Roleplay / Prophesies Destinies And Killing Gods

Prophesies [sic], Destinies, and Killing Gods is a Play By Post Game, played and managed by a small group of forum members. It was originally hosted on the Hylian Tower Forum on FanFiction.Net, however due to limitations of the website's forums, has since been moved to its own stand alone site hosted by proboards.com.

Starting in 2010, The Role Play was originally called Virtual Battling, as its purpose was simply a thread where the forum members could engage in fights. Since then, it somehow evolved from a random battle thread with no plot and light-hearted humor to an epic story with numerous arcs and villains. To put this in perspective, the Role Play started off with characters fighting nerds and licensed characters from other media, to a clone destroying the world in an attempt to become a god, to elaborate space battles, and dramas including slavery and rape.

Prophesies, Destinies, and Killing Gods provides examples of the following tropes:

• Abusive Parents: Jessica’s foster parents were abusive towards Jessica and Justice.
• Aerith and Bob: People like Ebony and Ricky hang out with people named Nayru, Rawk, and Lotus. It gets worse when you compare those to Master-of-Omega and Villain-of-Awesome.

• Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Ebony drank six bottles of vodka. It doesn't end well.
• All Myths Are True: ...but few are accurate. Many important figures in various human mythologies were actually powerful users of magic. Also, many mythological and supernatural creatures are real, with good explanation. Generally.
• All There in the Manual: A lot of backstory is only elaborated upon in the discussion threads.
• All Your Base Are Belong to Us:
  Poly Awesome: I have control of *glitch* I have control of entire tower. *all lights in the tower turn off* I have all information in tower. He. He. He. He. Can Heroes *glitch* Can Heroes defeat me? I am only AI with no physical body can Heroes defeat me? *a computer in the tower explodes* How can Heroes defeat what they cannot touch? Can Heroes find mole in tower whom uploaded me? He. He. He.
• Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: When parents are featured in the RP, such as Ebony's mother and Rawk's parents, they are this.

• An Arm and a Leg: A good portion of the cast have lost an arm of leg sometime during the story.
• Angsty Surviving Twin: Rachel, who lost her twin sister Erica when Cthulhu attacked the Carleone family. Erica, however, was the one who survived, and she took the loss hard enough to declare her own identity forfeit and live her life as Rachel.
• Anyone Can Die: Some characters have Plot Armor, and some never lose it. Those that don't have it....One killed off his main character Nikolai , and almost all of the rest of his characters at the time.
• Apocalypse How: All the way from 0 to X-4.
• Applied Phlebotinum: Element Zero is frequently used to explain things which would be otherwise impossible. (Gravity wise.)
  • More recently, seithr has been used in the creation of more outlandish devices.

• Artificial Human: Reploids are incredibly advanced considering the date and age of the world Reploids are from.
• Ascended Fanboy: Michael, a fan of the fiction from another dimension was brought to the universe that is the main setting of the RP for yet unrevealed reasons.
• Attack Drone: The Tower has multiple defense robots.
• Badass Adorable: Flora, a lovable thirteen year old girl, is able to transform into an emotionless, reality warping cyborg.
• Badass Boast: The heroes love making boasts in the beginning, almost as much as the villains. They don't usually taunt them now, but they still fall back on it from time to time.

• Badass Normal:
  • Nikolai, before the parasite within him forced him to get prosthetic limbs.
  • Xavier, who has no powers to speak of.
    • Slightly debatable on whether he was still Badass Normal when he got his power armor, but he did end up losing it.
  • Most of the Seiken race in general, none of which are actually capable of having powers.
  • Ray is one of these when he isn't piloting his 50 meter tall mecha.

• Ballroom Blitz: If the heroes are at a party, expect something to go wrong and a battle ensue very quickly.
• Bar Brawl: Lotus starts one in hopes of causing a distraction after she is recognized when being wanted.

• Big Brother Instinct: Will may come off as quiet and unapproachable, but he'll be damned if he lets any other Hero get hurt on his watch.

• Bond One-Liner: Villain tries to get Lotus to invoke this trope after she kills the cross-eyed Janus in a fit of revenge.
  Villain: *wakes up and sees the ending* END IT WITH A ONE-LINER! LIKE, "I GUESS THAT'S AN EYE FOR AN EYE!" WAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!
• Breaking the Fellowship: Starts with Zero sacrificing himself for the group in a Batman Gambit. Then Villain leaves when the others berate him for humiliating Ebony to the point she breaks down and cries. Afterwards, Nikolai leaves to try and regroup his race without telling the others in the hopes they won’t get involved and find out that he is with the Crusaders.
  • Happened again after the Shoten Civil War. Erica, Leander, Aleph, and Nayru went to Nayru's home world, Masaru died and needed his new body to be constructed, Hannelin went to visit her brother, Ilyana went home to study magic further, Will rejoined the Marines, and the Tower was, generally speaking, remarkably empty.
• Broken Pedestal: Villain is very disappointed and angry to discover that the Master is in fact the dragon of wisdom.
• Calling Your Attacks: Invoked by everyone. Averted in more recent times, as several characters move to using nonverbal attacks .
• Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Big Brother 2 wants to torture and kill the Heroes for destroying parts of his capital and disrupting plans, but knows he will be killed if they are. Instead, he strips and imprisons them in the Ministry of Science when they are captured.
• Casting a Shadow: Isa is master of Dark and Shadow affiliated magics. Everything her shadow does to yours , happens to you. This includes non-animate objects.
• Character Development: Almost every character changes in some way shape or form.
• Clarke's Third Law: Master-of-Omega's most powerful vessel is capable of controlling all 10 dimensions.
• Cold-Blooded Torture: Several characters have been tortured when they were captured by the enemies.
• Come with Me If You Want to Live: Attempted twice.
  • Villain tried getting the heroes to abandon the Tower during the Zerg Seige, going so far as to try and force Ebony into the car. No one took it well and forced him to stay, mostly due to wrecking his escape vehicle.
  • Jonathon attempted something similar when Omega led the attack on the Horizon II. Several characters noticed his sudden rise in baddass-ness and told him they wouldn’t leave, getting him instead of help them fix part of the ship instead. This worked out for the best, given he turned out to be a mole for Omega.

• The Cowl: Alessio when acting as Giustizia. The group of vigilantes inspired by him naturally follow a similar modus operandi.
• Curbstomp Battle: The students of the Elemental Masters attempted to ambush the Heroes, under the impression that they were attempting to steal the object inside the Pandora's Vault.(An artifact the heroes did not know about) They seemed to be fairly powerful....then within about five minutes, 4 of the remaining 5 of them were dead.
  • The Heroes themselves are not immune to this. Several characters have been beaten down by enemies they were either not prepared to fight or underestimated.

• Darker and Edgier: The thread went from two of the first posters irritating numerous villains for fun, and fishing, to fighting for their lives against Eldritch Abominations and Omnicidal Maniacs.
• Dark Is Not Evil: The Devbut'a are the very race of demons that are known throughout Earth. They're also very polite and like to make friends.

• Defeat Equals Friendship: After having her entire team destroyed by the Heroes, Aqua joins their team with little hesitation and becomes a side team-mate.
• Deus est Machina: Master-of-Omega takes this to the logical extreme: If he wanted to, he could easily wipe out all life.
• Did We Just Have Tea with Cthulhu??: The Ducibus. (Or Cubes.) Energy being form-changers with questionable loyalties and morals. They destroyed planets, wiped out races and came close to accidentally killing all the Heroes while trying to stall for time. Then they spent an entire few months bunking in the Tower after their place was accidentally destroyed, and one of them even got into a relationship with a Hero.
• Died in Your Arms Tonight: Inverted. Omega dies hugging Ebony, who is too scared and confused to move let alone hug him back.
  • Played straight with Leander holding Erica when she died.

• Do Not Call Me "Paul": Rie does not like being referred to by his actual name, Ivory
• Do You Want to Haggle?: While on Nirn, Ebony attempts to haggle. She ends up paying more than original price due to bad haggling skills.
• Dragged into Drag: Nayru has done this more than once to unfortunate unsuspecting males, Aleph being the most frequent target.
• Energy Weapon: Used very often, one of the most prominent examples being Zero's Z-Saber. These generally tend to be realistic, but some simply run off Rule of Cool.
• Early-Installment Weirdness: Virtual Battling included multiple characters from other media and was overall far sillier and cartoony than P Da KG. Characters also were either exaggerated or had far more Out of Character Moments.
  Lotus: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEESE! *Shoves Vo A out the way and attacks cheese*
  Zero: *punches a moogle*

• Expendable Clone: The clone Awesomes that were made to create a small army. Awesome sacrificed quality for quantity.
• Exploring the Evil Lair: Nayru and Jessica manage to sneak around Daruz’s first fortress after escaping their prison cell, only to end up attending the banquet like Daruz planned.
• Expy: Ilyana and Rachel are two of the most obvious examples.

• Eye Scream: Another theme that occurs, although its not used as often as Impaled With Extreme Prejudice.
• Final Boss, New Dimension: Purposely invoked , as the GM of the time was a troper.The final battle against Awesome in the Shadow Dimension, where dark powers were twice as powerful.
• Finagle's Law: The characters themselves lampshade this, though they know it as it Murphy's Law. See It Got Worse below.
• Find the Cure!: A minor part-snake villain working with Jalissa bit Ebony, forcing them to go on a side-quest to find the plant to use as an antidote.
• Forceful Kiss: Inflicted onto Lotus by Issac. It is also used on Nayru by a drugged Lotus. Nayru hints this also occurred for Ebony during a noodle incident before the story began regarding mistletoe.
• Forced Transformation: A random effect of Soul Drain. Because of this spell, Ebony gets turned into a duck and Lotus ends up as a potted plant.
• "Friends" Rent Control: Ebony is the only one paying for the tower's bills and has no obvious source of income. You find out later that she works with the Mages' Guild and is gets most of her money through there.
• Game Master: The current person in charge of the Plot is known as the holder of the Torch of Dungeon Master.
• Genki Girl: Rouku. Giant demon attacking the Tower? Fighting off a known psychopath? Got seriously messed up by Cthulhu? Not going to stop her sentences from ending with a "♥". However, following the massive Shoten Civil War that ravaged the Earth, killed both Erica and Masaru, and ended in her near-rape by an extremely powerful demon, she has begun to lose this trait rapidly.

• Ghostly Chill: The only thing all the ghosts in the story share in common when they appear.
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: Rawk has these when he enters Blood Kain.
• Go-Go Enslavement: Both the Ladies and Gentlemen are subjected to this when they were trapped on GO 1964.
• Gratuitous Foreign Language: It is everywhere in the story, including...
  • Gratuitous Greek: Invoked by Tau Squadron. They just thought it sounded cool. It is also used by the Ducibus.
  • Gratuitous Italian: Alessio speaks in Italian on occasion.
• The Grim Reaper: Adalwolfa was the Grim Reaper, but rarely took her job seriously and was eventually fired for slacking off.

• Hero Insurance: Chessel must have some great insurance.
• Heroic Sacrifice: Several characters pull these off either to buy time for someone or to protect them.
• Humongous Mecha: An unnamed 200m (656 feet) tall Battle Mech. Owned by Mia, hidden in her pocket dimension, but yet unused.
  • These are the defining characteristic of the Tenants, an elite division of the Colonial Marines.
• Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: Delando attempts to do this with the lady heroes. Due to being on Ebony’s home world and pissing her off already from both poisoning her and burning down a nearby city, Ebony quickly uses it and turns it into a hunt for Delando.
• Hyperspace Is a Scary Place: When the Horizon gets pulled through the rift during the Omega Crisis, everyone on the ship that was not robotic passed out to prevent insanity.
• I Can Still Fight!: Nikolai often escapes the infirmary whenever he is injured, much to Dr. Syringehands’ annoyance.

• If You Ever Do Anything to Hurt Her...: After Alessio nearly drove Ebony to suicide, Lotus gives a vague threat to him as he attempts to patch up the broken relationship. Rie follows it with an official one later.
• Inevitable Tournament: The Tournament of the Shooting Stars. Deliberately invoked.
• Instant Sedation: Played with. Some of the stuff used on the heroes takes several minutes to take effect, while others knock them out instantly.

• Journey to the Center of the Mind: The Heroes take one inside Lotus's mind when she falls into a coma.
• Kick Them While They Are Down: Done to Rawk by Will, Masaru, and Alessio. Possibly justified, however, because he had just allowed a stranger to enter the Tower, done very little to help keep Gaenor from being kidnapped, and ignored a heavily injured Rie in favor of going on a date.
• Killed Off for Real: Done fairly often. Most times, the said dying person is able to have final words.
• Kinetic Weapons Are Just Better: The Empire has multi-kilometre long spacecraft capable of shelling planets . They have millions on millions of soldiers, some of the most advanced technology in the known galaxy . Their standard infantry weapon? Assault rifle.
  • Interesting as handheld energy and plasma weeapons DO exist, and in no small number.
• Knight Templar Parent: Rawk to Flora. She was once called a slut by her former owner. Rawk proceeded to strangle a sizable portion of the man's army. With a spinal column.
• Literal Split Personality: Rawk had ten, complete with unique names, appearances, and personalities. Averted, however, in that they are really souls which use his body as an anchor.
• Living Shadow: Isa's shadow acts independently of her when required, and it easily can cast shapes that would normally be impossible, including shadow weapons for her to cut you with.
• Locked Out of the Loop: Most of the main cast tries to keep Ebony this way, in order to keep her from getting too stressed or angry. When she does find out about things, she doesn’t take it well.
• The Mafia: Rawk and Will both used to be members of the Galactic Mafia.
  • Alessio was an enforcer for the Italian Mafia in Naples before he wiped his own memory.
• A Magic Contract Comes with a Kiss: Ada's Pactio system runs off of this.
• Meta Mecha: Mia's armor system's operate off a "Layer" system, with Layer 1 being the basic system that is stored in her bones. Layer 2 is a suit of armor attached on top of her existing armor, and Layer 3's, yet unused, are Mech's piloted by her lower layer.
• Mexican Stand Off: Between the Crusaders, who wished to meet the Heroes officially, and the Heroes, who were not in the mood to say hello.
• Mistaken Declaration of Love: The Grimoire made Rawk flip between moods and personalities, including confessing attraction to Ebony, someone he had no attraction to previously. She was extremely startled and it caused tension until Rawk overcame the influence and apologized.
• Mugging the Monster: Yes, oh lowly bounty hunter or mook, try and attack one of the Heroes.
• Mundane Made Awesome: Rawk, Will, Masaru, and Alessio took the removal of shirts and turned it into a spectacle involving low grade explosives and a lot of silver glitter.
• Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Kaine, Omega, Demon Awesome, and Big Brother.
• Nanomachines: Used a fair bit by the more advanced members of the group.
• No, Mr. Bond, I Expect You to Dine: Daruz Nero goes out of his way to collect the heroes for the Tournament of the Shooting Stars Banquet, including stealing Mo O’s ship and grabbing any hero that wasn't on the ship or at his location already.
• Noodle Incident: Lotus wants to know about a mentioned mistletoe incident, but no one tells her.
  • Also:
  Lotus: As I remember, it resulted in a thirty-car pileup, the authorities, and me running away screaming about mutant chocobos.
• Not Helping Your Case: When the Heroes are accused of stealing one of the artifacts during an attack from Omega, Ebony tries to antagonize the men escorting her. They were not amused.
• Our Souls Are Different: They are quite volatile when Rawk attacks with them.
• Ordered Apology: Rawk tries to force Ebony to apologize to Crystal. It doesn't really work.
• Papa Wolf: Don't ever let Rawk find out you've hurt Flora in any way. It won't end well.
• Parental Sexuality Squick: Anrel uses this against her children, either to shut them up or just to see their reaction.

• The Password Is Always "Swordfish": Awesome's password is easily cracked with a simple seven-lettered word. While they don't say it outloud, it is easy to guess what the password was...
• Phantom Zone: The Boundary is a dimension where no mentally based abilities work. It's also filled to the brim with seithr, which will generally kill any living thing that enters it very quickly.
• Power Armor: Will uses a nanosuit armor that is stored in his spinal column.
  • Mia's weapon of choice is her various suits of armor. She near always carries her nanosuit base layer around, stored in her skeletal cavities.
• Power Nullifier: Commonly pops up. The most common nullifier is an anti-warp device, which prevents warp magic from occurring to avoid retreats or escapes.
• Powered by a Forsaken Child: Many villains seemed to have discovered ways to use souls to power their spells/contraptions...
• Pre Ass Kicking One Liner: Lotus delivers one before her final confrontation with Janus.
  Lotus: Gaze long and hard at the sky, Janus of Ivalice, because this is your final hour!
• Precursors : Master-of-Omega is a AI created by the long-gone Progenitors.
• Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: Lucia, though much of the "psycho" part was caused by Yukianesa.
• Punched Across the Room: This occurs many times, more so in the beginning.
• Quirky Miniboss Squad: TEAM FORCE SQUAD EEEEEEECCCCCKKKKKKSSSSSS, and by extension, New Team Force Squad Extreme.
  • Also The Eight and later Nine Grand Copies.
• Really 700 Years Old: Quite a number of people, as the most powerful of magic wielders seem to all be immortal.
  • The Cubes are a pretty obvious one, the youngest of them being roughly 5900 years old, and not even 1/1000th of the age of the oldest.
  • Ada is over 16000 years old, but due to her Pactio and her position as the Grim Reaper, she did not age past her 13th birthday until she was fired and stripped of her memory.
• Reforged Blade: Lotus had to search out the blacksmith who made Save The Queen to reforge her sword after Villain used it during a duel and broke it.
• Relationship Upgrade: There have been many over the course of the series.
  • Masaru and Nayru got theirs after an extended case of relationship doldrums.
  • Rawk and Crystal finally got one after a long period of Will They or Won't They?.
  • Zero and Rouku had one during the Christmas season. It didn't last.
  • Alessio and Ebony had one just before the largest Beach Episode.
  • Will and Ilyana, however, have gotten together after a great deal of Unresolved Sexual Tension.
• Roaring Rampage of Rescue: Ebony and Nayru attempt this when Lotus is kidnapped, but fail when they get ahead of the kidnappers and break into their empty headquarters.
• Royals Who Actually Do Something: Stephanus.
• Running Gag: Apparently Villain has to constantly remind Ebony of her bad taste in interior decoration.
  • Every single time Ebony gets drunk, she hits on Lotus.
• Scars Are Forever: Most of the Heroes are scarred in some way. If they do not have scars, it is because of their own talents helping the healing process or have not been involved in a conflict.
• Shameful Strip: When Ebony gets the group captured by Big Brother 2, they are all stripped to their underwear and imprisoned in the Ministry of Science.
• Shapeshifter Baggage: Averted in most cases, as Nayru and a few others require extra (water, biomass etc) to become larger, and shed it to become smaller. The Cubes are explained in that they are basically energy.
• Shout-Out: Way too many to count....
• Sitting on the Roof: Several characters sit on the roof of whatever building they are located in order to relax or get away from the group. Lotus is usually found on the roof of the Tower.

• Surveillance as the Plot Demands: Omega keeps a sharp eye on the heroes, even having moles placed on the ship to keep someone living and under his influence near them at almost all times.
  • Takamagahara knows essentially every move the Heroes make the moment they make it. If not sooner.
• The Power of the Sun: Diana/Delta. Her most(?) powerful attack involved creating a massive star many times the size of Earth's Sun. And causing it to go supernova.
• There Are No Therapists: None of the characters bother to find time for therapy, despite having severe psychological problems caused by their experiences.
• Toxic Phlebotinum: Seithr is not only a powerful energy source, it also negates mental abilities and can burn through organic material in mere moments.
• Transforming Mecha: Genesis Eternal (The bold lettering being an official part of the name.) Originally a fighter craft known as the Utter Bastard, it was reworked by Mia and Will into one of these.
• Troperiffic: Half the people involved in the story are avid tropers, so this is expected. Many times tropes are subverted, invoked and lampshaded.
• True Companions: When push comes to shove, this is how the Heroes feel about one another.
• There Is No Kill Like Overkill: The Elites have a tendency to do so.
• Undercover as Lovers: Rawk and Crystal were this when they were with Ve'Andra.
• Unified Naming System: The Heroes group is called…the Heroes. They never named themselves and the people they helped simply called their rescuers the Heroes. Awesome attempts to name his group the Villains just to go with the name-scheme. There is also the Empire and the Coalition, though their official names are much longer.
• Unsuspectingly Soused: Ebony grabbed three bottles of what she assumed was vodka from the kitchen, planning only to get buzzed thanks to her natural resistance. However, she grabs something that’s only supposed to be drunk by dragons.
  • Mausolinia brings a create of drinks called epsh for everyone to drink. Hilarity Ensues.

• Villainous Crush: Liquid believes to be in love with Nayru and Issac was in love with Lotus.
• Villainous Rescue: Omega saves Ebony and in proxy the others by stopping the Behemoth King before it gores her. While it gave Mo O enough time to destroy it, Ebony would not have survived unless Omega intervened.
  • Taka has saved the Heroes multiple times, to their confusion/annoyance since he is typically murdering his own allies.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Nayru of the Main Cast is capable of this through her water manipulation powers by becoming, and using water to alter her mass and size.
  • All of the Cubes are capable of shapeshifting, but they generally have little skill with it.
  • Sophia or Lambda, youngest of the Cubes, though her power is actually replication, is master of this, capable of turning into anything she has the energy to. Considering she has the power to fuel supernovas....The fact that her thinking remains the same no matter what form she takes is justified in that she is an Energy Being.
• Wedding Smashers: Several heroes crash Darmane's wedding for various reasons.
• Whale Egg: Several warm-blooded races in the series reproduce by laying eggs, such as the Cubare and Amelie’s demon centipede family.
• Wham Episode: When Awesome utterly destroys the first tower.
  • Note that said event was preceded by Omega slicing the Tower clean in half, and turning parts of it into Cyberspace.
• What Happened to the Mouse?: Multiple, yet justified by the fact that it is mostly written on the spot, as well as by people who never returned to give closure to their characters. Jessica and The Master are the most egregious examples as Jessica was Villain's ex-girlfriend and The Master suddenly left a large plothole. These characters are barely ever mentioned again.
• Wooden Katanas Are Even Better: Rawk once wielded a bokken enhanced with mass effect fields. The results were... Explosive.
• World of Badass: Damn near EVERYONE is badass, and if they aren't, then they will be pretty soon. (That or Cannon Fodder)
• World of Ham: A very large portion of the main cast has done something over-the-top at least once. More than once, probably.
• Would Hit a Girl: Very much in effect. It is lampshaded with Crystal, who complains that it is rude to hit a lady. Given that she told that to Anti-Hero Jalissa, it doesn’t end well.
• Xanatos Gambit: They are everywhere in the story.
• You Can't Go Home Again: If you are from an underdeveloped world like Nirn, this will be told to you due to the UP 3.
• Your Normal Is Our Taboo: The Cubare. Homosexuality is an unbelievably alien concept, but incest is the norm.
• Your Soul Is Mine!: Rawk was formerly a Type Two B, preserving the souls of his victims within his body. He is now a Type Two, processing the souls and using them as a weapon.
• Zerg Rush: Zerg attack the tower at the very beginning of the story, which birthed Awesome and was the first full-scale battle.
  • Awesome later plans that same trick with mass-producing clones for an army. The only problem is that he chose quantity over quality on purpose.
