Phineas: Okay. Give it a chance. We want your honest opinion.
Ferb: We know it's a little weird.

Phineas and Ferb present a series of TV show and commercial parodies.

Tropes

  • Alien Among Us: "That's The Norm!" imagines Norm the Robot Man as an alien who crash-lands on Earth and befriends Suzy Johnson, who keeps his existance a secret from the rest of her family.
  • Bait-and-Switch: During "The Klimpaloon and Inexplicable Floating Baby Head Variety Hour", two comedians look like they're setting up a reference to the Who's on First? routine... and then they don't.
  • Bait-and-Switch Silhouette: In the third segment of "That's The Norm!", Suzy claims to be running a lemonade stand, and is sitting at a "lumpy table" that is obviously Norm with a tablecloth draped over him. However, once Jeremy leaves, Norm walks into frame, revealing that it really was just a lumpy table.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: At the end of That's the Norm!, Suzy uses Jeremy's "Holy guacamole..." catchphrase, as does Phineas after he says "There you are, Perry".
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: During The Stinger, Doofenshmirtz gets thrown out of the studio by a voice actor for trying to get into the episode, basically because there was no Perry subplot at all for him to appear in.
  • Brick Joke: The ending of "Dr. Ninja Baljeet" has Dr. Ninja Baljeet and the heroine sharing some Carbonated Goulash.
  • Character Catchphrase: In the "That's the Norm!" segments, Jeremy seems to always end the scene by telling Suzy "Holy guacamole, you sure are a handful!"
  • Chorus Girls: The dance troupe on The Klimpaloon and Giant Floating Baby Head Hour are referred to as "Six of the Eight Original Klimpaloon and Baby Head Dancers".
  • Continuity Nod:
    • One of the contestants on "Dancing With the Bears" is Bob Webber from "The Lake Nose Monster" and "Candace's Big Day".
    • The cartoon kids from the commercial in "Skiddley-Whiffers!" show up in an ad for Meap Carbonated Goulash.
    • The chef that appears in Buford's segment, Antoine Gilbaud, is Linda and Charlene's cooking teacher in "I Scream, You Scream" and "It's A Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud World!".
  • Demoted to Extra: Phineas and Ferb only appear at the beginning and end. Candace (who is revealed to be the one flipping through the channels), Linda, and Perry also only appear at the end, and Doof is only The Voice during The Stinger.
  • Epic Fail: Dave and Jim are not only terrible comedians, they don't fair well with the jugglers, as revealed by a brief channel switch to find one of them injured by a juggling pin.
  • Fake Interactivity: Parodied; Ducky Momo seems completely oblivious to the kids shouting advice at him, to the point one of the kids wonders how he's survived this long.
  • Film at 11: "Huge meteor to impact the Earth at nine o'clock tonight. Also, who's this little fella, and why is he in a bookcase? We'll have this story at ten."
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: Instead of the normal "Phineas and Ferb do something cool/Agent P fights Doof" plotline, this episode is 11 minutes of parodies of popular TV genres and commercials.
  • Hairball Humor: Somehow, KATT Kar hacks out a hairball, and Roger just wants to pretend he didn't see that.
  • Long-Runner Tech Marches On: Each time the channel changes, it is indicated by white TV static. But most TVs these days don't do that.
  • Overly Long Gag: Dr. Ninja Baljeet showing off his ninja moves in the beginning.
  • Semper Fi: A Fireside Girls recruitment ad is done in the style of those made for the Marines. Their motto? "The Few. The Relentless. The Fireside Girls."
    Isabella: We also have sleepovers!
  • Shout-Out:
  • The Stinger: During the credits, a voice actor is recording the disclaimer at the end of the commercial for Meap Carbonated Goulash when Doofenshmirtz interrupts and asks "Is this Studio A?". The voice actor yells at him for trying to get into the episode and throws him out of the studio. Neither Doofenshmirtz nor the voice actor appear on screen.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: In a brief channel change back to "Dr. Ninja Baljeet", Dr. Ninja Baljeet tells his latest partner, "There is nothing to worry about out here", before a yacht behind him explodes.
  • They Call Me Mr Tibbs: "Doctor Ninja Baljeet". He did not go through six years of ninja school just to be called "Doctor Baljeet".
  • Who's on First?: Dave and Jim and the Tri-State Whimsy Jugglers attempt to do a routine based on this.
Dave: You know, the guys on these sports teams have some pretty funny names these days.
Jim: Yeah, like those hockey players.
Dave: No, no, those are just Canadian names.
    (Beat)
Jim: And how 'bout these jugglers, folks?
