* JerkassHasAPoint: Weiss spends the entire episode arguing with Blake because of how much she hates the White Fang. While Weiss is clearly bigoted towards the Faunus in general, as shown with her reaction to Sun's petty crimes and mischief-making, her hatred of the White Fang is not unjustified, since they ''are'' a terrorist group trying to KillAllHumans and her family has personally suffered at their hands.

* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Blake, after she realises that in her anger, she accidentally spilled her secret that she was a former member of the White Fang. She panics so much that she runs.

Trope misuse; it's not audience reaction — it's not for when the audience can see both sides. There has to be a character in-universe who is able to see that both sides of the argument have equal merit. That isn't happening here, it's just the audience seeing it.

* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Both Weiss and Blake bring up valid arguments regarding the White Fang.

'''Volume 1, Episode 15:'''
!The Stray

It's a sunny Friday afternoon, and Team RWBY are walking through Vale's streets. Weiss is insisting that the team head to the docks to meet the students from far-off Vacuo and welcome them to Vale, but Blake suspects she really just wants a good eye at the competition.

Ruby comes across a Dust store, vandalised and broken. Vale Police report it is the second incident this week, and none of the Lien (the currency of Vale) has been stolen, just the Dust. The White Fang are the top suspects, and Weiss agrees with the cops, calling the White Fang a gang of degenerates. Blake defends the White Fang, calling them perhaps a bit misguided, and suggests them being the robbers doesn't make sense regardless. Ruby agrees with Blake and suspects Roman Torchwick is behind the robberies. Weiss reiterates her opinion of "those Faunus" and says they know only how to lie, cheat and steal, trying Blake's patience again. The conversation is interrupted by a Faunus boy with the features of a monkey running past, authorities not far behind him. As he passes Blake, he winks at her. Weiss and the rest of the group give chase.

Weiss loses the boy, but instead runs (literally) into Penny Polendina. Penny is an awkward girl and Team RWBY quickly want out sharpish, but Ruby makes the mistake of calling her "friend". She asks for confirmation and seems ecstatic when Ruby says yes, they are friends. They learn she is a competitor in the tournament, and Weiss asks if they have seen "the filthy Faunus from the boat", [[NotSoStoic and Blake finally snaps]]. A heated argument ensues between Blake and Weiss that continues all through the day as Yang and Ruby look on.

Back in their dorm room, the argument is still going, heated as before. Blake accuses Weiss of being discriminatory, and then Weiss fires back that she is a victim of the White Fang's own actions. The war between the terrorist faction and her father's company has meant Weiss saw friends and family die and her father, infuriated by the losses, [[AbusiveParents would take his anger out on her]] [[FreudianExcuse which meant for a very rough childhood]]. As Ruby goes to console her, she shrugs her off and makes an explosive comment at Blake about how the White Fang are all liars, thieves and murderers. Blake then makes a fateful slip of the tongue: ''[[WhamLine "Well, maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!"]]'' Blake's anger gives way to horrible realization as Weiss steps back in shock. Blake's secret is out: she is a Faunus herself, and a former member of the White Fang to boot. She can only give a muted "I..." before she sprints out the room, Ruby calling after her.

Blake is alone, standing before the statue in the courtyard, quietly crying as she removes her bow to reveal a set of cat ears. A comment calls out that she looks better without it, and the monkey Faunus boy from before steps out.

She is not seen by the rest of her team throughout the remainder of Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, Blake is seen sitting at a table with Sun at some sort of café in downtown Vale, where she asks Sun if he wants to know more about her.
