Jax and Piney sell 5 AK-47s to an old war buddy of Piney's, but it turns out to be a bad idea when the buddy's militia uses them to free one of their own, killing cops and innocent people along the way. Jax must deal with the fallout as Clay is brought in for questioning, and Gemma is beginning to through menopause.
- Affably Evil: Nate is a pretty friendly guy for a Right-Wing Militia Fanatic.
- Alas, Poor Villain: Jax, Opie and Piney aren't happy with having to kill Nate along with the rest of the militia.
- Asshole Victim: Russell and the rest of the militia. No one was sad to see them go.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: June Stahl is shown in this episode to be more or less a fun-loving, wise-cracking Hero Antagonist before further episodes would turn her into the snide Manipulative Bitch and Jerkass we all know and Love to Hate.
- Jerkass: Russell Meineke, big time.
- Justified Title: SAMCRO spend the episode grappling with their efforts to offload the AK47s (and the consequences of selling to Nate Meineke), while Gemma bemoans the fact that she's finally hitting the menopause at the age of 51.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Piney admits that selling to the Meinekes was a mistake, and that he knows better than to let friendship interfere with business.
- Not What I Signed on For: Trammel tells Jax that he didn't sign on for burnt bodies and dead sheriffs after his partner is killed.
- Right-Wing Militia Fanatic: The Meineke militia, according to Stahl.
- Western Terrorists: Or homegrown terrorists, as Stahl puts it.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Jax receives one of these from Trammel for selling guns to the men that would kill his partner and two innocent people.
- You Are in Command Now: Jax becomes acting President until Clay's release. He handles it pretty damn well.
