A deal is made with a robber who along with his partner, robbed a store, killed an off-duty cop, and kidnapped an innocent cab driver, so that he reveals where the hostage. However, the cab driver and the partner turn up dead.


  • Bittersweet Ending: McCoy manages to ensure the conviction of a triple murderer (who had killed a cop, a hostage and his partner in a robbery); however, his relationship with Detective Curtis is strained in the process.
  • Deal with the Devil: Double Subverted. McCoy initially makes one, gets the legal clearance to go back on it, and then uses the deal to convict the devil in question of a different murder.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: Marvin, the store clerk, took advantage of a true robbery, and stole money from the back which he then claimed was taken as part of the robbery.
  • Stealing from the Till: Marvin stole $600 for himself from the box in the back at the store where he worked.
