This episode contains examples of:

  • Chained Heat: The kor mak bracelets act as a variant of this for Dr. Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran. They are not physically chained at the wrist, but if they get more than one hundred feet from each other, they will begin to feel ill, which can be fatal.
  • Femme Fatale: Vala Mal Doran. She is a thief and con artist, but she has also helped out the protagonists at times.
  • Shaggy Dog Story: The good news is that the protagonist get a necklace back to Arlos Kadawam, the scientist studying the kor mak bracelets. The bad news is that Arlos can't sever the bond between Vala and Daniel, although he thinks the bond will wear off eventually.
