Round Three of The Foundation. Hana no Naku Koro ni is set in a mansion on an unknown island.
This game provides examples of:
- Bloody Hilarious: Endgame required some of the murders to be recreated in order for the characters to fully understand how they happened. Sherlock and Sakura stab a dummy during one of these tests and promptly get soaked in fake blood.
- Breakout Character: The demons, collectively. The mods hadn't planned for them to become such distinct characters, which is why there was no mechanic that would allow saving them.
- Gray-and-Gray Morality: The truth of Nirrti's past. The townspeople weren't actually all clamoring for her death, and she did a few shady things that contributed to the general mistrust of her. Also served as a general theme for the round as well.
- Official Couple: As of endgame: Syaoran/Takumi, Sora/Riku, Sherlock/Erhard, Anon/Natsuno, Akira/Kurama, Joey/Karen-Vinea, and Sakura/Watanuki.
- Possessing a Dead Body: The dead return as new individuals, with some aspects of the original's personalities carrying over.
- Demonic Possession: Characters executed as culprits, in particular, become demons.
- Running Gag: Is Riku alive?
- You Are Not Alone: One of recurring themes of the game, as several characters dealt with intense loneliness in their canons.
