While looking for firewood, Ash and his Chikorita stumble across a strange building and accidentally get locked inside while taking a look. They try to find another way out while avoiding the Electric-type Pokémon that are guarding the plant.
Tropes
- A Day in the Limelight: Chikorita accompanies Ash into the Electric Company building since Pikachu and the others were resting. She also evolves into Bayleef near the end.
- No Name Given: The Security Chief is unnamed in both the Japanese and English versions.
- Psycho Electro: While it could simply be chalked up to them simply performing their jobs, the Pokémon working under the Electric Company seem to have no problems using hazardous amounts of electricity to repel intruders; Electabuzz and the Electrode being prime examples.
- Running Gag: Jigglypuff repeatedly having her microphone stolen then tossed away (by either Ash or Team Rocket) to prevent her from singing, leaving her go run and try to retrieve it. She finally gets Ash and friends in the final scene...with predictable results.
- Say My Name: Witnessing Ash being attacked repeatedly, Chikorita yells out Ash's Japanese name in Pokémon Speak before evolving into Bayleef.
- Took a Level in Badass: Ash's Chikorita evolves into Bayleef.
- Would Hurt a Child: Team Rocket mercilessly attack Ash with their Pokemon and send him crashing to the ground. After Arbok and Weezing attack him with the final double tackle, Ash is not even in a condition to be able to get up on his feet!
