With nearly all of the Chaos Emeralds in hand thanks to Rouge and Shadow, Eggman announces his intention to conquer the world, using the Emeralds to fire a laser cannon to intimidate the government. As Sonic and his allies try to grapple with the threat looming on them, Chris finds himself under Shadow's watch as the Ultimate Lifeform reflects on his past, along with a promise he made to a friend.
This episode contains examples of:
- Adapted Out: Knuckles' encounter with King Boom Boo is completely omitted, likely because the latter already appeared in a previous episode.
- Death Glare: Chris earns one from Shadow after he asks if Sonic is related to him.
- Detonation Moon: Eggman uses the Eclipse Cannon to blow up half of the moon, as with the game.
- Flashback Cut:
- At the beginning of the episode, Sonic looks back at the time Chris found him at the pool in the first episode.
- Knuckles looks back on his encounter with Rouge three episodes ago.
- Then there are the flashbacks of Shadow's memories of Maria.
- Got Volunteered: The others goad Knuckles into finding the key to the center of Eggman's base.
- Hand Gagging: Frances does this to Danny to prevent him from accidentally mentioning Sonic right next to a cop.
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Bokkun, while using the Egg Golem, manages to open the entrance to the lair in an attempt to crush Knuckles:Knuckles: I got the door open, are you happy now?
Sonic: Hmph. I guess so. - Perpetual Frowner: Shadow, which is lampshaded by Rouge:Rouge: Don't you ever smile?
