Recap / The Bridge Ch 26 Words Of Wisdom

Go To

Thalia is tending Appleloosa's bar when Rodan staggers in and hastily says goodbye. He tries to leave, but she orders him to tell her what is wrong. He explains how the princesses asked him to put on an airshow in Neighagra in an attempt to entertain the populace and prove the Kaiju are good. While he understands the reasoning, he's worried that it might not work, especially if ponies saw his true form. To put it in perspective, the door is the size of his true form's eye. He comments that people usually become terrified when faced with beings vastly more powerful than them.

Thank you, Thalia.

Thalia says she understands, and shares that the citizens were terrified of Princess Celestia when she first showed up. After all, she was immortal and had magical powers that dwarfed all others. After Nightmare Moon was banished, some had the gall to accuse her of being a tyrant and start a rebellion. Instead of fighting them, Celestia started hosting parties and special events like the Grand Galloping Gala and the Summer Sun Celebration that allowed her to mingle with and entertain the citizens so that they could see she was just like them. With everypony supporting her, the rebels had no choice but to back down. This approach also worked for Princess Luna when she returned from her banishment.

Thalia encourages him to at least try the airshow. If it doesn't work, he will at least be welcome in Appleloosa. He thanks her with a surprise hug and leaves to join Applejack at the train station.

Discord finished repairing Ponyville after the damage the Destroyah babies caused and life returns to normal. Derpy flies in and delivers a letter to Rainbow Dash. When she reads it, she gets so excited that she starts celebrating by flying all over town, causing sonic booms everywhere. Most of the townsfolk just put in earplugs and return to their business, but Rarity cannot ignore it. She yells into a megaphone at her to come down, but can't get her attention until she quotes an embarrassing line Rainbow's mother said about her. Rainbow apologizes for her loss of self control, and presents the letter from the princesses, asking her to participate in the airshow in Neighagra. Rainbow is ecstatic as this means she can show off for the Wonderbolts and possibly impress them. Rarity gets excited for the chance at designing and making Rainbow's flight suit.

Rarity reads the rest of the letter and finds Rainbow will be in a team with Rodan. That takes the wind out of Rainbow's sails. She detests working with a partner because she would be forced to slow down for them; if her partner couldn't keep up with her, she would lose points for lack of teamwork. Rarity reminds her that while she is the fastest flier in Equestria, the Kaiju are not from Equestria. Rainbow cheers up at the possibility that Rodan can keep up with her, but then starts to panic that Rodan may be faster than her and flies off. Pinkie Pie shows up and asks what is going on. Rarity says she fears she awakened a sleeping giant, Rainbow Dash's ego.

Princess Celestia leads Godzilla to the barracks and asks if he is okay. He says that since evil Kaiju can attack at any time, he's learned to stay awake almost indefinitely, just taking naps here and there. She says she had to do something similar while Luna was imprisoned in the moon. He promises to guard Luna while she sleeps. She hints she'd like it to develop into something more, but he doesn't pick up on the innuendo. He thanks her for the spell that allowed him to see his memories of his mother. She says she showed his memories to some of the nobles and they are starting to approve of him, but they have requested his presence tomorrow. She then asks him why he is called a king, since Luna told her he isn't really royalty.

Godzilla: To be honest, I never set out to become one. That title was placed upon me not by my own volition. Maybe it's because of power, maybe it's because of experience, or something else but over time others came to trust and follow my lead. I really can't say what caused it. But, I'm told a good king looks out for the well being of those around him and I've been trying to do that for as long as I've had the power to. Both for my allies and world, as well as here if need be. My mother believed in making the world better by doing what you did best for the benefit of others. My father believed in carving out your own path by your own choices. I like to think I've done both. I have the powers of a monster and I know it frightens a lot of folks; but I'll use them in the best ways I can think of. As far as I'm concerned, because I have this power the well being of those who don't should be my responsibility. If that burden makes me a king, so be it..... Just don't expect me to annex anything though. I had my hands full with just one world.

Celestia sighs and says with a mixture of happiness and sadness that he reminds her of another good king she once knew, likely meaning the good King Sombra from the Mirror Universe. She says he can just call her Celestia and he says she can just call him Junior. They arrive at the barracks and she leaves while hinting that he can call Luna "Lulu".

Captain Blueberry Frost is very happy to see him. Her boisterous attitude reminds him of Raiga, which he considers a scary thought. She asks if he knows what tug'o'war is. He does, since some of the JSDF members played it with him when he was a baby. The Captain made a bet that it would take at least ten ponies to budge him. He smiles and holds one end of a chain. One guard pulls against him and is quickly beaten. With each victory, another guard joins the chain. Godzilla easily beats ten guards, winning Blueberry's bet, but they decide to test the limits of his strength. When they try twelve guards, the chain breaks. They try three more chains, but they also break.

Whoa.

Prince Blueblood, accompanied by his personal guards, shows up. After he and his guards spend a few seconds gawking at how huge Godzilla is, he asks to speak to him. Blueberry Frost sighs and warns Godzilla to brace himself, as Blueblood is prone to long-winded speeches and rants, like the time some jerk stole his ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala and impersonated him, tarnishing his name. Indeed giving a long-winded speech with a lot of big words, Blueblood introduces himself and acknowledges and thanks Godzilla for his defense of Canterlot from the Gyaos. He gives Godzilla a medal and says he will do his best to support him against nobles and citizens who oppose the Kaiju, then leaves. Stunned, Godzilla admits he could barely understand what he was saying. Stunned herself, Blueberry explains it to him.

Monster X wakes up to find he's tied up in the van. The Sirens have parked their van in a motel's parking lot and are now outside the van, watching him. They explain that they drove about 160 kilometers away from the city, so unless their attacker (Enjin) knows how to drive, it will take him a while to reach them. He asks why they saved him, and they say they want answers. He taunts them about how they must be scared that their hypnotic singing doesn't work on him. Aria loses her temper and punches the van with her newly enhanced strength, making it shake and scaring X, Adagio, and Sonata. She rants that they went through all the trouble of pulling him to safety and treating his injuries (which included his back being full of broken glass) so he'd better start talking.

He relents and admits he has no idea who Enjin is, but he could tell he was like him, a Kaiju. They don't know that term, so he explains that in his home world, he was a monster the size of a skyscraper, but turned into a human when he entered this realm. They ask why Enjin attacked them, and he guesses he was after their necklaces, just like him. The Sirens propose a temporary truce. If they work together, they might be able to defeat Enjin. He agrees, but warns that as soon as Enjin is dead, he's coming after their necklaces again. He requests a few days to train and relearn how to use his powers before he goes after Enjin. If they grant him that, then he swears that no matter what happens, he will not kill them when he takes their necklaces. They feel they have no choice but to agree.

The eyes of the Kaizer.

Adagio and Sonata leave to book a room in the motel. Aria attempts to pull X's mask off, but he reveals he untied himself and grabs her hand. With her new strength, she is able to break his grip, then asks about last night. He is not aware of what he did as Kaizer Ghidorah, but she pulls down his sleeve and reveals the metal bracers Kaizer was wearing when he attacked her. He is surprised because he was not aware he was even wearing such a thing. She says last night, he was acting like a lunatic and attacked her, but she managed to drain some of his energy and now she has some of his powers. Her eyes turn from violet to red and she makes the gravity briefly distort. She hasn't told Adagio or Sonata yet. If they want any chance of beating Enjin, he's going to have to teach her how to wield it properly.
