Jyn comes to the aid of a little girl bullied by stormtroopers.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Unless it's a nickname, the tooka's name is Tookie.
- Combat Pragmatist: Jyn shoots out a pipe to cover her escape and then drops the stormtroopers into a sewer
- Continuity Nod:
- Jyn hesitates for a moment before revealing her true name. As revealed in Rebel Rising, she was going by an alias at the time.
- The Empire taking cats seems weird, but there has been one instance in Battlefront: Twilight Company where an Imperial governor had another species of cats culled out of fear too many were becoming feral.
- The world is Garel (and is in fact the first instance we've seen of Garel outside of the ports), a major recurring location in Rebels.
- Cute Kitten: Tookie.
- Friend to All Children: As seen in the film, Jyn has a weakness for children in danger.
- One Degree of Separation: The short takes place on Garel, meaning that Jyn was a short hyperspace trip away from the events of Rebels. In fact, the Phoenix Cell was on Garel for a short time during the second season, leaving the possibility that Jyn may have been around during that time. Turns out to be a case of Foreshadowing.
- Only Friend: By the girl's own admission, her tooka is all she has.
- Produce Pelting: Jyn chucks a meiloorun at a stormtrooper to get his attention.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Tookie might be the cutest tooka on screen yet, and her personality makes her all the more endearing.
