Tropes found in Ghost Bride:

  • Cassandra Truth: After laughing to herself about scaring the boys, Helga sees the "real" Ghost Bride and goes to warn them. Unfortunately they're too angry with her to listen until they see it for themselves.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Arnold comments that the gang can't stay in the crypt they're hiding in forever.
Harold: Sure we can. [points to the coffins] These guys did.
    Arnold: But, they're dead.
    Sid: What's your point?
  • Creepy Cemetery: The gang spends the episode in one, complete with Ominous Fog.
  • Death by Woman Scorned: In the backstory for the Ghost Bride, her fiancĂ© left her at the altar and ended up falling in love with the bride's sister—and to really add insult to injury, they got married the day after the groom was originally supposed to marry the ghost bride. Furious, she put on her wedding dress and took an axe down to the couple's home where she hacked them to pieces then committed suicide when the police showed up.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Curly decides to dress up as the Ghost Bride and scare the snot out of the gang all because he didn't get to tell the tale of the Ghost Bride.
  • Grave Humor: See Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion below.
  • Honor Before Reason: Arnold points out to Harold that he doesn't have to go with them to the graveyard if he's scared. Harold responds that he does so that no one will be able to call him chicken.
  • Hypocrite: Harold claiming Helga can't join the group in looking for the Ghost Bride because "girls get scared too easy". Given that Harold's the one who spends the whole episode whimpering and crying out of fear, he doesn't have room to talk.
  • Murder-Suicide: The Ghost Bride murders her sister and ex-lover before leaping to her death.
  • Real After All: Implied at the end when Curly, who's been locked in a crypt as punishment for scaring the gang, hears someone humming "Here Comes the Bride", then he's heard screaming.
  • "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: Both times the Ghost Bride appears turn out to be Helga and Curly just wanting to scare the gang out of revenge.
  • Scream Discretion Shot: When Curly is left inside the crypt, he hears someone humming "Here Comes the Bride" and asks if that's Helga doing it. The scene then cuts to the outside of the crypt as Curly is heard screaming.
  • Shadow Discretion Shot: All that's shown of the Ghost Bride murdering her sister and ex-fiancĂ© is her shadow swinging the axe.
  • Slain in Their Sleep: The Ghost Bride's sister and her husband were sleeping peacefully in bed when the Ghost Bride came to their house. They never saw the terrible event coming.
  • Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion:
Arnold: [reading the Ghost Bride's tombstone] Here lies Cynthia Snell, she lived her life and went straight to -. I can't read the rest.
  • Wight in a Wedding Dress: The Ghost Bride, no less.
