Recap / Pokemon Nova And Antica Ch 13

Go To

“If you ask me the Tenla Government should’ve had that whole route razed to the ground. Their ‘foolproof’ measure nearly endangered Ash and his friends! And they aren’t the first! Goodness, they’ve been messing up the past few years.”
Renee

The ordeal at the Abandoned Route has passed, but the knowledge more people traversed it distresses Xavier and his assistants back in Zumi Town. The adventure continues as Ash reaches Fimbulvetr Town at last and has finally caught up with Gary. After some catching up and some introductions, Gary confides his loss to Heather to get Ash prepared for his upcoming battle.

The chapter contains the following examples:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Winter's is "Winny".
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: A respected Gym Leader who defeated Gary with a little Cherry Tapping and the person Winter is raring to beat as part of her career. That said, she's got an extremely laid-back and quirky personality.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Heather, full stop. Whereas Marina was a humorous and playful variant, Heather is full-on sarcastic.
Heather: (to Brock after his Running Gag) Goodness, man, my students spit better lines than that.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Winter is described as having eyes "bereft of their natural sheen" as a result of the trauma she went through in the previous chapter. Dawn talks her out of it.
  • Friendship Moment: Dawn and Winter share something of one with the former comforting the latter out of her slump.
  • Large Ham: Heather again. This woman absolutely loves to chew the scenery. Her brand of style and humor also offsets the tension brought forth by the previous chapter.
  • To Be a Master: Winter's desire is to be Tenla Region Champion.
  • The Worf Effect: A flashback is used to show how Heather beat Gary to validate her credentials as a Gym Leader. Let it be known Heather won using only two of her Pokemon in a 3-v-3 battle and only using three of her signature's moves.
