While stopping in the gloomy town of Katrepat, the gang becomes the target of the stylish dark lord Vampyro, who wants Eva to become the vessel of his beloved, the Shushu Shadofang. Can the rest of the heroes stop a villain armed with a demon more powerful than Rubilax?

- And Now You Must Marry Me: Subverted. While Vampyro kidnaps Eva to make her his bride, he's going to use her as a vessel.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: The entire population of Katrepat is under the spell of Vampyro, and do his bidding.
- Brutal Honesty: In a flashback, Eva, on her first day as Amalia's handmaiden, was the only one honest enough to admit that the dress she made for herself was ridiculous in her face, causing everyone to make fun of Amalia.
- Cut His Heart Out with a Spoon: During his breakdown, Vampyro swears to capture the heroes, dry them into mummies, cut them up and eat a morsel of them each day for all eternity.
- Damsel in Distress: Eva. She is kidnapped so Shadofang can use her as a new body.
- Demon Lords and Archdevils: Downplayed, though the hierarchy of Shushu is touched upon in this episode, with Rubilax claiming that Shadofang/Ombrage is a five-element Shushu, and thus even above him, a four-element Shushu, in power and skills.
- Demonic Possession: Vampyro is one possessed by his Shushu.
- Diagonal Cut: Parodied; in a case of Mundane Made Awesome, Ruel uses his ghoulish nails to cut a fish into pieces with a rapid gesture of both hands.
- Fighting Your Friend: During the battle against Vampyro, Ruel gets his shadow stolen and turns into a Ghoul at his command. Luckily, all that Yugo needs is one kama to beat him.
- Greed: Weaponized against Ruel: not even when turned into a brainwashed, feral Ghoul he can't ignore the call of a shiny new Kama coin, all for him.
- Mundane Utility: In the end, Ruel uses his still ghoul-sized nails to cut and eat his food.
- No-Sell: Yugo and Sadlygrove prove immune to Vampyro's shadow-sucking powers, the former because he's pure of heart, the latter because he's a Shushu Guardian himself.
- Our Ghouls Are Creepier: Wakfu's Ghouls are people who had their shadow stolen by Shadofang and become black humanoids with skulls for heads who moan like zombies and serve as Vampyro's henchmen. Stronger people, such as Ruel, become stronger and more feral, with wilder hair and long talon-like nails.
- Sealed Evil in a Can: Shadofang is confined inside her ring, and can use her powers only through Vampyro. The plan was to have her possess Eva so that she could really free herself.

- Vampyro quotes Dracula when he appears before the heroes in the tavern.
- Town with a Dark Secret: Katrepat is a creepy, gloomy burg with zombie-like inhabitants surrounding a sinister black tower, which hosts a fallen vampire-like Shushu guardian. When Shadofang is defeated, everything goes back to normal.
- Villainous Breakdown: The discovery of Vampyro's embarrassing allergy makes him furious but also weakens the effectiveness of Shadofang's magic.
- Weaksauce Weakness: Vampyro is incredibly powerful, and seemingly unstoppable... and is allergic to Tofus like Az.
