Tropes

  • Do Not Adjust Your Set: K.Rool decides to do this so he can steal the Coconut on-air.
  • Human Cannonball: K. Rool's "Secret Weapon" to steal the Crystal Coconut is a barrel cannon which fires someone, in this case Klump, attached to bungee rope so they can grab the coconut and then be pulled back. K. Rool had in fact been successful stealing the coconut with it back in Booty and the Beast.
  • Irony: Candy has developed The Scrappy status among fans for her habit of getting angry at DK for things beyond his control. Here, she apologizes to DK for losing her temper at him, unaware that for once this (in this case, Cranky not showing up to career-making/breaking commercial appearance) actually was DK's fault. It was an accident, sure, but Cranky's unconscious state was because of DK and a few choice moments of carelessness on his part.
  • Never Recycle Your Schemes: Averted, while the episode implies it is its introduction, K. Rool had used the cannon barrel to steal the coconut in Booty and the Beast. It would also show up again in The Legend Of The Crystal Coconut.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: DK accidentally knocks the wind out of Cranky. He gets water to help, only for it to actually have been a sleeping tonic. In trying to hide the unconscious Cranky from Candy, Diddy accidentally puts him on an ejector trap that DK accidentally triggers, leading to a wild-goose chase around the island.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Cranky finally wakes up, he asks why he's in so much pain and says the last thing he remembers is DK handing him a bottle. Before Cranky can put it all together, Diddy and then DK start running.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Krusha spent the episode just watching TV.
  • Visual Pun: The sleeping tonic DK gives Cranky has a picture of a log with a saw through it on its label. "Sawing logs" is an expression for sleeping and especially snoring.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: Cranky does not like the lines Bluster feeds him for the commercial.
