The rangers have developed a little robot capable of finding hidden Energems, with the plan being to stow it on board Sledge's ship and retrieve it when he isn't looking. They have even called in
In the clearing, the rangers are ambushed by Sledge, who uses his Purple Energem powered blaster to freeze them all in place, planning to rob them of their Energems. Before he can do, Keeper appears and blasts him away, Sledge telling his crew that he will fight Keeper himself. The two do battle, and while Keeper is formidable, he is no match for an Energem's power. Keeper is apprehended and sent to Sledge's ship to be tortured.
With Keeper captured, Sledge returns to the frozen rangers, first stealing Tyler's red Energem, demorphing him. When he goes for Koda's Energem, Tyler fights back with Keeper's staff, it having been separated from him during the fight. The Ptera Zord arrives, and the rangers flee, Sledge returning to his ship to end this once and for all. He calls for his most powerful prisoner, the tentacled monster in solitary - Greenzilla!
Kendall in the midst of all the battling had snuck onto one of Sledge's transport pods and is now heading after Keeper. While the rangers want to go with her, Greenzilla attacks and hits the Ptera Zord. The seven rangers split up, Tyler and Shelby taking the Plesio Zord to rescue Kendall and Keeper, while the others use the other Zords to defeat Greenzilla before it annihilates Amber Beach.
Kendall arrives at the prison ship, and changes into one of the Hazmat suits the Vivix were wearing in order to be inconspicuous. Wrench hands her a briefcase containing the Purple Energem and tells her to put it in the vault for safekeeping, but she pilfers it when he isn't looking. Sledge meanwhile arrives to ask Wrench to prepare an upgrade to the Magnabeam; he wants to power it with the Red Energem so it will be capable of destroying Zords. After that, taking the Energems will be a piece of cake.
Except not from where Poisandra is standing. Upon hearing that rather than keep his promise, he will just continue to go after the Energems, she tells him enough is enough and declares her intentions to leave, Sledge desperately following her and apologizing. When Shelby and Tyler trip an alarm, Kendall destroys the monitor showing them, blowing her cover. She is sent to the Trash room, along with Keeper, and both are to be incinerated.
Kendall's quick thinking saves the pair however, as she uses a highly corrosive chemical the Vivix had stored to make a hole in the floor. The pair jump down, right into the midst of two Spikeballs. With Keeper's hands bound, Kendall fights alone to protect him, and in her moment of true courage, she bonds with the Purple Energem and becomes a ranger. With her new power she is able to hold off the Spikeballs until backup arrives in the form of Shelby and Tyler, who are shocked to find out Kendall is now a ranger.
