For Halloween, Lincoln and Clyde have scoped out a fancy neighborhood to make their dreams of scoring full-size candy bars a reality. Meanwhile, Lucy puts on a haunted maze, and the younger girls scheme to get maximum candy.

"Tricked!"

  • Accidentally Real Fake Address: Lincoln shoos some bullies away to "1216 Franklin Avenue", belatedly realizing that's his own address.
  • Afraid of Blood: Hank and Hawk get nauseous when seeing Clyde’s nosebleed. This is later turned against them in Lucy's corn maze, where she pours a bucket of fake blood on them.
  • Barbaric Bully: Hank and Hawk are the "big, muscular, not very bright" type of bullies.
  • Battle Discretion Shot: Lincoln and Clyde sneak into Hank and Hawk's treehouse to find the missing candy while the latter two are asleep, only to wake the two bullies and all hell breaks loose, which is comically censored out with a picture of a pretzel. Cue in the next shot where Lincoln and Clyde are in a dumpster as human pretzels.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: There is a trick-or-treater in a bedsheet ghost costume in this episode.
  • Buried Treasure: Lincoln and Clyde can't safely store the huge haul of candy at either of their homes so they bury it.
  • Call-Back:
    • After beating them up, Hank and Hawk turn Lincoln and Clyde into human pretzels, which is what Lori threatened to do to Lincoln in "Get the Message". Unlike Lori who likely just said it to scare Lincoln, the two brutes actually can and do follow up on it.
    • Lincoln's comment that his sisters would pounce on his candy is likely a reference to them being chocoholics in "Lincoln Loud: Girl Guru", given the candies' status as full size bars.
    • This isn't the first time Lana is willing to wear a dress.
    • Luna's line to Lucy ("Halloween's kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you") is actually a reference to the "Slice of Life" short, in which she has almost the same line.note
  • The Cast Show Off: Luna's showstopper number, the titular "Tricked", is a chance for her voice actress, Nika Futterman, to show off her singing voice in more than Luna's random riffing and shrieking.
  • Chainsaw Good: Lynn Jr.'s Halloween costume invokes The Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes.
  • Coordinated Clothes:
    • Lola and Lana employ a combination of twin cuteness, plus matching costumes, plus changing into other matching costumes to maximize their candy intake.
    • Lincoln and Clyde match as "Alistair and Nigel" and their costumes go together as Ace and One-Eyed Jack.
  • Cuteness Overload: Lisa and Lily respectively wear a kangaroo and baby roo costume in order to invoke this so that Lisa can get more candy per house.
  • Darker and Edgier: While it is still just fake, there is still a considerable amount of blood and gore, mostly stemming from the haunted corn maze. Heck, the first scene of the episode involves Mr. Loud discovering a fake severed head with fake blood in the fridge.
  • Dull Surprise: Lucy whenever she claims she's excited or happy. Lincoln has to assure the audience (and Clyde) that, yes, she is excited, since she sounds as monotone as always.
  • Expressive Accessory: Played with. Someone offscreen throws a carved pumpkin with a shape of a smiling face on Luan's head for telling bad puns. When she later laughs over her joke about pumpkins, the pumpkin's smile widens and its eyes squints.
  • Fat Bastard: Hank and Hawk, a pair of bullies who are both fat despite their allusions to working out. One makes a reference to being too full to eat more candy, let alone chase kids for it. Then they burst into laughter at their own joke.
  • The Grim Reaper: Lucy's Halloween costume. She gets to invoke this further near the end of the episode when she "cuts" Hank and Hawk's heads off with her scythe (she's actually cutting a rope to drop fake blood on them).
  • Halloween Episode: The episode takes place on Halloween.
  • Hockey Mask and Chainsaw: This is how Lynn Jr. dresses up for Halloween.
  • Homage:
    • The opening credits has a riff that sounds like part of the theme to The Munsters.
    • Luna's rhymed opening to "Tricked" harkens back to the Vincent Price monologue/rap from "Thriller".
  • Identical Stranger: Alistair and Nigel, two boys who live in Huntington Manor, look just like Lincoln and Clyde. Lincoln and Clyde use this to their advantage by posing as the two boys so the gatekeeper, Wyatt, lets them inside the manor.
  • Instant Costume Change: Lola and Lana's strategy for getting more candy is to quickly change into different costumes and visit the same house several times in a row.
  • Kangaroo Pouch Ride: Lisa’s costume is a kangaroo, with Lily riding in the pouch.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The second half of the episode is focused on Lincoln and Clyde getting their revenge on Hank and Hawk for ruining everyone's Halloween by trashing the neighborhood. This is after they were the ones that led the bullies to their neighborhood to begin with for the sake of getting full size candy bars at Huntington Manor.
  • Lured into a Trap: To get back at Hank and Hawk, Lincoln and Clyde pretend to have bags full of candy, and milk chocolate, which Hank and Hawk like most, and lure the bullies into Lucy's maze. By the time they get out, they are not only screaming their heads off, but also covered in Lucy's fake blood.
  • Mad Scientist: Luan dresses up as one, with Mr. Coconuts as Frankenstein's Monster.
  • Method Acting: Lisa hops into the rest of her kangaroo costume and spends the rest of her in costume appearances hopping.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lincoln and Clyde realize that, by directing Hank and Hawk away from Huntington Manor and towards Franklin Avenue, they caused the two to ruin everyone else's Halloween.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: To prevent Hank and Hawk from going to Huntington Manor, where he and Clyde can get full size candy bars, Lincoln sends them to his own neighborhood. When they get back from trick or treating, it turns out that the Hank and Hawk trashed the neighborhood, stole everyone's candy, and effectively ruined everyone else's Halloween.
  • Nosebleed: Clyde's tendency to do this gives Lincoln a plan to rid the neighborhood of Hank and Hawk, since seeing blood makes them sick.
  • Ominous Pipe Organ: Courtesy of Luna.
  • Playing Sick: Mr. Loud claims he has the flu, or the plague, or a Charley horse, in order to avoid having to go outside on Halloween. The kids don't fall for it since he tries this trick every year.
  • Rule of Three:
    • Mr. Loud makes three separate claims that he's too sick or hurt to trick or treat.
    • When Lincoln and Clyde find out who ruined Halloween:
      • The "two big stinkers" who smashed the jack o'lanterns, TP'd the neighborhood, and stole everyone's candy. Lincoln tells Clyde there are plenty of big stinkers in their own neighborhood, as he tries to rationalize that it wasn't the two bullies he directed to his street.
      • Lana mentions their big, dumb laughs.
      • Lincoln admits it was them when Lola references their creepy baby masks.
    • Lola and Lana's costume changes.
    • The bullies doing stuff together.
  • Running Gag:
    • Mr. Loud screaming "I hate Halloween!" whenever something scares him.
    • The twins' costume changes to cadge more candy.
    • Hank and Hawk's bromance is such that they do everything together:
"Aw, man! If you're gonna [do some activity] then I'll..."
  • Shout-Out: When Lincoln calls Lucy, she answers the phone with "You rang", the same way Lurch from The Addams Family always responds when the Addams call him.
  • Skeleton Motif: Luna on pipe organ has a skeleton body stocking and makeup for her costume.
  • Special Edition Title: At the end of the opening, during the part where Lily walks across the screen, she is wearing a ghost costume and instead of saying "Poo-poo", she says, "Boooo".
  • Synchronous Episodes: According to Episode 14 of Lincoln and Ronnie Anne's Vlog on YouTube, this episode takes place at the same time as The Casagrandes Halloween Episode, "New Haunts".
  • Toilet Paper Prank: Upon returning to Franklin Avenue, Lincoln and Clyde find out that Hank and Hawk did this to the whole street.
  • Trail of Bread Crumbs: Lincoln and Clyde are able to find Hank and Hawk's treehouse by following a trail of candy wrappers they left behind.
  • Vampire Vords: Lori does this when she shows off her vampire costume
Lori:"I literally vant to suck your blood".
  • Warning Song: Luna writes a song warning against some dangerous creatures who "aren't herbivores" and probably "haven't been fed in a long time".
  • When She Smiles: Lucy lives up to her fame as The Stoic by constantly claiming she's happy with her labyrinth while still maintaining a straight face. This makes the couple of times when she does smile (when Lincoln offers her to start over the labyrinth, and when the children of the neighborhood return after the bullies are driven away) particularly poignant.
  • Wingding Eyes: Clyde got spiral eyes post-beatup.
  • Zombie Gait: Mrs. Loud, who's in character as a zombie for the maze.
