The story itself is heavily based on the Yliaster Arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds:
- There are six Agents (six Signers) each with a respective legendary spirit (six Signer Dragons, though in this case, they're various mythical creatures), and they're led by the Galaxy Dragon (Crimson Dragon).
- Weissdrache's global-vanquishing plot is essentially the same as Z-One's.
- Blue Rainbow marks the appearance of Mecha-Mooks - just like the Meklord Armies.
- Domingo Irving's final form in Blue Starlight is a homage to Meklord Emperor Wisel.

Expies

Weissdrache.
- Appearance and personality-wise (at least in Blue Eyes), he is Seto Kaiba. Even his German nickname is a dead giveaway (Weissdrache = White Dragon, as in Blue Eyes White Dragon).
- His fighting style, which incorporates a lot of Teleport Spam. Hello, Wesker!
Rachelle Hannaway. Her Hot Bloodedness in combat makes her one to Terry Bogard.
- looks like Celty with her head on.
Jeanne Niemans. Her appearance, personality, and fighting style are all identical to Lili.

Homages

Rachelle's Catch Phrase is rather identical to a particular teacher's.
"I am Rachelle Hannaway, 21 years old..."
Sayaka Miyazawa has a dead sister named Kyoko. Take a guess what this refers to?
Sayaka herself is one big homage to the Ace Attorney series:
- She is taking up a degree in law, breaking the typical "math wizard" stereotype prevalent in Asian and Nerdy characterizations.
- Her Catch Phrase is "Matta!" ("Hold it!"), which she shouts while giving the recipient the pointer finger.
Weissdrache, especially as Stephan, has an odd habit of being The Nicknamer, with the nicknames being taken from various anime.
- Rachelle is "Celty", with her being a Biker Babe.
- Jeanne is "Cecilia", referring to her being British and being princess-like in mannerisms.
- Sayaka is "Hilda", referring to her being a Meganekko.
- Leigh is "Naru", referring to her powerful Megaton Punch.
- Eshe / Aisha is "Agito", referring to her Split Personality.
- Phoemela is "Senjogahara", referring to her Tsundere personality and her fondness for office supplies.
Yuu is one large homage to Yuu Asakawa and her roles:
- Her name, obviously.
- Her appearance - Rapunzel Hair, Meganekko, Tall, Dark and Bishoujo - references Rider.
- Her love for swimming references Hibiki Tsukahara.
- A Running Gag involving her getting bitten by Weissdrache's pet cat references Sakaki.
- Her being a Biker Babe in a Powered Armor references Priss Asagiri.
Akane Orikasa
- Her surname is to seiyuu Fumiko Orikasa.
- Her "Pure Heart" ability, which is able to break through a person's lies, is similar to Psyche Locks.
- The epilogue of Blue Starlight reveals that she becomes an Idol Singer. Her stage name? Lyrical Kasane-chan.
Michael "Michelle" O'Brien
- His surname is to voice actor Liam O'Brien.
- His need to be magically transformed into a female ("Michelle") plus the translation of the three forms of his weapon ("Espada" - sword; "Baril" - gun; "Salamanca" - magic)... Sounds familiar?
