Go To

No hot water!
Which means cold showers!
Next thing you know, your
Kids will be on crack!

Written by Aline Brosh McKenna and Rachel Bloom, directed by Steven Tsuchida. Original airdate 2/22/16.

"After the texting debacle, Rebecca attempts to recover by pursuing a case she thinks will bring her closer to Josh. Darryl tries to reconcile his feelings for White Josh, while Greg is obsessed with trying to uncover Rebecca's real motives for taking on the case."

Songs:

"Group Hang" (sung by Rachel Bloom, David Hull, Erick Lopez, Harvey Guillén, and Devere Rogers)

  • Affectionate Parody: Of Shakira's "Whatever, Whenever."
  • Bilingual Bonus: Parodied, since most of what the others sing is just generic Mexican food. and then the chorus is "Spanish, Spanish, Spanish, Spanish, espanol, arriba!"
  • Fanservice: Lampshaded, too. "It makes me so sexy sad."
  • Hypocritical Humor: Rebecca goes into a rant about how there must be some Hispanic people who are mad about the bastardization of their culture for the food... all while she is imagining herself as Shakira.
    • Moreover, two of the group, Hector and Bernard, are actually Hispanic, and don't seem bothered at all by the restaurant. Rebecca essentially ignores them in favor of imaginary people who fit her biases.
  • Improbable Food Budget: The check for the food and drink comes to over 900 dollars. A lot of this, however, is probably the alcoholic drinks, which tend to be more expensive, but still...
  • Spexico: Rebecca spends a lot of the song pondering what type of food it is, calling it "Cali-Mex-talian."
Rebecca: Does the chef know what Mexico is?

"Romantic Moments" (sung by Nina Zeitlin)

  • Fully Automatic Clip Show: The song is accompanied by clips of "romantic moments" that Rebecca thought were romantic, but Josh probably didn't.

"Cold Showers Lead to Crack" (sung by Rachel Bloom, Donna Lynn Champlin, and Pete Gardner)

  • Drugs Are Bad: Rebecca is using this in order to try and convince people to sue their landlord. "That shower felt great, maybe I'll try cocaine!" Surprisingly, it works.
  • Insane Troll Logic: "No hot water, which means cold showers! Next thing you know your kids will be on crack!" ("This makes sense!")note
  • Pastiche: Of "(Ya Got) Trouble" from The Music Man.
