'''''Ultra Seven X''''' is a 2007 {{toku}}satsu series produced by Tsuburaya Productions. It is a DarkerAndEdgier reimagining of the classic ''Series/UltraSeven'' series.

In the 23rd century, Deus agent Jin has contracted amnesia and is in a strange apartment. Upon waking up, he sees that he has a strange item, the Ultra Eye. With it, he can change into the mysterious giant called Ultra Seven X. Now, he must fight the alien invaders that threaten his world and figure out the mystery behind his missing memories.

The is the first Ultra in the ''Franchise/UltraSeries'' to be aimed exclusively at adults.

!!''Ultra Seven X'' provides examples of the following tropes:

* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: The BigBad appears as a group of middle-aged people. [[spoiler: Their true form is a HiveMind of insectile subterranean creatures.]]
* AntiClimaxBoss: Most of the monsters were defeated very quickly when they appear. The challenge in most episodes is in actually finding them. [[spoiler: This includes the final boss, which is actually [[TheSwarm a large group of subterranean giant insects.]] Once his consciousness awakens, Seven proceeds to destroy them in less than 5 minutes.]]
* AttackOfThe50FootWhatever: Well, it's an Ultra series, but surprisingly averted most of the time. A lot of the MonsterOfTheWeek are human-sized.
* ActionGirl: Agent S.
* BackFromTheDead: Agent D. [[spoiler: Turns out he faked his death to be with his alien lover.]]
* {{BadAss}}: Jin/Ultrseven X. Due to the show being something of a detective show, his battles are usually settled within the last 5 or so minutes, sometimes in one single blow. Even the BigBad can do little against him [[spoiler: once he gets his memory back.]]
* BadassBookworm: Elea Saeki, [[spoiler: Jin's lover,]] is a scientist and while she may not be able to fight like the agents, she's quite proficient with guns.
* BadassCrew: Jin, K, and S were top-of-the-line agents.
* BigDamnHeroes: Seven, of course, especially in the final episode once he gets his memory back. [[spoiler: The best example has to be when he rescued the injured K and S, preventing their HeroicSacrifice.]]
* ButtMonkey: Agent K, especially when Agent S is around.
* BreatherEpisode: One episode has a non-malicious spacefaring alien, [[LastOfHisKind the final living member of its species]], who attaches itself to Jin's space otaku friend to take him with it into space as a companion. This is the only episode where absolutely no one gets harmed. In fact, Jin turned into Seven [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming just to give them a proper sendoff into space.]]
* CombatPragmatist: In contrast to other Ultraman shows, this Seven does not pull his punches and often uses his most powerful moves as soon as the battle begins, averting WhyDontYouJustShootHim situations.
* ContemplateOurNavels: Some of the early episodes can feel like this.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: K is pretty laid back most of the time, acts like he's terrified by S, and usually fits the group's TheSmartGuy role. In the final episodes, he showed us just why he was chosen as a DEUS member by disarming S, who was pointing her gun at his head, and holding both her and Jin at gunpoint.
* DarkerAndEdgier: The darkest show of the entire ''Franchise/UltraSeries''.
* EarlyBirdCameo: S appears in first episode as a waitress before her proper introduction in the 4th episode.
* EasyAmnesia: Jin has it. [[spoiler: It was actually Seven who purposely sealed away his consciousness along with Jin's memory because the former feared he will erase the latter's personality.]]
* EvilAllAlong: [[spoiler: The boss of DEUS is the BigBad, and the purpose of DEUS is to destroy threats to their rule.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: Agent R, who sided with the abductor aliens after he lost his wife. Near the end, [[spoiler: every DEUS agent except K and S were sent to eliminate Jin, his girl, and K and S themselves.]]
* HeyItsThatGuy: [[{{Garo}} Kaoru]] is an alien now?
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Almost happens to K and S in the final episode.]]
* HoldingBackThePhlebotinum: Ultraseven himself doesn't normally appear beyond the last 5 minutes of the episode, and his battles in some of the later episodes were almost [[SingleStrokeBattle single-stroke battles]]. [[spoiler: Also used by Seven, who sealed his consciousness for fear that he will erase Jin's, giving him his EasyAmnesia.]]
* InterSpeciesRomance: Happened between [[spoiler: agent D]] and an [[HumanAliens alien girl]] who was so entranced with earth music that she abandoned her invasion mission. There are two other examples, but they both [[LoveHurts ended in tragedy.]]
* LetteredSequel
* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: Invoked when K told S that, being agents who are considered nonexistant to the rest of the world, she was the closest thing he had to a wife [[spoiler: right as they prepare for their HeroicSacrifice.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: One of the aliens has this reaction when he realized that [[spoiler: he killed his own wife and, unable to cope with reality, modified his own memory where his wife was the monster instead of him.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: One episode has the agents help retrieve an alien race's stolen power crystal, which was revealed at the end to be a [[FantasticNuke planet-destroying bomb]] which they will use to wipe out their rival species.
* OtakuOClock: Being aimed at adults, it was aired at 2.15am on CBC and 2.25am on TBS.
* PeaceAndLoveIncorporated: The giant floating TV screens all around the city preaching about how to be a good citizen reeks of it. [[spoiler: These are actually surveillance and attack drones of the BigBad.]]
* PunchClockVillain: One MonsterOfTheWeek fashions himself as a recruitment agent for his WMD factory and he fights in order to protect his business interests, not an invasion plan. On top of that, [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters his clients were Humans]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: One alien does this after [[spoiler: his human form was killed, turning him into a [[TheBerserker crazed]] monster who killed his killers and his own wife.]]
* TheReveal: [[spoiler:This is the same Ultra Seven from the [=M78=] universe who came into the X world to stop the Grakyess, the BigBad of the series, from crossing into the Seven's side.]]
* TragicMonster: Quite a few.
* SweetTooth: Agent S really likes her chocolate balls.
* TransformationTrinket: The Ultra Eye.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Agent R. [[spoiler: Also happens to the main protagonists.]]
* YourMindMakesItReal: In one episode, S ate [[MonsterOfTheWeek an alien organism]] and had severe stomach pains afterwards. Turns out Jin had swapped the tablet containing the parasite with an ordinary multivitamin tablet...S was not happy.
