Tropes

  • Adaptational Intelligence: Tokka and Rahzar both appear here. While in the original film they spawned from the two were idiots who could barely speak, here they're incredibly intelligent and articulate.
  • Big Brother Instinct: While Rahzar isn't related to Tokka, he treats him like a valued younger sibling, to the point that he goes on a vengeful crusade when Tokka is captured by Dirk Savage.
Rahzar: Tokka, you are my only friend.
  • The Bus Came Back: Mondo Gecko returns after his debut episode.
  • Excellent Judge of Character: Splinter, in his great wisdom, assumed that Dirk Savage would be the key to stopping A.J. Howard's plans, which the Turtles are skeptical about. He turns out to be entirely correct, when the Turtles successfully convince Dirk that he was manipulated and he helps them oppose Howard.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: A.J. Howard hires the eponymous mutant hunter to capture mutants, claiming them to be a menace to society with no regard to them being good or evil. However, not only is Howard a mutant himself, he plans to build an army of brainwashed mutants in hopes of mutating and controlling the entire human race, this leads to Don and Raph stopping a vengeful Rahzar from killing Dirk in order to convince him to turn against Howard.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Tokka and Rahzar have little relevance to this episode's plot other than being victims of circumstance. What's more, they initially raid the Crystal Palace mall just to find some food.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Vernon's report claims that over half the city are on-board with A.J. Howard's Anti-Mutant campaign, including Vernon himself, who had been saved by the Turtles countless times.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Dirk Savage initially backed A.J. Howard's anti-mutant campaign and did everything in his power to capture them, not knowing that Howard actually intends on using them as his own personal army, as well as activating the bracelets worn by anti-mutant protestants to brainwash them into slaves. The Turtles go to great lengths to persuade him that he was fooled.
