Jerry and Elaine are on their way back to New York, but learn their original flight has been canceled. As a result, Jerry ends up in first class and Elaine in coach. While Jerry has a wonderful flight with food, hot towels, and a beautiful blond model as a seat mate, Elaine suffers through the flight from hell. Back in New York, George and Kramer are supposed to meet Jerry and Elaine, but the change in flight - and then a change in airport - has them running all over the place. More mayhem ensues when Kramer thinks he recognizes someone from his past.
Tropes:
- Brick Joke: Early on in the episode, while the skycap is stowing Jerry and Elaine's luggage, he sends the former's to JFK Airport, where he's headed, and then derisively puts Elaine's on a flight to Honolulu. Sure enough, Jerry picks up his bag at the end, while Elaine's is riding on a conveyor belt all the way in Hawaii.
- The Chew Toy: Elaine has a really miserable time in this episode. Jerry flies first class with a supermodel, whereas Elaine is stuck in coach next to an annoying guy who overcrowds her all his luggage that he refuses to check. He makes it difficult for her to go to the bathroom, and then she has to wait to get back to her seat because the steward refuses to back up while he serves the passengers their dinner. When she finally does get back, there's no more food for her. And the end reveals her luggage went to Honolulu (though she only has herself to blame for that one because she insulted the skycap).
- Crossing the Burnt Bridge: George gets into an argument with a violent convict being escorted by federal marshals over the last TIME magazine on the rack and enjoys the moment to the fullest, taunting him about getting the magazine and wishes him "a nice life... sentence, that is!" Towards the end of the episode, George boards a plane looking for Jerry and Elaine, opens the lavatory door, and guess who he sees - without his shackles on. Nobody sees as the convict yanks George into the restroom and beats the ever-loving crap out of him.
- Episode on a Plane: The episode details the hilarity that ensues while Jerry and Elaine fly in a place, and George and Kramer as they try to pick them up at the airport.
- Girly Run: Jerry comments on this regarding Elaine's running style and Kramer comments on George over the same thing.
- Nice to the Waiter: Jerry makes a point to give the skycap a generous tip. Elaine, on the other hand, gets smarmy toward him when he claims he usually gets $5 a bag. She learns the hard way why this trope should be practiced because Jerry picks up his bag when he arrives, whereas Elaine's is sent to Honolulu out of spite.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: Elaine tries sneaking into first class, where there is an empty seat despite the plane reportedly being full. It feels nice and she's about to drift off to sleep, only to be caught by the stewardess and sent back to coach.
