Recap / Stargate Universe S 1 E 18 Subversion

Go To

Rush comes to Young with vague dream impressions that he thinks are transferred memories from a communication stone exchange with Telford. He believes Telford is passing information to the Lucian Alliance.

Young allows Rush to exchange and informs Jack O'Neill of the plan.

However, Rush is discovered when he makes contact; the Lucian Alliance commander is quite happy to torture him into cooperating with her plan — dial the nine-chevron address and take Destiny by force.

Tropes

  • Continuity Nod: Young mentions to Young that they know the Goa'uld possessed brainwashing technology.
  • Jerkass Has a Point – Telford may be brainwashed, but he isn't wrong about how the SGC massively destabilized multitudes of worlds in their fight against the Goa'uld.
  • Kidnapped Scientist – Kiva is quite pleased to discover she has Rush of all people
  • The Main Characters Do Everything: An SG-1 variation. Despite commanding Homeworld Command's resources, O'Neill taps Daniel to surveil Telford. It could be justified by Jack's fears that Homeworld Command's been compromised by the Lucian Alliance and wishing to keep this 'in-house' using people he trusts.
  • The Reveal: It was Telford who compromised Icarus Base back in "Air". He's been an undercover, brainwashed spy for the Lucian Alliance this whole time.
  • Required Spinoff Crossover: Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson both return for their penultimate Season One apperances.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: SG-1 had previously established that with the collapse of the Goa'uld Empire, their ships and technology had fallen into the hands of the Free Jaffa Nation, the Lucian Alliance, and other parties. It is completley plausible that the Lucian Alliance (or at least Kiva's faction) got their hands on the same kind of brainwashing tech previously utilized by Apophis and Ba'al.
