Fuller: Who the hell are you? [Beat] All right "Harry", let's start with an easier question: where the hell are you from?
Ioki: [Beat] Vietnam.

It's Christmas time at Jump Street, and Judy's going away to Chicago to celebrate, while Hanson's going to take his girlfriend Amy to meet his mother. But at the team's Christmas Eve party, an Internal Affairs officer walks in on them to drop the bomb on them that Ioki never legally had that name, but stole someone's identity to get into the police force. In light of the investigation that follows, Ioki opens up to the rest of the team and tells them he actually is Vietnamese, lost his parents in The Vietnam War, and how he escaped his native and (at the time) war-ridden country to immigrate into the U.S.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Armor-Piercing Question : After Ioki is revealed to be Vietnamese, Hanson talks to Fuller (a Vietnam war veteran), who's not being very supportive of Ioki. After the following conversation takes place, Fuller changes his attitude towards Ioki:
Hanson: Do you know how many Vietnamese officers we have on the force?
    Fuller: No.
    Hanson: One. Now.
  • Christmas Episode: Set against the backdrop of Christmas, this episode is about the police finding out that Ioki has been lying about his identity. It has flashbacks taking place in '70s Vietnam, but in present (In Universe) time it is Christmas, and during it, all characters have a Christmas dinner together.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Ioki as a character normally gets much less attention than Hanson and Penhall, but gets this episode devoted to him and his backstory.
  • An Immigrant's Tale: The episode is about how Ioki immigrated into the U.S. from Vietnam. It shows his journey to get there, and how he (mostly) learned English by watching TV once he was in the U.S.
  • Origins Episode: This episode tells Ioki's backstory / history, something we didn't know anything about before.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Ioki was originally written as genuinely Japanese. After Dustin Nguyen told the creators about his own experiences as a Vietnamese refugee, they were inspired to write it into the character.
  • Sexy Santa Dress: In the pre-opening-credits-scene, a woman is (briefly) seen to be wearing Santa-themed, red-with-white-fur-lining, sleeveless and short dress. It's a Christmas dress and sexy, and is the first clue this is a Christmas episode.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: Most of the episode is showing Harry in Vietnam back in the '70s, while In Universe it's 80's Christmas time.
