A woman asks Dante to save her husband, who is addicted to gambling. There is a rumored legendary gambler nicknamed King, who supposedly kills anyone who loses to him or her. Devil May Cry receives an invitation to a poker game on board a luxury cruise ship from King, with a pocket watch attached. Dante wears the pocket watch as a necklace and attends the tournament, which the husband is also attending. Lady goes undercover as the dealer and Patty and Morrison watch. Despite being underage, they allow Patty to play in Dante's place while he takes a break.
Dante resumes his place, and the gamblers discuss the possibility that King may be among them. Once the game turns serious, whoever loses spontaneously drops dead. Lady, Morrison, and Patty are shocked because all of the gamblers, including Dante, don't seem to be concerned and only care about gambling and winning. Eventually, it goes down to Dante and the husband, and Dante wins, so the husband drops dead. Crazed, Dante says the game is not over, then challenges Lady to a game of "Whoever shoots the other first wins". Lady shoots him first and he falls.
Patty starts crying and asks why this happened, then the wife shows up, mockingly congratulating Lady. She is really a demon, and had given each of the gamblers a cursed item to make them murderously addicted to gambling. They were all King. She prepares to kill them all, but Dante suddenly rises. He explains that they figured out her scheme because earlier, Patty had tried on the pocket watch necklace and had gotten possessed until they took it off. Figuring springing the trap was the only way to draw her out, Dante put on the necklace and allowed himself to be possessed. Lady's bullet had destroyed the pocket watch and freed him. The bullet went straight through and hit his heart, but his Healing Factor took care of that. Dante battles the demon. She proves resilient against bullets, so Morrison passes Dante Rebellion and he skewers her.
As they go home, Patty is upset that they didn't tell her the plan. The four of them play poker, and Dante loses. Annoyed, he throws his cards into the air and walks off.
