- Helena Bonham Carter was in a relationship with Kenneth Branagh, with whom she became involved during the filming of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. This ended Branagh's marriage to Emma Thompson.

- Started dating Penélope Cruz on the set of Vanilla Sky. Some say he deliberately wanted to be in the film for this reason.

- Angelina Jolie with Jonny Lee Miller on Hackers, with Billy Bob Thornton on Pushing Tin, and with Brad Pitt on Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). The last one was particularly scandalous, as Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time. Even though Pitt and Aniston were legally separated, that didn't stop people from painting Jolie as a homewrecker, and the three of them were the Holy Trinity of tabloids for years. In addition, Jolie had a somewhat less-publicized romance with Jenny Shimizu, who she starred alongside in Foxfire (1996).

According to Rob, he had a crush on Kristen and getting the chance to work with her was the main reason he signed up for the movie, meaning that he was probably hoping to invoke this trope. Eventually, Kristen Stewart cheated with Rupert Sanders, the married director of Snow White & the Huntsman. To make matters worse, the director's wife Liberty Ross was playing Stewart's (Snow White's) on-screen mother.
- Kristen is no stranger to this trope. She met and dated her Speak co-star Michael Angarano.
