When an old friend of Enid's comes to town, she gets the opportunity to right an ancient wrong.


Tropes:

  • Agony Beam: Elodie's first magical arrow that pierces Enid in the back.
  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: A tiny purple sauropod can be seen scampering about in Gar's backstock bodega when Rad is thrown across the hall by a brooding Enid.
  • Ambiguously Gay: Enid instantaneously flusters and blushes when encountering Elodie in the woods during one of her solo training sessions. Her charm necklace memento to Elodie can be interpreted as a deeper sign of affection.
  • Ambition Is Evil: After discovering the open application to P.O.I.N.T Prep Academy alongside Enid, Elodie remarks that she's always wanted to be a super star. Elodie's personal ambition trumps her morality, betraying Enid at the P.O.I.N.T. Prep Academy finals for a life of blind adoration and popularity.
  • Anti-Villain: To accomplish her entry into P.O.I.N.T Prep Academy, Elodie's means and ends took her to defeating Enid while turned on her back, a heroic moral code that is often looked down upon, which could have easily displaced Elodie from the competition.
  • Berserk Button: Enid building up frustration as she passes the Lakewood Plaza citizens mention her about how great Elodie is. She nearly obliterated K.O.'s face from imagining the whole plaza as Elodie, luckily she snapped out of it just in time before the impact.
  • Bittersweet Ending: While Enid is finally able to confront her feelings toward Elodie and thanks to KO realize that at least some part of Elodie was her friend, the two are still estranged. On the car ride home Elodie stares out the window with tears in her eyes holding her "Best Friends" pendant she got from Enid.
  • Break Them by Talking:
    • Elodie breaks Enid trust in others when she does a Face–Heel Turn on Enid.
    • Subverted; As Elodie dangles her friendship status as a shield to prevent Enid from landing the final strike on her "best friend", she steadily responds back with a direct heel flip kick to Elodie's face.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Elodie's trademark colours as seen throughout the episode. She restrains her fashionable clothing to neon pink and pearly white.
  • Camaraderie: K.O.'s conviction to resolve Enid from her personal past problems. His persistence opens Enid into detailing her private backstory with Elodie. He steers Enid's mindset into realizing Elodie was her real friend, even if Elodie hightailed herself into stardom at the cost of leaving Enid behind.
  • Cheshire Cat Grin: Elodie's menacing response to K.O.'s innocent request into Enid's withdrawal after re-encountering Elodie at the Lakewood Plaza.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: When Enid tries to ignore Elodie, she starts seeing and hearing everyone with Elodie's face and voice.
  • Continuity Nod: In Enid's flashback to when she had recently begun her ninja training, she's wearing the same oversized jacket as her memories of herself in "Face Your Fears".
  • Crowd Chant: Lakewood Plaza citizens on the tarmac shouting out Elodie's name as she makes her entrance.
  • Did You Actually Believe...?: "We were never friends... Enid. I just pretended so I can learn your moves and counter them."
  • Doppelgänger Spin: Enid uses this attack on Elodie.
  • False Friend: After Elodie beats Enid in the tournament, Elodie claims to have just pretended to be friends to learn Enid's fighting technique and how to counter her for a contest. But K.O. points out she didn't know about the contest until after she met Enid. And while it's possible Elodie initially was just trying to learn how to fight from Enid (just not for that specific contest), Elodie kept the "Best Friends" pendant Enid gave her, showing she did and still does consider Enid her friend.
  • Fighting Your Friend: Enid and Elodie had competed alongside each other up until the final round. They had to face each other for the winning title for the P.O.I.N.T. Prep Academy contest.
  • Foreshadowing: When they read the P.O.I.N.T. Prep Academy notice, Enid says she always wanted to be a hero, while Elodie says she always wanted to be a superstar, foreshadowing that she considers being popular more important.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • Enid and Elodie share a moment, in what could be seen as Elodie's room, reading yaoi manga books when they were still friends.
    • Elodie takes the half of the Friendship Trinket that displays "Best".
  • Friendless Background: From what is said during the flashback, both Elodie and Enid describe themselves and not sustaining a best friend. It is uncertain whether they had any close friends prior to meeting as they spent prioritizing much of their time together, with no other friends in sight.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: Elodie only cares about being popular, which she's gotten upon winning the contest. But she cared (or still cares?) about her friendship with Enid.
  • Friendship Trinket: The "Best Friends" pendant Enid gives Elodie.
  • Funny Background Event: The group-shot photo of K.O., Rad and Elodie captures Enid's reaction of displeasure in the background with her disguise somehow being displaced off her by the flash from the photograph.

  • It's All About Me: Elodie fully envelopes this persona after winning the P.O.I.N.T. Prep Academy contest.
  • It's Personal: Elodie's open invitation to battle any of the Lakewood Plaza citizens turns up a chance for Enid to challenge Elodie at her own game. The battle is fueled by the tension from their broken childhood friendship.
  • I've Come Too Far: Elodie's realization while riding back home in her tank limo. She shows remorse over her torn friendship with Enid. She's holding her half of the pendant while she's pensive in thought.
  • Kick Chick: Enid's finishing move on Elodie. A slow-mo landscape shot with the two shadowed in a silhouette allows for an appreciation shot of Enid's skill as Elodie goes sky-high from the impact and hits the pavement.
  • Lack of Empathy: After Elodie's cold confession left Enid in disbelief, she has no qualm in leaving Enid for a stake in her newfound celebrity disposition.
  • Manipulative Bastard: To a smaller extent, Elodie toying with Enid's emotions by unveiling her "true" intentions of becoming her close friend was to attain knowledge of Enid's techniques and counter her movesets. However, K.O. discloses to Enid that this may very well not be entirely true, as Elodie discovered the academy's exam contest alongside Enid.
  • Meaningful Name: Elodie's name is derived from the phrase "foreign riches". The Elodie Lily displays a vibrant pink flush.
  • Meet Cute: Platonic relationship; Elodie and Enid's chance encounter in the woods, as seen in the flashback. Upon Elodie's entrance, Enid is startled by Elodie's praise of her moves. Enid becomes abashed when exclaiming Elodie's name before Elodie could introduce herself fully. When commending Enid's techniques are above any of their peers, she flushes red but is left incredulous at what she hears. The pair become inseparable after Enid proposes that they should practice their martial arts training together.
  • Modesty Shorts: Elodie avoids a Panty Shot from her skirt by sporting some with her current outfit.
  • Must Make Amends: It may seem at first glance to Enid that Elodie came to Lakewood Plaza with the full on intention of rubbing their previous bond back at her face, but Geoffrey's ending commentary brings an insight into what Elodie's main objective was; to regain her close bond with Enid.
  • Narcissist: Elodie exclaims twice throughout the episode that she just loves being popular. She dons a pair of "#1" hair clips, complimented with a pair of number one inscribed trophy earrings to match her hand sized trophy and her goblet ton sized trophy from winning the competition.
  • Nerves of Steel: Enid's stance when being confronted by Elodie's arrow face on, fooling Elodie into striking Enid's doppelgänger.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: Elodie taking advantage of Enid detaining herself from attacking her only best friend for a competition.
  • Platonic Declaration of Love: In the flashback, Enid gifts Elodie with a "Best Friends" charm necklace to display her affection for Elodie. The two embrace as they both acknowledge the other as their first best friend.
  • Playing with Fire: Enid's flame shot kicks as shown in her training in the woods and throughout the P.O.I.N.T. Prep Academy contest. Subverted, as Enid restrains herself from utilizing any of her fireball kick techniques against Elodie at the Lakewood Plaza Turbo parking lot.
  • Psychotic Smirk: Elodie certainly takes pleasure in resurfacing an old feud by directing K.O. to talk to Enid with a menacing smirk. It goes over K.O.'s head that she intends to inflict pain on Enid to remember their "good ol' times" in middle school.
  • Rain of Arrows: While only wielding one magical bow, Elodie is shown capable of delivering a myriad of blows that overtake Enid with its sheer amount in strength and velocity.
  • Rewatch Bonus: Elodie's half of her pendant is revealed from beneath her neckline clothing when knocked-out by Enid but she quickly conceals it from sight when regaining consciousness.
  • Simple, yet Opulent: Elodie's choice in clothing maintain their in being simplistic and appearing somewhat regal in its design.
  • Smug Snake: Elodie's treatment towards K.O. and the mistreatment over Enid's value and placement of their previous friendship.

    • Enid returns the favor in defeating Elodie at her own challenge, leaving little room for an opening by maintaining her resolve and composure in battle.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Enid's the Tomboy to Elodie's Girly Girl in the flashback. Enid wears dark coloured masculine over-sized ninja clothing, while Elodie wears bright feminine sized-fitting clothing. Enid take s head on approach by utilizing a portion of physical strength in her techniques, while Elodie adds a flair of grace by effortlessly executing her attacks.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Elodie's decision to enact the first strike against Enid during their P.O.I.N.T. Prep Academy stand-off. She openly accepts her adoration from her influx of new adoring fans over Enid's friendship.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: To a certain extent, Elodie displayed a virtue in maintaining a close bond with Enid before their fallout. Her interest in Enid started off with Elodie's perceptive eye in recognizing Enid's talents and skills.

  • We Used to Be Friends: Enid and Elodie's sudden rupture in their friendship, as shown in the flashback Enid recounted to K.O.
