Megatron comes up with a brand new plan; bring Cybertron to Earth and then harvest the energy of the natural disasters caused by it. Can the Autobots risk the well-being of their home planet to save Earth?

Transformers: Dark of the Moon would later use elements of this episode and of "Megatron's Master Plan". Transformers: The Last Knight re-used the element of bringing Cybertron to Earth.

Tropes

  • Artistic License – Physics: The Autobots knock Cybertron away from Earth by focusing their fire on the Decepticon's shuttle, full of extremely explosive energon. The explosion is large enough to move Cybertron almost instantly, but doesn't affect either planet in the slightest; and Megatron survives being at ground zero for the explosion and scarcely seems damaged at all.
  • Big Damn Heroes: At the beginning of Part 3, the Decepticons are about to destroy Brawn and Bumblebee and take Spike, but Wheeljack, Skyfire and Trailbreaker blast through the walls to rescue them.
  • Big "NO!": Spike screams this while shedding a Single Tear at the end of Part 2, when his father triggers the alarm that alerts the Decepticons to their presence.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Dr. Arkeville turns Spike's dad against him & the Autobots with a microchip. He gets better.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: The microchips invented by Dr. Arkeville that's implanted in the captured humans give them near-superhuman strength. One alone can take down a single Autobot.
  • Did Not Think This Through: During Part 2, when Optimus tells Grimlock he must help stop the disasters, Grimlock responds he doesn't care about what happens to Earth. When Wheeljack points out that Grimlock's on Earth, the Dinobot leader responds that he hadn't thought of that.
  • The End of the World as We Know It: Megatron's plan to bring Cybertron into Earth's orbit to harvest the energy of the resultant disasters. Once he has enough, he leaves for Cybertron, leaving Earth to be wiped out.
  • Exact Words: This exchange between Megatron and Dr. Arkeville:
Dr. Arkeville: Remember our agreement, Megatron. The Earth is to be mine when you are through with it.
Megatron: It will be... what's left of it.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Optimus summons Cybertron to Earth after Megatron convinces him it's the only way to save Cybertron. Ironhide consoles him, telling Prime that any of the Autobots would've done the same.
  • I Got You Covered: Skyfire covers Spike and the Autobots in Cybertron while they escape, shooting down the Decepticon ships following them and blowing up turrets.
  • "I Know You Are in There Somewhere" Fight: Spike tried to get through his mind controlled dad through this as he was able to get through to him a couple of times but didn't last very long. However, Wheeljack was able to set Spike's dad free from his mind control through a new invention he made.
  • I Have No Son!: When Spike rejects his brainwashed father's offer to join the Decepticons, the latter tells him to stop calling him his dad.
  • Implausible Boarding Skills: The Autobots surf across the ocean.
  • Multi-Part Episode: A 3-episode story.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Fire-retardant foam was enough to send Megatron running in terror.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After summoning Cybertron, Optimus immediately realize he's dooming Earth.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Shockwave tries to shoot Skyfire, but ends up blasting a hole in the wall that allows him to escape.
  • Not Quite Dead: Megatron survives the explosion of his shuttle, though no one else is aware of this until the next episode.
  • Planetary Relocation: Megatron succeeds in creating a space bridge large enough to teleport Cybertron to Earth to harvest Energon from the gravitational conflict formed from Cybertron being in orbit around Earth. The worst part? He managed to get Optimus Prime to complete the teleportation by convincing him that Cybertron would be destroyed instead of Earth if the process isn't completed.
  • Sadistic Choice: Megatron stands down from using the space bridge to bring Cybertron to Earth, telling Optimus that he will do it instead. Prime relents when Megatron points that he'd be responsible for Cybertron's destruction, Prime himself realizing Cybertron's still inhabited.
  • Season Finale: Aired as such in Japan due to Skyfire's status as a Bandai toy meaning the legal issues had to be resolved.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Megatron suspects this about Dr. Arkeville after noticing the slaves break free of their hypnosis until Mirage shows himself as the one responsible
    • When he later leaves for Cybertron, the other Decepticons realize he left without them and take off after the cruiser. Implying that Megatron was going to do this to his own forces once he had finished collecting the energy needed for the journey back.
