Ḍtaman ("Spinning Top" in English) was a Gaelic-language kids' show hosted by folk singer Donnie MacLeod and others such as Cathy MacDonald and Anna Murray. It ran sporadically from 1985 onward on BBC Two Scotland. A lot of Scottish Nineties kids remember it despite not knowing any Gaelic themselves. A useful cultural comparison for Tropers across The Pond can be found in the Chespirito series; just as the antics of El Chavo and El Chapulin Colorado seemed to English speakers to be "always on" the Spanish-speaking channels, so too did Ḍtaman seem to dominate the Gaelic timeslots of BBC Scotland.
