Max thinks he can resolve this dispute.

After the twerps experience some fishing shenanigans, a mix-up with Team Rocket leads to May and Jessie's Wurmple getting switched around.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Ambiguous Situation: It isn't clear if the Corphish Ash fished out of the water here will be the same one that would terrorize them a couple episodes later, although the dub implies they are one and the same.
  • Call-Back: Max proposes that the group visit Steven Stone in Granite Cave, as suggested by President Stone back in "Stairway to Devon".
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: When Jessie agrees with switch Wurmple with May, she decides to steal both instead.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Team Rocket's initial scheme: they rigged the fishing poles with much stronger threads, planning to pull the twerps into the water. Thing is, the threads are too strong, that the reverse is also true: namely, one of the twerps (May, of all people, too) hoisting their sub out of the water!
  • The Narrator: Gets The Other Darrin, in the form of Mike Pollock
  • Twin Switch: After a skirmish with Team Rocket, May and Jessie accidentally wind up swapping their Wurmple.
