You never truly know a person until you've seen where they live. And met their family.Wilfred is an Australian sitcom about a young man who sees his girlfriend's dog as a human man in a dog costume. The show was adapted into an American sitcom several years later, with Jason Gann reprising his role as Wilfred, the dog.Wilfred belongs to Sarah, and he can be seen by her boyfriend Adam. Wilfred dislikes Adam and decides to test him, having endured the ups and downs of Sarah's love life. So, in addition to winning Sarah's heart, Adam must also contend with Wilfred. The show ran two seasons.
This series provides examples of:
- Invisible to Normals
- Downer Ending: Adam's hopes and dreams for a happy life with Sarah are crushed when he is arrested (during their wedding, no less) for taking part in one of Wilfred's schemes. Adding insult to injury, Sarah's mourning lasts about two seconds before she forgets about Adam and moves on to another guy. Wilfred makes his presence known to Sarah's potential new boyfriend, beginning the cycle anew
- Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane
- Vicious Cycle: Basically the show's story revolves around Adam being the latest phase in a pattern where Sarah gets a new boyfriend and introduces him to Wilfred who then passively-aggressively works to sabotage the relationship.
