Recycled Premise: This episode's premise is extremely similar to that of the first part of the scrapped "Team Rocket VS Team Plasma" two-parter. The following episode, however, is wildly different, as Giovanni is able to successfully attempt his big plan.
The Unfought: Giovanni finally averts this by fighting and curb-stomping Ash and Pikachu with his Persian.
The Worf Effect: Twice. First Melotta is easily able to counter Krookodile's moves and then Pikachu is taken down in five seconds via Persian's Power Gem.
