When Ash and friends hear of a virtually undefeatable trainer operating nearby, they seek her out, only to see first Brock's Vulpix and then Ash's Cyndaquil take heavy abuse from her Skarmory — despite its disadvantage against the Fire element.
Tropes
- Actually, I Am Him: Brock tries to warn Miki of a powerful trainer in the mountains. He discovers the truth very quickly.
- Determinator: Why, Ash of course! After Team Rocket manages to get away with Cyndaquil, he keeps running after them till the evening until Skarmory appears to help.
- Made of Iron: Miki's Skarmory (Pun intended). Even after Cyndaquil has taken a level in badass, it gets nailed by three Flamethrowers and is still capable of battling.
- Scissors Cuts Rock: Miki intentionally seeks out trainers with Fire Pokémon so she can beat them with her Skarmory.
- Took a Level in Badass: Cyndaquil overcomes its problem with igniting its flame and manages to take out Miki's Skarmory.
- Training Montage: Ash trains with Cyndaquil to develop its flamethrower.
- Walk-In Chime-In: Wobbuffet pops out of his Poké Ball again while Team Rocket is scheming.
