** The "[[AmbiguousSyntax My Son]], [[MathematiciansAnswer The Planet]], [[BerserkButton or Me]]" gag returns, this time with Paragus taking the random messenger's place.

* BusCrash: Dr. Wheelo, the subject of [[Recap/DragonBallZAbridgedM10 the last movie]], is mentioned that he died of brain cancer.

* DudeNotFunny: When South Kai is upset that his galaxy is gone and cannot be brought back, King Kai makes a crack that he will have plenty of candidates for the Otherworld Tournament coming up. South Kai is aghast at the joke.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: The soldiers subjigating the alien slaves leave when Krillin starts showing his moves. They can handle "kinky", but [[NotInMyContract not paid enough to deal with "crazy"]].

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: The Shamoshans don't mind being subjugated by Paragus' army. However, they suddenly realize they've made a terrible mistake when Broly decides to give them the "ultimate punishment" by destroying their homeworld. It has been implied that they had a forgotten SafeWord to put a stop to it but, whether or not it would work on him is rendered moot as their world is destroyed by the time they finally remembered it.

* TheCameo: Cell and Mercenary Tao show up for brief scenes.

* SinsOfOurFathers: Paragus acts with the goal of getting revenge on King Vegeta by killing Prince Vegeta.

* INeverSaidItWasPoison: Goku tells the others that he came to investigate the destruction of a galaxy, with Paragus asking who would want to destroy South Galaxy. That is the galaxy that was destroyed, but Goku didn't tell them ''which'' galaxy it was. While [[IdiotHero Goku]] doesn't catch on to Paragus's slip up, [[FunWithSubtitles the English (Canada) subtitles]] notice it.

* DisappointedByTheMotive: When he learns that Broly hates Goku because he cried a lot when they were both babies, Vegeta wastes no time in calling it "so dumb".

** The movie takes no time mocking how stupid Broly's hatred for Goku is with Vegeta having a HeroicBSOD over how someone so cool looking could have such a pathetic {{wangst}}y FreudianExcuse. For the record, the reason for said hatred is "Goku cried for three hours when they were babies." That's it. It is easily the single weakest excuse for being a villain in the ''entire'' franchise, and this includes the man who created an army to find the reality-altering power of the Dragonballs to make himself taller.

* DramaticIrony: Piccolo mentions opening the Dead Zone to bring back Garlic Jr. In DBZA, he has no idea that Garlic Jr. had already returned, but was assimilated by Mr. Popo, with none of the Z Warriors the wiser.

* PapaWolf: Piccolo to Gohan, taken UpToEleven. While the rest of the series and movies up until this point have had him serving as a ParentalSubstitute who was either weary about it ("Why can't you save your ''OWN DAMN SELF?!''" in the ''Lord Slug'' movie) or understated in showing affection (hiding how touched he was about the clothes beam in Episode 55), in ''Broly'', he pretty much graduates to DotingParent. Upon rescuing Gohan, he worriedly inquires as to whether or not he needs some juice and if he got into the school he wanted (expressing a BigNo when Gohan indicates that he probably didn't). And when Gohan asks how he got to the planet, Piccolo is extremely proud of the fact that he managed to arrive immediately after Gohan called his name.

* AbsenteeActor: Nail and Kami don't say anything in this special, compared with the other ones. Despite this, they do appear in the [[FunWithSubtitles "English (Canada)" gag subtitles]]; when Piccolo calls Vegeta out for being a crying baby, the subtitles claim that Nail and Kami reacted surprised.[[note]]Note that the voice actors who play Nail and Kami actually avert this; Nail's voice actor is [=hbi2k=], who still appears here as Dr. Briefs, while Kami's voice actor Remix plays the titular Broly.[[/note]]

* SequelHook: Averted - after Goku breaks it to Gohan that he might not be going to his college of choice, he tries to comfort his son by saying his movie might be next. This would have been the case...if it wasn't for TFS ultimately deciding to outright ''skip'' ''Bojack Unbound'' and the rest of the movies altogether.

* AssPull: When Piccolo arrives and asks Goku if there is a way to beat Broly, Goku lampshades this in response.
