulousness. Back at headquarters, she comes into her own as the Team Mom, doing most of the cooking and housework and maintaining a small vegetable and herb garden. (She draws the line, however, at cleaning up after the others—she accomplishes neatness in that area by badgering them, snarkily, until they do it themselves.)

The Convergence granted Karalora Healing Hands, though this power is not an infallible cure-all—she needs to be in a state of calm in order to use it (which can be difficult given the strong emotions she feels for her usual targets), and for anything worse than a superficial injury, she can only heal it about halfway every day. She backs it up with good old-fashioned first aid and home remedies.

Backstory

Karalora was an ordinary cog in the machine of the economy, living alone in a small apartment, until the Convergence hit. Despite her proximity to one of the ground zero locations (Los Angeles), she survived relatively unscathed through a combination of Genre Savvy, blind luck, and cowardice. She lost her entire family and circle of friends, however, which sent her into a (pre-) Heroic BSOD lasting for days as she wondered whether she could have saved them by being braver. She finally found the strength to look forward rather than back, and decided to do what she could for the rest of the world. Taking to the road in the hope of allying with friendly Fictites, she instead found Furiko Maru's team and discovered her powers. Thus Karalora found herself with a new family to take care of. She resolved not to lose them the way she lost her old family.

Character Development

The theme of Karalora's character arc is loss and the ways of dealing with it. Although she functions well on a day-to-day basis, in a sense she never really recovered from her grief at the deaths of her loved ones—instead, she found "replacements" for them in the TV Tropes team. Her devotion to the group is good in that it spurs her to take an active role in saving the world, but it also makes her somewhat clingy and causes her to take further losses especially hard. She must learn to accept that even though she can save the lives of her new family in a very direct fashion, their fates are not entirely in her hands; chance and especially their own choices play a larger role in determining their futures.

    Kathirynn Sandlot

Who She Is

  • Age: 21
  • Race: Human
  • Height: 5'4"
  • Weight: Just right.
  • Eyes: Blue * Violet * Red*
  • Hair: incredibly light blonde.
  • Paraphernalia: Oversize Blue Hair-bow, Thick frame glasses, and a pretty lab dress.
  • Powers: None, other than the most common, and her natural inventiveness.
  • Weakness: Her mental status swings wildly, depending wether she or her inner demon is in control.

Kathirynn is a Mad Scientist.

Who She Was

Kat was an inventive girl before the convergence hit and would invent crazy things. She would often visit the local aquarium to see her favorite squidlet, Theadore. After the convergence hit, Kat was unable to contact the rest of her family (she had already moved out their house) or her friends. Unable to think of what else to do, she went down to the local aquarium and was surprised to see that Theadore had gained a human level of intelligence.

Who She Will Be

Kat's story is one of coming to terms with her inner demon.

Kat's inner demon will eventually overcome her and she will defect over to the bad guys' side to wreak havoc on the tropers. It will be up to Theadore to convince them that Kat is worth saving. Of course, due to the fact that he can't actually talk little Theadore will have some trouble in the convincing them. It all culminates in a Battle in the Center of the Mind.

In the end, Kat will regain control and find her missing family. But she'll decide to stay with the tropers because she's had such a good time with them.

Other...

Kathirynn is almost always traveling with Theadore, a little squidlet who is often irritated or suspiscious and isn't afraid to state his opinions on matters. The problem is, he cannot actually talk, except in body language and color flashes with his chromatophors. Kathirynn would be devistated if Theadore died and her Super Powered Evil Side, Catherine Satana, would take control.

At some point during the show (probably Season 4), Kat loses her hand and foot during a mission and spends the rest of the season coming to terms with herself as she tries to build some replacement limbs. Her inner demon merely helps Kat escape from certain death. After the incident, she asks Kara for advice about what to do and talks to Vampire Buddha about how to deal with her new replacement limbs. She also tries to convince herself that she is still useful to the tropers, whom she now now thinks of more as friends.

    Korgmeister

Who He Is

Korgmeister stands at slightly over 6 foot. Solidly built but still obviously overweight. His head is oval shaped, with intense blue eyes and a pointy nose as his most standout features. Typically wears either a uniform or business suit, but wears outdoorsy clothing as "casual" wear. In all cases, wears a cowboy hat with colour varying depending on mood. He is bald but one can conclude from his eyebrows that his natural hair colour is dark blonde.

Power is Murphy's Lens - The ability to see the hidden flaw in a structure or plan. This ability operates with several limitations.
Firstly, the effectiveness of this ability is limited by the quality of information available about the target. An Org chart may allow the identification of a person who represents a critical "bottleneck" in an organisation. That person's resume can make it possible to determine what their hidden weakness is.
Secondly, Murphy's Lens does not enable Korgmeister to break people, only structures and plans. It can determine how to render someone useless to an antagonistic organisation. It cannot reduce them to a pile of human wreckage in a single blow.
Thirdly, Murphy's Lens deals with finding an easy way of destroying or disabling something, not necessarily the most elegant or the one with the most desirable consequences.
Fourthly, as a Grumpy Bear, Korgmeister may overlook things if he lets his emotions cloud his judgement or rejects that which doesn't conform to his view of the world.
These things aside, given the right information it is possible to use Murphy's Lens to bring down even a Xanatos Gambit. However, given the nature of the Xanatos Gambit, the method may be "Do not use Murphy's Lens" which may lead to its own difficulties.
Murphy's Lens can and should be used as a means of "torture testing" your own plans. If your plan that you failed to run by Korgmeister screwed up in a way he could have easily foreseen, he will not stop reminding you of it. Ever. He regards 90% of his job as being pre-emptive failure prevention. Of course, due to Unspoken Plan Guarantee this is probably going to happen a lot anyway, resulting in many Large Ham outbursts of indignation as to why bother to employ an advisor if nobody ever asks him to advise on anything before they do it.

Who He Was

Korgmeister will remark, with dark humour, that there is a certain sort of person who is useless until a crisis happens, that the TV Tropes staff is rife with them and he is no exception.

By his own admission, an ineffectual, overeducated dilletante prior to C-Day. Any who remark about his rather unusual taste in clothes will have an allusion made to a previous job in menswear. He prefers not to talk in much detail about his life prior to joining TV Tropes. In his more optimistic moods he will say that he seemed to be unconsciously preparing for his current role, in his more pessimistic ones, he will merely say that his old self was a failure and for all purposes a dead man.

His survival was to a certain extent a fluke of living in Australia, where the effects of C-Day were downright benign compared to other nations. His family survived the events of C-Day, although he has no strong relationship with any of them apart from his Genius Cripple mother. He does mention that his brother is a high-ranking officer in the Australian Army, however.

He was a draftee into the government disaster relief corps due to being male and fitting the rather loose definitions of "young" and "able bodied" which tend to exist during times of widespread disaster. Maintains that he always had the "Murphy's Lens" power, just that after C-Day it operated at previously unknown levels of effectiveness, to the extent where even his rather egotistical commanding officer noticed its usefulness in keeping people from getting killed.

At some point he came to the notice of intelligence organisations, during which there was an unspecified period between his transfer from the disaster relief corps to TV Tropes, which he claims he is not at liberty to speak about. Although he hints vaguely at attaining a relatively high security clearance level.

Who This Character Will Be

Functions as The Strategist in TV Tropes Mission Control. Works strictly on a Voice with an Internet Connection basis due to being a Non-Action Guy.

Is one of the few cynical members of the team, to the point of being a Grumpy Bear and at times undermining his own effectiveness as a team member. Will act as The Vegeta in a Vegeta And Kakarot with more idealistic members acting as the Kakarot. Is also frequently a Deadpan Snarker and also acts like The Snark Knight as an unfortunate consequence of his own power.

Despite this, a Face Heel Turn is off the cards. He regards villains as being impossible to work with, as they're either an Omnicidal Maniac with no good long term prospects to offer, or some manner of insane idealist chasing an unworkable vision of utopia.

Wants nothing more than a comfortable early retirement to being the ineffectual, overeducated dilletante he used to be, except an ineffectual, overeducated dilletante with a fat government pension. As he puts it "I'm willing to do the unspeakable to preserve the mundane pleasures of life".

Despite the serious nature of some aspects of his character, his Grumpy Bear tendencies will be mainly played for comedy, frequently engaging in colourful rants towards characters who try to embrace Honor Before Reason and Lampshade any Stupid Sacrifice. Then, just when it seems like he's the Only Sane Man, someone does something blindingly idealistic and it actually works, leaving Korgmeister to impotently fume at how ridiculously lucky some Tropers can be.

Exists throughout the whole series as a persistent background character, the most visible of the Mission Control personnel who lacks any actual commanding authority over the Tropers. Occasionally important to the plot but mainly there to provide commentary and humorous asides in order to save on the animation budget. Think of the Bridge Bunnies from Neon Genesis Evangelion and you'll get the general idea.

    Lull The Conqueror

Who He Is

Like most of the members of TV Tropes, Lull usually goes by a pseudonym. In his case, though, he's constantly going by different pseudonyms. Those who've associated him for a while (Jethro and Fawriel, as of the beginning of the plot) know him as Lull, which is the one name he uses consistently amoung his friends (and yes, he does occasionally add "The Conqueror"). He's quite physically imposing, standing 1.91m/6'3" tall and weighing in at 115kg/253lb. While not quite a bodybuilder, he's more "burly" than "fat." He has curly, shoulder-length brown hair, a booming voice, and a full beard, none of which diminishes his resemblance to a small bear. Nor to BRIAN BLESSED, for that matter.

He's extremely mercurial, and identifies himself as a devotee of Eris, goddess of Chaos. He claims to be a member, and sometimes the leader, of a small group called the Apostles of Discordia, but no one ever seems to have met another member of this group. His mood, mannerisms, and sometimes his accent change often, for any reason and often no reason at all, and he can immediately follow acts of borderline-sociopathic carnage and indifference with scenes of surprising emotional depth. Despite all this, he's extremely loyal to his friends, and will almost always protect those weaker than him, unless they're assholes.

Fights well when drunk, and capable of astounding feats of strength and endurance when he gets angry. Has been known to actually say "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Like most people, he gets angry more easily when he's drunk, which leads to an effect that may be deemed "synergy" or a "downward spiral," depending on whom you're asking. Is the beneficiary of serendipitious coincidence more often than you'd expect. He also has a "slippery mind" (a "mind like water," when he's in a Zen mood), which makes him resistant to mind-reading and Mind Control.

Who He Was

No one knows for sure. Lull cheerfully admits that his alleged past is a fabric of lies. He has at various times claimed to be (or to have been) a physician, a novelist, a professor of English Literature, Psychology, or Philosophy, an artist, a securities investor, a restauranteur, owner of an import/export business, and a number of other things. He makes no effort to keep his stories consistent.

At some point, it will be revealed that he lost someone (possibly several people) very dear to him in the days following the Convergence, but this is an extremely touchy subject for him, and he's not likely to ever do more than hint at it. Bringing it up again after he's asked you to drop the subject is a good way to make him go supercritical.

Who He Will Be

Lull is following his own goals, and is unlikely to formally join the team until, possibly, the last season or two. However, his goals will occasionally line up with those of the Tropers, and once he begins to consider the teams as a whole his Nakama, his goals are likely to come more and more into alignment with theirs.

He's likely to join with Xanatos for a time when he learns of the Eighth Wall, reasoning that bringing it down would make the world a much more interesting place in which to live. Upon learning of Xanatos and Trombley's apotheosis plan, though, his deep misotheism will lead him to switch sides once again (he considers himself a "fellow traveler" of Eris, not a "worshiper"). May take advantage of his resistance to mind-control and mind-reading by turning Double Agent at this point.

In the finale, he'll end up staying behind the Fourth Wall, immediately after finally confessing his love for Furiko Maru and sharing a First (and Last) Kiss. Tears will fall like rain.

    Matrix

Who He Is

Matrix is a pink-haired Bishōnen catboy of 5'8", 130lbs. His hair is somewhat thick, and covers his forehead. It goes down to mid-neck in the back. All around, it tends to curl at the ends. He does not have human ears, instead having pink feline ears on his head. As for his eyes, the outer 75% of his irises are green, while the remaining inner 25% of them are brown. His canine teeth are longer than a normal Human's. He has a slim build fitting of his felinity. He doesn't have human nails on his feet or hands, instead, he has retractable cat claws. Right above his buttocks there is a pink-furred feline tail. His attire is simple: A pink t-shirt, blue jeans with a belt, and white sneakers. In Skitty form he just looks like your average Skitty, except for a noticeable tuft of fur on top of his head.

As for his personality, he generally acts feline. He usually keeps his distance between himself and the others, if he's not doing anything else. When he is with the others, he's probably fooling around with Ironeye or trying to talk to Murky. On that note, he has a major crush on Murky, and has no qualms about stating that fact. However, her constant rejection of him due to her allergies is secretly making him depressed and angry. Sometimes, this shows through, and he starts to be act like an angry cat, sitting alone in a corner, hissing at anyone who comes near, and scratching those who don't heed the warning. When in Skitty form, he likes to do cute cat things, like play with yarn, or just curl up in somebody's (usually Karalora's) lap for cuddles, pets, and scritchies. He is also very energetic and optimistic. These tendencies make him The Chick of the team. In Skitty form, his place in the dynamic changes to Team Pet. Sometimes he just flat out disappears, usually around mealtimes... This is where his feline instinct starts to really kick in. When he disappears around mealtime, he's hunting. If he can catch something big like a deer, he might even bring it back to camp for a nice venison dinner. Usually, however, he just catches a rabbit or two and eats those. He also likes to say "Nyaaaaaa~!" a lot. Not every sentence, mind, but frequently.

Matrix likes himself. Matrix really likes himself. If he finds a mirror, expect him to be distracted by it for at least 10 seconds.

His Convergence-granted abilities include feline instincts and reflexes, so, for example, he always lands on all fours from drops the others probably wouldn't want to take. He also has feline night vision. His main power, though, is his ability to Transform into his Skitty form. His Skitty form has four moves from its game moveset. Sing, which makes anybody or anything in earshot capable of hearing it fall asleep; Assist, which randomly Megamans a Pokemon moves from his allies, based on their powers (for example, Assist would call a Water-type move like Surf or Hydro Pump from Murky Muse, based on her Hydrokinesis); Attract, which makes whoever or whatever it is used on fall in love with Matrix, but only if it's female, which has the effect of making them very hesitant to attack Matrix; and Doubleslap, which is Exactly What It Says on the Tin. He usually doesn't actually use Doubleslap in battle, it's mainly there for the lulz. His Ability as a Skitty is Cute Charm, which has the same effect as Attract, except it only activates when said female being physically attacks him.

When he transforms, he glows white and his shape changes while he's glowing. When he uses Assist, he jumps into the air with his right front paw forward, which glows before using the Assisted attack.

    mrsaturn

The Story of mrsaturn: He was not ready for the Convergence. He was not even awake. It was a cold, grey day in New England- you know, like any other day, except for the giant hole in space-time spewing hostile fictional characters.

He threw on his windbreaker and ran outside... and into a group of shady-looking folks. What exactly they were, nobody knows for sure- Mrsaturn keeps changing the story to include whatever particular Fictites he hates at the time- but we do know that they were looking for food and booty, and his house was prime looting material. He survived for about ten seconds.

One episode of Season 2 shows what has been happening in the area; some of the more annoying and minor Fictites are being picked off, one at a time, with no fingerprints or DNA residue let behind. It appears there is a Genre Shift going on here. We eventually see the monster responsible- a humanoid being made of soil, perfectly articulated and unflinching. However it is destroyed, whether by red lightsaber or EX-TER-MIN-AT-ION ray, it shows up again the next day, just as angry.

It eventually approaches the most dangerous, a telepathic Mary Sue who uses her abilities to keep herself safe and in luxury. It picks her up by the collar, ruining the Dramatic Wind her ribbons and bells were riding, and slams her into the wall.

She says, "There is a soul behind this beast... a human soul. I demand to hear your name."

It replies, "You're the first thing I've found to talk with in weeks, so I'll humor you. Do you remember the day you entered this world? How you killed everything in your path without mercy or regret?"

"You could not possibly mean..."

"Yes. You're being haunted. What did a Card-Carrying Villain like you expect?

"It is not like my death will bring you back... or even fix the Fourth Wall! There are many more like us out there, and we will succeed!

"Oh, give it up. It's not like that's going to stop me from bashing your beautiful little head in, you abberation."

"Really? Think for a second... all this senseless revenge killing, with no consecquences? The ability to never be permanently killed? And you call me a Sue! Listen, rock-beast... YOU Are The Demons!

It's stony face belies nothing, but a sense of understanding flashed through is mind. It loosens its grip, and begins to walk away. "If that's the case, then I, I don't know what to think anymore."

"One last thing," The Sue inqired. "You were... trying pretty hard to hide your real name from my mind. What would you... prefer to be called, then?"

"Well, I'm Earthbound, it said as it looked at its own packed-earth body, "So you can call me Mr. Saturn."

Personality and Appearance Besides being a translucent ghost, mrsaturn is a 6"1, 170 lb.-even-though-it-does-not-matter-anymore pale white guy with a face full of Perma Stubble (he literally cannot shave it, and it cannot grow), brown hair that hangs over his face, Big Ol' Eyebrows, and matching dark brown eyes with pronounced dark circles under them. He is wearing what he had on when he was still alive; grey sweatpants, a white T-shirt with inkstains, and a red-and-white windbreaker, left unzipped.

He truly wants to be friends with the others. Being invisible and unhearable is an obstacle to that. He is silent most of the time, but when he meets someone capable of talking to the dead, watch out. Being so isolated for so long has left him even more neurotic than he was pre-C-day, and will gladly complain about the plot to anyone who will (or more likely can) listen.

Who He Was mrsaturn was a supernerd who went on one Archive Binge after the other without pause- in other words, a total shoe-in for a Troper. He is of a Vague Age; He sounds like an adult but often acts like a teenager, although that might just be inability to die twice talking. His urge to absorb information constantly led to him thinking he had several first-aid, survival, and Le Parkour skills... which he has never had to use, and never did. He felt isolated from the world, even though it was only his own fault that he did not interact with anyone.

After the big event, New England became, for worse or even worse, a desolated wasteland skirting close to Lovecraft Country. mrsaturn technically counts as one of a handfull of human survivors from the particular area he is in; he has pretty much nothing left now. The ideal he has clung to is casting off that "technical" part and being alive again, an ideal dependant on something idealistic enough to Screw Destiny.

Explaining his Power Well... he's a ghost, reluctantly. Being incoporeal and invisible makes him a great reconnisance unit, although he needs a spectral notepad to follow the plot sometimes. It does not work on David Xanatos, though, 'cause he remembered to install a semi-ethereal boxing-glove-on-a-spring in his base.

Being a ghost does not let him fight bad guys (unless they are also ghosts), so he also has a little something called... Earth Possession. In laymen's terms, he can build himself a temporary host body out of any non-organic material on hand. So, he could not make a host out of wood or chicken nuggets, but sand, gravel, and stained glass are fair game. Each body is about the same size and shape as his living form (no rule about density, though), and has varying amounts of articulation based on the malleability of the material; sand and loam vessels can bend at inhuman angles, while a body carved directly out of the side of a concrete wall will have about as many joints as a Rock'em Sock'em Robot. They only take a few seconds to form, but appear crude- they have heads, but not exactly "faces", nor any means to vocalize, a drawback which pisses mrsaturn off to no end.

Due to the immense mental strain of making and maintaining a body, especially considering that he's nothing but mind at the moment, means that he can only have one body per day, with no rollover if he manages to keep one for over 24 hours. There are positive aspects to the bodies, though; they feel no pain, due to having no nerves or blood, so they can continue fighting until their structural integrity gives out. Also, Death Is a Slap on the Wrist to him, so he can afford to take stupid risks. He must keep in mind, though, that he is vulnerable to typical ghost-hunting gear such as holy water and Proton Packs.

And as for his actual hand-to-hand combat? Well, he appears to have taken karate lessons at one point, maybe. Having never had to fight anyone before and being generally unstoppable has made him rather lazy, and thus about an even match for an experienced, real-life martial artist.

His place in the story: mrsaturn's purpose is to show how precious life is. He wasted his life before C-day, spending most of his time on roleplaying forums. Now, with his life forcibly ripped from him, he wants it back, so he can use his precious few years as a mortal to their fullest. That is the basis of his power- he wanted, more than anything, to continue living. He also deals with his (now involuntary) isolation with the world, eventually finding a friend in Kyler Thatch.

Plot Stuff After his initial appearance in Season 2, mrsaturn begins as nothing more than a bloodthirsty, vengeful ghost. Like all tropers, he is Genre Savvy, but not enough; he thinks he is nothing more than a generic horror monster hunting hostile Fictites.

After he meets up with the team proper, though, Kyler Thatch senses his presence and establishes a telepathic bond with him. Being able to hold a conversation with another living person makes him open up much more, although he is still not quite sane. And not in the funny sense of insane, but the would-have-recurring-nightmares-if-he-could-physically-sleep kind. Eventually, the twitchiness dies down, leaving mrsaturn lucid and almost happy. Almost.

During Kyler's Day in the Limelight, he becomes even more withdrawn than usual. This bothers mrsaturn to no end, for he cannot bear to see another person suffer through the same isolation he faced, especially not voluntarily! After a pep talk in which he convinces Kyler that he is not his fucking khakis, and that this is his life, he begins to feel better.

Somewhere within a few episodes of the series finale, a strong dose of White Magic resurrects mrsaturn. With his voice and all five of his senses restored, but also having been Brought Down to Normal, he mostly just lounges around the Fourthtress indulging himself. That is, until the Fictite attack.

Afraid of losing his second life, he flees the scene, knowing all too well that Saeglopur would die. With that knowledge, he knows that Laser-Guided Karma will come to bite him in the ass, and openly accepts his fate. True enough, the prophecy is fulfilled when he runs into a platoon of Black Hole infantry, who are busy stomping up and down on houses. In an attempt to provoke them and Get On With It, he picks up a few Throw Away Guns, runs straight at them with no strategy... and survives. mrsaturn takes this as an omen, that he is supposed to live to see another day and not be an Emo Teen. He walks off into the horizon, determined to use his short life to its maximum potential. He is seen during the finale credits sequence, as the spokesperson for a charity of some kind.

    Murky Muse

Who She Is

Murky Muse is a human female with dark brown hair kept just above her shoulders and Blue Eyes. At 5'5" in height and 110 pounds in weight, she doesn't come off as particularly intimidating but don't let that fool you. She is skilled in a multitude of weapons (how she learned to use them all remains a mystery to her peers) and can manipulate water with a thought.

On Furiko Maru's team she acts as The Big Guy, and is somewhat of an Emotionless Girl. However, she does have a softer side hidden under her cold exterior. Murky Muse also speaks in a mild Dixie-land accent, constantly disagrees with Karalora on what a well-balanced diet is, and has Covert Pervert and Yaoi Fangirl tendencies.

Who She Was

Murky Muse was raised in a large, loving but screwed up family. She also had a a group of friends from highschool that have remained close despite going off in different directions.

On the day of the Convergence Murky Muse was attending college at a city on the Gulf Coast. The aftermath caused her family and friends to escape to where Murky Muse was. They then decided to go to South America by boat. Unfortunately the boat was attacked by a Sea Monster, and she was thrown overboard. To survive she gained water manipulation powers. Murky Muse later washed up on the shore of the island that the TV Tropes HQ is located on, making her the first troper besides Janitor.

Shortly after joining TV Tropes she was sent on a mission to England where she meet Bobby G and formed an Odd Friendship. He joined TV Tropes, and they became a team until Murky was promoted to Furiko Maru's team. On one mission something happened involving masking tape; both Murky Muse and Bobby G refuse to tell what exactly.

Who She Will Be

In season 1, Murky Muse focuses on the team's missions and her personal mission of finding her family. Murky quickly comes to see Hikari as a little brother of sorts. She also becomes attracted to Fawriel.

By season 2 she thinks of the team as her new Nakama, the later betrayals very painful for her. This makes her even more cynical causing her to close off from Furiko Maru and Karalora.

With Fawriel and the others joining the main team in season 3, Murky Muse begins to warm up again.

In season 4 the team encounters The World Tree, which Murky Muse is able to "talk" to. It turns out that her powers stem from its well-spring. With minor Fourth Wall Observer powers granted to her by The World Tree, she discovers that most of her family is alive; knowing that allows her to focus on defeating the villains.

Seasons 5-7: Murky Muse continues to be Badass while struggling with her connection to The World Tree, which occasionally threatens her mental health. In the series finale, she helps to create Report Siht.

Other Stuff

Leitmotif: Undertow by Yuki Kajiura and Gloomy Sunday by Rezso Seress.

    Pentadragon

Until I can get a chance to give this folder some effort, I'll be posting my essence. Terribly sorry, I shall update as soon as possible. Enjoy.

  • I would imagine that he would be a recurring minor character.
  • Serious
  • Pentadragon experiences an utter breakdown of the mind, body and 'soul' as the series goes on. His continual slaughter of innocent people to an unimaginable horror begin to affect him. It becomes difficult to keep up the illusion of being the saintly priest. Sleep becomes irregular. He has good intentions, but do the ends justify the means? It is toward the end (of his life) that he is confused by his own teachings (was there any truth in them?), his research takes a backseat and he begins to gain questionable allies. Of course he refuses to acknowledge this last one, citing that it is merely temporary.

  • He has somehow managed to convince a whole slew of people to sacrifice themselves for him. Pentadragon is dealing with an impossible being from behind the eighth wall to further his own studies. Oh yes, the man is crazy prepared. However, as things progress it becomes to more crazy than anything.
    • He was friends with Bobby G before the Convergence. He and the Tropers had a slight disagreement so the two 'mutually parted.' By mutually parted I mean he probably got kicked out.
    • He is in close contact to a Cosmic Horror.
    • Pentadragon presents himself in two different ways. First is Pentadragon the priest, the kind, charismatic fellow leading muggles to their doom and Pentadragon the scientist, who is trying to reconstruct a fourth wall.

  • Ends vs. Means, Sacrifice, Humanity vs. Inhumanity, start of darkness, the emptiness of conventional expectations and the multiplying effects of selfishness.
  • Eyes, delicious tea, the number three

    Saeglopur

Who He Is:

Saeglopur is a human male, 18 years old (but mentally middle-aged), 6ft exactly and overweight. He has brown hair which comes down to his eyes at the front and down as far as the base of his neck at the back, and grey-blue eyes. He wears glasses with stylish black frames, a fairly long black coat which he always has buttoned/zipped completely to the top, obscuring his lower chin, and black trousers/shoes. His speaking voice is rural South West British. Personality wise, he comes off as slightly Stoic and a bit of Grumpy Old Man to those who don't know him very well, i.e. most people. Although these are elements of his personality, he is also a Deadpan Snarker, in a very witty and British fashion, and to those who know him very well he is trustworthy, loyal and kind. He sometimes verges into being The Philosopher. Importantly, he is a Christian and a Pacifist, making him a steadfast Non-Action Guy.

Who He Was:

Saeglopur was born and raised in a backwater town in South West England, attending a public school which was also attended by Bobby G, although they were only acquaintances. Although not too heavily affected by C-Day (give or take the odd fictite attack), he wants to make a difference. He hastily constructs some defences around his house and starts researching the fictites. During this time, Bobby G gets back in contact with Sae, needing information for his mission to fight the fictites in the South West. After a while, it becomes clear that Sae's defences won't last much longer, and the number of attacks steadily increases. He transmits a message, explaining his research, his situation and his need for help, over a radio frequency on a constant loop. The tropers pick up this signal and come to his aid, enlisting him as a researcher.

Who He Will Be:

Early on, Saeglopur is a background character in HQ, mostly heard over a communications device offering helpful information on combatting the Monster of the Week. He actually shows up relatively few times until a Lower Deck Episode, in which more is learnt about Saeglopur and his Christian faith. He is accused by other characters of hiding behind his faith to cover up his cowardice. He begins to doubt himself, wondering whether they're right and what his purpose is. Of course, he's not quite a coward...

Saeglopur uses the database and original sources to research the creatures that TV Tropes are combatting, and he becomes a Giles-esque character, memorising the strengths and weaknesses of many Fictites. He becomes gradually more useful to the team and is eventually offered the role of Mission Control. Although he wonders if this conflicts with his morals, he accepts. Of course, the more involved he gets with the action, the less confident he is with his faith. Saeglopur is joined in HQ by arks, and the two become friends, despite their differences.

This state of affairs continues until one of the later seasons, when Sae suffers a breakdown, due to the conflict between his work and his faith, and abandons the tropers to spend some time thinking things over. The team are unserstandably not very happy with this , and someone goes to snap him out of it. Sae realises that it is more important to do what is right than to stick constantly to a rigid moral code.

Not much later, the base is suddenly attacked by fictites while the team are absent, and only Saeglopur is there to defend. Forced into action, he mounts a valiant Last Stand, fighting the enemy with makeshift weapons. He manages to hold out until the team returns, but just as they arrive, he is killed. Despite breaking his code of pacifism, Saeglopur dies happy, knowing he did the right thing. He is given a Christian funeral, at which the tropers (with the exception of arks) realise just how little they really knew him.

    Section IV

Section IV wants to gain influence and eventually control the world by knowing everything about everything. Similarly, they're also working to keep everyone else in the dark. They deal in equal parts information and disinformation. Knowledge is strength, and they have every intention of using it to their advantage.

Kyler Thatch

(see character profile for details)

Mynah Murray

  • Martin's little sister. Seems to be fond of playful sarcasm. Is more genki than her older brother.
  • One of the "puppet-string members"; believes the organization wants to help out the Big Damn Heroes
  • Power: Aura Sense. Allows her to sense the magical aura of any object or person she can see, but it drains her vitality. At the lowest strength, she can sense that "there's stuff here", but her immune system is weakened as a consequence. At the highest setting, she can pinpoint more or less the exact properties of a given thing (and six hours later, she gets a high fever and is effectively out of commission for a week or so). She can't turn it off completely, though, so she's always a bit sickly as a consequence.

Before the Convergence, the Murray family lived their happy but otherwise non-descript lives in the suburbs. But things took a turn for the worse when C-day hit and fictites wreaked havoc all over the place, claiming the lives of both parents and leaving the siblings to fend for themselves.

Mynah's power began to manifest about a week after C-day, when she started "seeing things on top of... things". She could sense a magical aura on things she could see with her own eyes, and found that she was able to focus and intensify the power to allow her to determine the magical properties of a given object or person with pinpoint accuracy. However, she quickly learned that the power comes with a price: using her aura sense makes her ill. The greater the intensity she used, the worse the sickness becomes. About six hours after testing her powers at full strength, Mynah looked as though she'd gotten the flu, and couldn't get out of bed for a week afterwards. What's worse, there was no way to turn the power off completely.

While this leaves her physically handicapped, she makes up for it with optimistic cheer. She doesn't let anything get her down, and tries to share a sense of encouragement to people she interacts with.

Martin Murray

  • Mynah's big brother. Shares Mynah's brand of sarcasm, but is the more serious of the two siblings.
  • One of the few real members of Section IV, working to expand their influence in the world
  • Power: involuntary Empathic Healer. Anyone he touches is slowly cured of any injury or illness, but he absorbs whatever ill effects he heals in this process. This happens whether Martin wants it to or not, as long as he's in contact with another person.

Martin was a college student before the Convergence, a Political Science major with a bit of Behavioral Studies on the side. His friends knew him as the ambitious type, always seeking to expand his sphere of influence. That was when C-day came and turned everything upside down. His position in the student council rendered meaningless, his home a pile of rubble, and his parents... "taken away". It took several weeks to adjust, but with his parents gone, Martin felt compelled to look after his kid sister, so he forced himself to stay strong for her sake. He learned about his healing powers while he was tending to Mynah's mysterious illness.

His hunger for power still gnawed at him, so when he was recruited for Section IV, he practically jumped at the call. Using the skills he developed in his college years (people skills, especially), he quickly climbed up to the top of the heirarchy, becoming the de facto leader of Section IV. He has distinct megalomaniac tendencies, evident in the way he handles the secretive organization.

While sharing his sister's brand of playful sarcasm, he tends to be more serious, especially when talking business. Martin much prefers to get straight to the point, quickly springing to action rather than waiting for detailed analysis. When in doubt, he tends to go with his gut feeling.

Adrian

  • Power: Ability to see all possible futures for a person by looking into their eyes. Not very accurate, since he can't process all the information he's given and usually only comprehends the most likely events. Also, he has trouble differentiating the futures from the present, which leads to him being time confused. Since he is not that accurate and nothing he sees is guaranteed to happen, his predictions often are treated as Cassandra Untruths.

Jim

  • An arrogant smartass, who actually is smart, but not as smart as he thinks he is.
  • Power: Remote viewing, being able to see beyond his senses as long as he knows where to look. There are two drawbacks: he can't hear beyond his senses, and can't lip read to any great extent. Also, when he's using his power, he loses his regular sight.

Eva Medina

  • Backstory: Before C-Day, Eva Medina was a professional dancer, though not one of any particular renown. After the Convergence, she discovered her power while practicing and used it to catapult herself into stardom after the Master retook Britain. These days, she's got quite a bit of star power to throw around, which she uses as a spy for Section IV.
  • Eva is a perfectionist, but benevolent. She does not know the true purpose of Section IV.
  • Power: Able to create Design Student's Orgasm by dancing. Used to put on performances that cannot be replicated by anyone else, and can be used to cause confusion in a pinch.

Lillian Fairchild

As a child, she learned that being in the spotlight was a bad thing. That people wanted to manipulate and control her for their own purposes. Since then, Lillian did whatever she could to avoid anything that would attract attention. She hid both her strong points and her weaknesses, dressed like the average person did, and made just enough "friends" so that she couldn't be typecast as the loner. At the same time, she spent her time studying people, how they acted, and why. Lillian believed that if she could control people, tugging at the same strings they used to control her before, then they couldn't be a threat.

One day, the Convergence came, and with it sprang up a mysterious organization called Section IV. She decided to side herself with their group, knowing that they aimed to control the workings of the world, rather than to be one of the unknowing sheep. Staying true to her principle of avoiding too much attention, she stuck with the lowly desk job, yet from there she could see the organizational structure, and learn about the people in it. If she wanted to, she could manipulate one of the agents with the right choice of words at just the right time.

Jasper

  • Former med student who does medical work for the group
  • Always uptight, following protocol that only he knows
  • Tends to be rational, but he is never cold or unemotional

Celeste St-Pierre

This French woman has the ability to bend light around her. Thus, she can make herself invisible, but she can't navigate via sight while invisible, because none of this bent light is reaching her eyes. If she absolutely has to see, she can not bend the light around her eyes, but this of course makes them visible. She is a reserved woman who likes to uses her power to shut herself away from the world.

Her battle tactics tend to be her making herself invisible and hiding somewhere to prepare explosives to place somewhere or throw at her enemies. So, basically, hit-and-run.

Physical description: 5'7, brown hair, brown eyes.

Madeleine Richter

A no-nonsense Lady of War, has impeccable aim with a variety of firearms, favors the SIG P228. Has some pull with local law enforcement, possibly some sort of former military officer who's several years retired.

Don't call her "Maddie".

Alex Prendergast

A New Zealand-born computer nerd and hacker. After C-Day, Alex basically gained Hollywood Hacking skills, as well as the ability to operate any operating system, manipulate any piece of software at any level from binary up, and design programmes to do things that are not possible with today's technology.

Alex is also a recluse and insufferable jerkass who the others only keep around due to Alex's usefulness in gathering information and throwing their enemies off their scent.

Alex's long hair, slight build, and high-pitched voice lead most people to conclude that Alex is a woman, but he is actually a man. This fact would most likely be concealed from the viewers until Section IV is brought down.

Mark West

A career soldier, Mark West spent 20 years in the British army, including 15 as a member of the SAS. After this, he got a job in Washington DC as an advisor for a Private Military Contractor. When C-Day struck, he used his skills to escape from Washington, and was eventually recruited by Section IV.

He is a Power Nullifier, capable of consciously supressing the abilities of any human or Half-Human Hybrid, both real and fictional - although he is only strong enough to nullify one target at a time, and that target must be close by. Because of this, and his combat skills from his days in the SAS, he is usually sent to take out some of the more powerful individuals that Section IV (and by extension, the Dark Lodge) considers a threat. Should he need backup, he has contacts in what remains of his PMC that can provide more equipment or manpower if and when he needs them.

Stephen Sheffield

A reserved young man in his early twenties, Stephen was a college sophomore at the time of the Convergence, and was (and, to an extent, still is) Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life. His family lived near a city hit hard by the Convergence and he has had no word of any of them since. He originally joined Section IV in the hopes of using its resources to try to locate them, but has been putting that goal off continually for fear of what he might find out.

Stephen is intelligent and observational, but when left to his own devices he tends to spend a lot of time playing Solitaire. He opens up considerably in the presence of close acquaintances but otherwise tends to entirely keep to himself. In either circumstance, he is effusively polite, and dislikes confrontation in all its forms.

Physical activity is not his forte. He is of slightly below average height (about 5'8") and built like a twig. He likes to wear a dress shirt and khakis whenever possible, as well as his favorite overcoat (not at all badass, but in fact more of a Security Blanket), which he wears in all but the hottest weather.

Stephen is True Neutral, albeit of a relatively benign streak.

Jon Hayden

Loud, brash, and frequently rude and short-tempered man of 25, Jon is a simple man with simple tastes. Namely, he likes to fight. He grew up in a low-income family and in a less-than-pleasant neighborhood, but could nevertheless have had a much easier childhood had he not constantly picked fights with his peers and authority figures. Fortunately for him, he eventually learned some degree of restraint and discipline from formal martial arts training, but he's still perpetually ready to throw the first punch if an encounter looks like it's headed that way.

Jon was training to become a professional boxer prior to the Covergence. Sometime during the chaotic aftermath of the event, his (dominant) right hand and leg were crushed under falling debris. A timely manifestation of his power (see below) was the only thing that saved his life. Despite having received physical therapy from Jasper for a year, he still walks with a cane. Having had some time to cope with the disability, he is still less proficient in physical combat than he was before the accident, but much more proficient than he appears.

Jon is tall (perhaps 6'2") and fairly muscular. He has a tendency to say whatever comes to his mind without really thinking it through beforehand, causing some to praise him for his candidness and others to bemoan his frequent social ineptitude. He favors the direct solution to almost any problem, especially if that solution is a fist to the jaw. While not stupid, he is only of average intelligence and his aforementioned predilection to act before thinking has a tendency to cause more problems for him than it solves. He is, in short, a Boisterous Bruiser of the highest order. To those who get to know him properly, he's also a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.

Jon and Stephen met shortly after Jon's accident. Stephen helped free Jon from the rubble, and despite being the one with two crippled limbs, Jon declared he would "look out for him" in return. The two traveled together for a while longer, and when Stephen decided to join Section IV, Jon came with him.

Jon is Chaotic Neutral in most of what he does, but has a great deal of personal loyalty towards Stephen.

& ("Ampersand")

A gifted cryptanalyst, and a bit of a Playful Hacker. Not nearly as skilled as Alex when it comes to hacking, though, so they're usually paired up on a job. Quite hyperactive, and likes to ham it up every so often. Playfully flirts with Anything That Moves, but nobody's really sure whether she's serious or not.

No one at Section IV knows what her real name is. Though some suspect "&" is her real name...

Luther

A boyishly handsome fellow with the power to "hitch a ride" in someone else's mind and perceive what they perceive with their five senses. Allows no mind-reading or mind control, and he loses control of his own body while he does it. He must be able to clearly see the eyes of the person he wants to meld with, so that he can mentally re-orient his visual field to match theirs, and then the rest follows. Once "aboard, " he can stay for up to an hour, but he never knows exactly how long it will be before he loses contact.

Luther uses his good looks to feign that he is a "himbo". But he actually has quite an insightful mind, possibly because his ability to literally see things from a different point of view has given him practice thinking about things in more than one way.

Owen Harper

  • One of the few Fictite members of Section IV. Hedonistic, but basically good, and does not know the true nature of the organisation.
  • Formerly something of a pervert, he has been rendered incapable of arousal because he is now dead, a condition that also renders him incapable of digesting food, feeling pain, or healing from injuries, but hasn't stopped him from fighting - he once beat up The Grim Reaper.
  • Has plenty of experience as a member of a top secret organisation, seeing as he's from Torchwood.

    Some Sort Of Troper

Who is he?

Some Sort Of Troper is a mind split in two; the Absent Minded, Expositioning, word tripping theoretical physicist known as Some Sort Of Troper and the determined, badass, silent survival mechanism known as SSOT. They’re both six foot, physically active, limber pieces of meat with Stoic Spectacles but the glasses are different colours if you look close enough. Some Sort Of Troper has dark olive green and SSOT has gun metal grey.

Some Sort Of Troper doesn’t have the greatest set of powers, he has time travel paradoxes following him around. Whether he causes them or they just go where he goes like a stray dog is unknown. Fortunately his mind can analyse the workings of the most convoluted phlebotinum and knows exactly when to set things spinning, For Great Science.

In truth his greatest power is the Incredible Hulk like personality of SSOT. While SSOT is no stronger than Some Sort Of Troper, he is a Badass Normal spectacular. When Some Sort Of Troper’s genre savviness allowed him to perceive the numerous time travel tropes flooding into this world and distorting it around him, his mind fractured to produce a Gordon Freeman expy to protect himself: SSOT. All of the geekier sporting activities that Troper liked (fencing, archery, rock climbing, long range laser sniping etc) became mastered in SSOT’s hands, pain was dulled, the normally long winded and confounded sentences become impenetrable mime and he becomes far, far deadlier with a crowbar. The problem is there is little control over summoning SSOT. Trying to invoke him is like trying to invoke a trope; one can try to put him in a situation where Conservation of Ninjutsu forces his Badass levels up but then again the universe might just drop him in it because it just doesn't like him.

By the way, other characters will probably refers to him and Some or Some Sort for sort (with some maybe going for the more paramilitary troper) but for SSOT they will refer to him as Sooty.

Who was he?

Some Sort Of Troper was a theoretical physicist who was working in a highly advanced government research facility located in a desert in the middle of Nowhere, New Mexico. One day, C-Day, he’s working on the Q switched picoseconds laser they use to agitate entangled states within bifringent lasers and he realises he needs a crowbar. He shouts out to the resident Almighty Janitor, Barney the security guard but it’s his colleague Gordon who hands him the crowbar. Just as the neurons are transmitting the message down to his mouth to ask Gordon why he hasn’t gotten his 2pm appointed HEV suit training, a flash of Genre Savvy hits. He realises that he has no colleague Gordon, no friend Barney and that the last two seconds before the savvy flash didn’t even happen. Instead his mouth transmits his realisation of what has happened: “Some sort of space time thingey.” He then runs as fast as his calf will carry him to get as far as he can before the madness begins. Unfortunately, being in the middle of Nowhere, New Mexico, there wasn’t much he could do about avoiding the onslaught. For The Nowhere Jetpack Institute had not only seen a fracture in the Fourth Wall, they had accidentally fallen into it. It took days, weeks or month to leave, they’re all viable options for Nowhere County had become distorted in time, dinosaurs mixed with Alien Zombies Things and MIT graduates fought off date rape attempts by hillbilly trees. Eventually, when the plot allowed, SSOT emerged from Nowhere, surviving only by forming a Badass Normal split personality whose appearances were noted by the removal of his glasses and the putting on of a slightly darker, thicker rimmed pair. The original personality is still fairly smart and keeps his trusty crowbar and less trustworthy picoseconds laser with him at all times but his mind word tabulation dohickey in his brain was messed up and clear, concise and witty sentences are now all but beyond him.

Who will he be?

Some Sort Of Troper will be found by Vampire Buddha in the remains of CERN in season 4 where he aids VB in the discovery of Trombley's plan. Later on (I hope, TBC) he will aid Vampire Buddha in maintening his cyborg self, help with upgrades and generally be a positive influence on him, helping in the shift from Psycho for Hire to Antihero.

Well I say Some Sort Of Troper is straight, very straight but a failure with women. There would also be a subversion where people think he acts as a Dogged Nice Guy but actually he's a proper Nice Guy who cuts out all that shit covered by the XKCD goes on about and actually asks hits on girls (with some actual decent humour) and then asks them out. Then gets totally rejected. So I want there to be this apparent meekness but with a raging hetero underneath who is constrained by high standard with a low success rate.

Vampire Buddha's attraction to Some Sort Of Troper and SSOT will be complicated by the fact that "Some" is straight will SSOT is a stark raving omnisexual. Some is particular about the kind of person he is attracted to and a failure at pursuing them, while SSOT will have anything and can get anything. The Some/SSOT/VB love fest will given its initial impulse by an incident in which SSOT will emerge in a badass moment and then (in true heroic fashion) be looking for his sexual reward. VB and his attraction to Some will be around when this happens. This leads to requited attraction between VB and SSOT but VB will still have hidden feelings and Unrequited Love for Some Sort Of Troper. This gets made worse by two things.
  • a) There is Het Yay between Vampire Buddha and Kathirynn while Some Sort Of Troper is attracted to Kathirynn. She is potentially the perfect woman for him but he is thrown off but the Het Yay and so can't express this fact comfortably to VB or Kathirynn.
  • b) When Vampire Buddha approaches Some Sort Of Troper for more initimate moments, Some will not handle it well, get thrown by the situation and then SSOT pops up (with his thronging, mimed, lust). With Kathirynn, this thing doesn't happen so much especially if he is making any move but since he doesn't expect much reciprication due to her Het Yay with VB, he gets thrown with he comes on too strongly and some times, SSOT may pop up there. Hilarity Ensues.

The powers he has are due to him calling upon the Badass Bookworm heroes he imagines he could be when he was placed under a point of extreme stress (the space time fabric being ripped apart by Sci Fi tropes). What he grasps out for is a hero who is like him but not dying in this situation. So in the For Want of a Nail episode, he is diverted from the main horror of the trope attacks and so imagines his heroic self while actually conscious. So he'd imagine a scientist hero who was a great communicator and very media friendly. He's a pattern seeker not an inventor, so he imagines based on what he has seen and comes up with a Tony Stark expy. So now he is highly communicative (I came up with the idea of being able to Wiki Word his text, so he says two words and an entire wiki entry hits your brain), an inventor rather than just pattern seeker, calm, collect and self assured and flying out of Nevada in a super suit he built in a cave with a box of scraps. Everything he wants to be but is in no way like.

Also, I have motivation for why he wants to be like this. Gosh I hope i don't hit melodrama but he had an older sister, english/journalism student who died when he was a kid. He was always impressed by her way with words. This comes out when we see him an the Iron Man wannabe and we learn that she impressed upon him the importance at trying to be the best at your own niche rather than being second in someone else's domain, which should leave some sadness in our heart since the latter would be what he has gone for in this case.

His arc will take him from a character unaware of the importance of his role and his talents. As he grows in depth he will realise in SSOT he has qualities that could make him a success without covering up his believed failings. The character starts to be able to affect the plot for himself using his own natural talents, this increase in confidence improves the success in interpersonal relationships and in converging the personalities. At last the character is in love but must fully utilise all his talents in dangerous situations in the end game. The character has accepted what his talents truly are and also has even accepted that he was not as major a character as others but will end the series similar to how he began- being used as a weapon. The troper will complete the personality converge and will fight using a previously unrealised talent. However the troper will fall in the final battle and be trapped beyond the Fourth Wall.

Additions:

Yet this is actually part of the character's arc, he starts off as something like some phlebotinum for other character (how was your arm fixed? He did it for me) and he ends it that way but having grown to accept his role.

The foreshadowing of his power comes in several places
  • Various episodes dealing with time travel. The show wouldn't have its own consistent time travel theory or paradox proofing, it would have a villain find a TARDIS, it would have an alien spy trying to find a time machine to go back in time and kill Beethoven and take his identity. It would have a wormhole that lead to the past where the tropers can find a Hollywood History characters interacting with the real thing. It would have San Dimas time in one episode and then a Back To the Future style time line another. One day to defeat a villain, somebody may use the Wild Stallion Rule. So these things pop up and when Some Sort is around, he seems to get which trope it is right.

  • The initial time mess in Nevada gives a sense that the Convergence was not temporally localised for Some Sort Of Troper. Effects were seeming to occur moments before the event technically began. In the finale, it will turn out that this allows Some Sort Of Troper to go back to a minute before C-day.I had this image that SSOT goes back in time finds some random canadian writer we know nothing about, sticks a Chameleon in his mouth and shouts at him "I can use some sort of time travel. I'm from Nowhere, Nevada. Also, don't eat the blue fish" then Convergence occurs, I get lost and that is the only thing we know about the creation of Te Che. What has happened is that when the Convergence occurs for someobody already affected by fictites they end up being sent through the Fourth Wall to the other side, rather than drawing something to them. This leaves Some Sort Of Troper stuck on the other side, the tone is not hopeless, in fact it is defiant and with the personalities fully converged at the end we have a dangerous foe with Odyssean determination.

    Tangent 128

Who He Is:

Tangent 128 is a human male, of tallish-but-typical height and a rail-thin frame. Hair and eyes are both dark-brown, with the hair being shoulder-length and unstyled. He always wears shorts and a T-shirt, both of which are solid, vibrant colors.

Who He Was:

He was a college student before the Convergence; after the shakeup, he was disturbed to find that his hometown's modern-day obscurity and lack of potential plot hooks had caused it to actually vanish during the Convergence. He joined TV Tropes as an equipment tech in the Bahama base, hoping to eventually run across a historical fiction character from the era his hometown had significance.

Who He Will Be:

Initially, he is just a background character in the TV Tropes HQ, recognizable for using his phasing powers to help perform maintainance.

(The following is out of date; something like it may happen, may not, depending on where the reboot goes)

After Fast Eddie's corruption is revealed, however, he uncovers data traffic between Fast Eddie and a 555 address, pointing at an outside source for the corruption. He keeps this to himself and investigates covertly. Eventually, he discovers that the trail leads beyond the Eighth Wall, and the nature of this discovery drives him insane. His insanity and phasing powers combine, detaching him from reality and sending him beyond the Eighth Wall.

Eventually, he gets slightly Bored With Insanity- enough to manifest in reality again, but he now views the events around him as a show he's watching rather than as events he's taking part in.

Powers:
  • Selective Intangibility- he can phase himself and one other person (or equivalent mass) through most forms of matter, excluding some Phlebotinum, while preventing the whole fall-through-the-floor thing.
  • (Again, open for change. Probably heavily, due to the lower meta quotient.):
    • Fiction Detachment (after going insane)- he sees events from the camera's perspective, even if not present. Narrators can't compel his actions. However, he doesn't really consider telling "the characters" what he sees, only making offhand comments on occasion.

    Tropey The Wonder Dog

Who He Is:

A Snarky Nonhuman Sidekick and Weasel Mascot who spends most of his time with Janitor. He thinks highly of himself and can be both annoying and mean at times, but underneath it all he is firmly in support of our heroes, despite how it may appear externally. Just don't call him out on it.

Physically, he is about one foot tall in his 'normal' form, with off-white (almost light brown) fur and Big Ol' Eyebrows that get prominent when he rants about how much other people suck. In his Sleep Mode Size he has the appearance of a small keychain of himself and is, thankfully for some, unable to speak. When in a form that renders him more powerful, his size can be greatly increased along with his (temporary) badassery.

Who He Was:

Tropey was sealed in the form of a keychain until he was found and unintentionally awakened by the Main Cast. He doesn't remember anything that happened before he went into this form, except for the fact he came from the other side of the Fourth Wall. However, he really doesn't care about said past, either - nor does it play any role in the story. He doesn't have amnesia - he just doesn't give a damn.

Who He Will Be:

Through Season 1, Tropey is only a minor character with about two appearances under his belt. As Season 2 rolls around, he's firmly part of the cast. Tropey spends most of his time with Janitor, probably due to the fact that she doesn't seem to find him annoying - or maybe because he likes to be chummy with his higher-ups. When he's not with her, he's usually meandering about the base, occasionally going on adventures with the Mains (but for the most part staying in second-tier). At the end of Season 3, a Tybalt-controlled Matrix aims to capture Janitor. In a rare moment in which he actually cares for someone other than himself, he turns into his Super Mode to protect her...but that's as far as he gets, as Matrix, under Tybalt's control, literally Shoots The Dog. He gets better - but the event changes him, making him more serious about the Convergence and the events it has spawned.

Through and through, though, he's a little pipsqueak who can sometimes be fun to be around, but isn't without moments where you want to choke him.

Other Random Stuff
  • Trope-tan sometimes carries Tropey's keychain form on her belt.

    Vampire Buddha

I will become Death, the destroyer of worlds

Who he is

A cyborg and Psycho for Hire initially working for C Trombley. Dresses in a black cloak, and carries a QSZ-92 pistol chambered for 9X19mm ammo with laser sight, collapsible double-bladed scythe with 'Occam' engraved on one blade and 'Hanlon' on the other. Cybernetic elements cause his face to look like a skull. Much of the right side of his body is mechanical.

Who he was

After the convergence, a young man who we shall refer to as C moved from Ireland to the TV Tropes European HQ in Germany, and was thereafter transferred to CERN.

At CERN, he worked under C Trombley, ostensibly attempting to find a way to repair the rift in the Fourth Wall. An attempt to do so by using the LHC to bombard phlebotinum crystals with minovsky particles in a spiral energy field was interrupted by a hostile Fictite attack, and swift counterattack by the joint American and European brances of TV Tropes. During this time, C was among a large number of background characters mortally injured in the resulting explosion, which also spread dangerous amounts of awesomeness over France, Switzerland, and northern Italy.

At the end of the last episode of a series (most likely S2, subject to change following the reboot), C reappears as a cyborg, talking to Trombley in French. Trombley sends C, now called Vampire Buddha, to America just before disappearing. His main objective is to gather data on damage done to the Fourth Wall from one of the main sources of the outbreak.

Who he will be

VB initially appears as a recurring character. He sometimes aids the tropers, sometimes opposes them, and sometimes acts at right angles to them. He does seem to have a method to his madness.

During this time, VB's encounters with the tropers cause him to question his orders. Eventually, he returns to CERN to deliver a mission report. He finds the facility abandoned except for Some Sort Of Troper and Trombley nowhere in sight; Some and VB thus break into Trombley's office to try and find some clue as to what's going on. Here, they discover Trombley's master plan - it turns out his old boss had cooked the data, and what they thought would repair the Fourth Wall was actually an attempt to break down the Eighth Wall. As this point, VB has a Heel Realisation and decides to atone for his sins in whatever way he can.

VB and Some travel around Europe for a while, during which Some gives VB a few modest upgrades. Some also acts as a positive influence on VB, catalysing his shift from Psycho for Hire to anti-hero. Some also shows him that even now, there might still be something worth fighting for.

He most likely meets up with the tropers again in Finland, attempting to rescue Santa - that is, if we decide to do the Saving Christmas plot. Wherever the meets up with them, he attempts to join, and gives them Trombley's data as a goodwill gesture. Whether they accept him on to the team has not yet been decided.

At some point, VB gets a new outfit - camouflage trousers, a skull T-shirt, and a Badass Longcoat. He may also upgrade his mechanical eye for night vision.

Other stuff

Powers: Mechanical parts immune to pain. Requires less food than normal humans, but mechanical parts must be recharged every so often. May gain night vision goggles after his fight with Ironeye.

Leitmotif: God Knows, sung by Mariya Baradenko.

    The World Tree

The World Tree is mainly based on the Norse myths. It "talks" to Murky Muse. (More to come.)

    Zetaseal

Who she is

Zetaseal is about average height and average build. Her hair is most definitely ''not'' orange but just a very warm shade of red and green eyes to match. She aspires to be a Bifauxnen but just isn't graceful enough, instead coming off like a girl in more masculine clothing than usual. She wears glasses but they're really just for show.

Personality-wise, she tends towards biting humor to keep people at bay, although she tries to hold herself back for those very few she deigns to care about. She keeps everything to herself, and sometimes it's hard to tell if anything really gets to her. Getting into her personal space is a surefire way to make her lose her carefully crafted cool. She has a deeply repressed love for small fuzzy things.

After the Convergence, she develops powers of mentalism. As long as she can keep her voice calm and soothing, she can convince the gullible and naive that, for example, a rock is a boulder. Those who are more naturally cynical and close-minded are resistant to this sort of hypnosis. She can't fight on her own, instead relying on suggestion to make her opponents' minds defeat themselves. She is too cowardly to actually get close to any foe.

She takes the chaos of C-Day to be a perfect opportunity to ditch those who ever gave her a hard time, and those she thinks would have if they had known the truth about her.

Who she was

Being the Red-Headed Stepchild of her family and a Shrinking Violet, she never had very many friends. Until, of course, she met two people who would be with her no matter what - literally. She, through a process she doesn't remember clearly, became a Daydream Believer with two fictional characters sharing her mind. With the friendship they offer her, she ends up gaining the confidence she needs to make real friends.

She still remains distant from these "real" friends, preferring to stay alone with the company in her mind. She distrusted those around her, thinking they would abandon her if they knew.

Word Of God is that there was no direct interaction across the Fourth Wall before it fell, so Zetaseal is actually insane. (See the question on Word Of God in the Miscellaneous section of the Frequently Asked Questions page for how canonical the insanity is.)

Who she will be

Naturally, the Convergence is the best thing that ever happened to her. Finally, a chance to prove that she wasn't insane!

But they no longer talk to her in her mind, and she can't find them anywhere. She spends a great deal of time in the beginning wandering from place to place, searching for any sign of her friends. On her quest to find them, she is willing to screw anyone over so long as it gets her closer to her goal.

At some point, she gets picked up by agents of Xanatos and is deceived by promises that she will be taken to her fictite friends if she helps them defeat the heroes. At first she obeys readily, but as she begins to doubt if anything about her life before C-Day was real, the other side looks mighty tempting...

Ultimately, Zetaseal's methods should lose most of the sympathy she gained from her insanity, and she will die a villain. Such is the fate of the ruthless bitch.

Other

Current thoughts for fictite friends: Kuja and Chopin. (Id, Ego, with Zetaseal as Superego for a Power Trio). If she were to discover that they were dead, she would lose all motivation to work for Xanatos (or whoever else is promising to help her find them). If the killer happened to be in front of her, well, let's just say that angry would be an entirely insufficient term. This may come into play in Zeta's final scene, as she is not a competent fighter and depends on her power to win...a power that she can't use when enraged—if someone even remotely competent killed Kuja...
