After being defeated by Star again, Ludo fires one of his minions, Lobster Claws, and leaves him on Earth. Marco takes it upon himself to try and reform Lobster Claws, but Star remains skeptical that monsters can be anything but evil.

Tropes:

  • Always Chaotic Evil: A view on monsters that Star expresses throughout the episode.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: At the end, Star admits that Lobster Claws did have some good in him, which Marco decides he didn't have enough.
  • Cat Up a Tree: One of the things Lobster Claws tries to do to prove himself a hero. It goes well, until he tries to eat the cat... and the little girl who owns the cat.
  • Cone of Shame: The squirrel that was hurt by Lobster Claws in the beginning can be seen later wearing a cone and bandages.
  • Empathic Weapon: Star's wand demonstrates this for the second time. When Lobster Claws gets his mitts on it, it vacillates between a prickly clawed wand with a slit eye and a slightly cutesy two-clawed eye wand, depending on which alignment he's currently considering. When Star gets it back, it shifts back to its usual appearance.
  • Epic Fail:
    • Star is being held by another monster, Deer-Beard, and Lobster Claws is instructed to take her wand. Despite being less than a foot away, Lobster Claws ends up taking one of Deer-Beard's antlers by mistake.
    • Lobster Claws tries to help a little old lady across the street, and ends up destroying four city blocks and starting a huge fire in the split-second Star takes her eyes off him.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Lobster Claws has great trouble figuring out what good is, particularly the part about eating kids. "Not even the annoying ones?"
  • Evil Feels Good: Why Lobster Claws goes back to Ludo, especially after feeling the power of Star's corrupted wand.
  • Fight Scene Failure: In-Universe when Star and Lobster Claws feign a fight in order to impress Ludo and have him take Lobster Claws back. Ludo and his monsters still fall for it, though.
  • The Golden Rule: Marco states it outright as the key to being good.
  • Hero with an F in Good: Lobster Claws after attempting a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Star spends most of the episode saying Lobster Claws can't be turned good, but when she tries to get him back to her side she claims she believed he could be good all along.
  • Impact Silhouette: Lobster Claws leaves a hole shaped like him from bursting through the back of the burning house.
