Mordecai and Rigby master an arcade game but must defeat a prior high scorer, G.B.F., in an attempt to earn respect.
Tropes:
- Big "NO!": G.B.F. screams as Mordecai and Rigby win after the Head Explosion.
- Crocodile Tears: G.B.F. pulls this out when Mordecai and Rigby almost beat his record to guilt them into quitting.
- Defeat Means Respect: The main theme of the episode. Mordecai and Rigby earn the respect of everyone they beat at Broken Bonez. Except G.B.F.
- Epic Fail: Mordecai ends up getting negative points during his first attempt at Broken Bonez.
- Everyone Has Standards: It’s heavily implied that even if Mordecai and Rigby did lose to G.B.F., they would still have the respect of everyone else who was sympathetic when G.B.F. lied about devoting his entire life to the game and then booed him when he revealed it was a lie.
- Fun with Acronyms: G.B.F. stands for Garrett Bobby Ferguson, not Giant Bearded Face. Though he is a Giant Bearded Face as well.
- Groin Attack: Mordecai kicks G.B.F. between the legs when their competition degenerates into physical fighting, though since Ferguson is a Cephalothorax, he screams, "Ah, my chin!"
- How Is That Even Possible?: Rigby asks this after Mordecai gets negative points on his first attempt at Broken Bonez.
- Hypocrite: Rigby tells G.B.F. that he can't trick him and Mordecai into throwing the game for him because it's cheating. This coming from the Rascally Raccoon who has cheated on numerous occasions.
- Innocuously Important Episode: It's the events of this episode (specifically, the defeat of G.B.F.) that set up the season 4 premiere.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Well, it depends on what you mean by “harmed”, as GBF is a rather scathing parody of former Donkey Kong champ Billy Mitchell.
- Screw the Rules, They Broke Them First!: After G.B.F. gets called on manipulating Rigby and Mordecai into leaving the controls, he responds by saying, "Universe rules, baby; there are no rules." Rigby and Mordecai use his rationale as justification to distract him from losing.
- Sore Loser: G.B.F. does not take losing well, to the point that he guilt-trips Mordecai and Rigby into letting off the controls and explodes upon being defeated.
