Tropes:

  • All Part of the Show: Gangstalicious gets shot on-stage, with the audience thinking his cries for help are lyrics to his song, ironically titled "I Got Shot". No one thought to call an ambulance until 45 minutes later, so it's a miracle that he survived.
  • All Persons Fictitious Disclaimer: A humorously exaggerated one at the start of the episode:
The following is a completely fictional work of satire. Any similarities with actual rappers is totally, completely coincidental. Also, I ain't dissin' nobody's city, or region, or... whatever geographic affiliation you got. I love everybody. Seriously, I don't want any of you niggas running up on me at the club. I don't have no crew, and they don't pay me enough for bodyguards. I know how ya'll niggas do. It's just jokes, man. Dictated. Not Read: The Management.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: While the gangsters hold Ruckus at gunpoint:
Ruckus: Say that again? I couldn't hear you over the sound of me shittin' myself.
  • Brick Joke: Robert watches a music video titled "Thugin' Luv" and tries to figure out what it's about. Near the end, Gangstalicious is confronted by a man named Lincoln who talks about "Thugin' Luv" being a relationship they had in the past... right before he kisses him.
  • Broken Pedestal: Looking shorter, being cowardly, dropping your gun, not being as rich as you thought, and kissing another dude are among the stuff that makes Riley lose respect for Gangstalicious. He passes out from dealing with other gangsters and believes it was all a dream, so it's somewhat subverted.
  • Expecting Someone Taller: Gangstalicious' videos make him out to be a lot bigger than he actually is.
    Riley: Damn nigga, you short.
  • Gangbangers: Gangstalicious is being chased by a trio of black gangsters who want him dead.
  • Gayngster: It turns out Gangstalicious and the leader of the three gangsters (Lincoln) are ex-lovers. Their break-up turned really violent though.
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Three gangsters, one of whom had two guns, run out of bullets without hitting one naked, blindfolded, and slowly-walking Gangstalicious.
Gangbanger: I can't believe this man, we suck.
    • Earlier, during Gangstalicious' documentary, he and another rapper got into a brawl, which leads to a gunfight. They miss every shot at point blank range and end up shooting themselves.
  • "No. Just… No" Reaction: Riley's reaction when he sees his idol making out with another man.
  • Only a Flesh Wound: Gangstalicious was shot twice on stage, one of them in his right shoulder, and laid there bleeding out for 45 minutes before anyone thought to call an ambulance. He got better.
  • Rated G for Gangsta: Acknowledged when Riley and Gangstaliscious are locked in the trunk and Gangstaliscious tells Riley about how big an influence Ice Cube was on him. Riley replies, flabbergasted, "The dude that makes family movies??"
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: For all of his heat on his grandsons, Robert refuses to let Riley visit a rapper who is just recovering from a violent scuffle. Not that it stops Riley from finding a way.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Riley gets past the desk nurse by claiming to be "one of Gastalicious's many illigitimate children".
  • Special Guest: Mos Def as Gangstalicious, Sway Calloway as himself.
  • The Tape Knew You Would Say That:
Sway: Rapper Gangstalicious has been shot.
    Huey and Riley: Again?!
    Sway: Again.
  • Tempting Fate: During Gangstalicious' documentary, the rapper vows never to get shot again. Then, the Breaking News reveals he just got shot. Again.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Robert calls Riley for the orange juice he "promised" to get, and one of the hospital patients wants to buy the old phone off of Riley. Unfortunately, Riley is within earshot of Gangstalicious' rivals.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Among other things, Riley chews out Gangstalicious for dropping his gun. That's very not gangsta.
  • Woman Scorned: Well, gay man scorned.
