Recap / The Powerpuff Girls 2016 S 03 E 03 Blossom 3

Go To

Villainess DupliKate is confronted by the girls. Her duplicating ray hits Blossom which creates two monochrome copies of her. They're much like her but it's driving Buttercup insane. She and Bubbles split off to create their own crime fighting duo while Blossom is getting irked by her duplicates herself.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Bat Signal: The Mayor uses one to summon Buttercup and Bubbles, who have assumed Captain Ersatz identities to Batman and Robin.
  • Epic Fail: When Bubbles and Buttercup show up in their Batman-esqe outfits to save Blossom. Their plan is to...use their belts to hit the tanks. They easily get blasted back.
  • Expendable Clone: Averted. Both the two Blossom clones and the DupliKate clones survive the episode.
  • Hoist By Her Own Petard: The girls defeat DupliKate by having her and her clone army surround the girls with their tanks and fire. Naturally the girls get out of the way, causing them all to blast themselves.
  • Inexplicably Identical Individuals:
    • The three Blossoms. The two duplicates are very much like the real Blossom, except when they hog all the strawberry milk, they beat Blossom to cleaning, and then they hold up a battle with DupliKate by conducting focus group research about it.
    • DupliKate does this to herself, making four additional copies in her second battle with the girls. When she (and her copies) are captured and arrested, she whines that another duplicate of her did it.
  • Me's a Crowd: After Blossom gets hit with duplicating ray, her clones become this for Bubbles, Buttercup and eventually Blossom. DupliKate likewise invokes this on herself in the last battle with the girls.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: When Bubbles and Buttercup don their Batman-esqe outfits, virtually everyone sees right through them.
  • Running Gag: "Do I have you teach everything about superheroing?" "No!...Yes".
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Buttercup and (to a lesser extent) Bubbles leave Blossom when the two duplicate Blossoms become too much to stand.
