When Sarah's old spy handler reappears, she goes off on her own to prevent a secret from her past from destroying her family.
This episode provides examples of:
- Acquired Situational Narcissism: Ellie and Awesome broke up once when he acted like a massive douchebag after modelling in an Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue.
- Badass and Baby: Sarah, in the flashbacks, is left in charge of the titular baby. She has to call her mother to learn how to care for her. Finally, she gives the baby to her mother to raise quietly.
- Continuity Nod: The final flashback includes Langston Graham sending Sarah on her next mission; handler to one Charles Bartowski.
- Gilligan Cut: Seeing Morgan's desperation to win Alex back, and her hesitation to trust him again, Ellie and Awesome decide to intervene, telling them about an incident when they broke up briefly. They have... different ideas of how they got back together.Ellie: [To Morgan] I don't think he knows this, but I came home from work one day and he was sitting on my doorstep with a bunch of calla lilies, and he must have been there for hours, because he was on the phone with his mom and he was so sweet with her. He really cared about what she was saying. I just remembered that that was the man I fell in love with.
Awesome: [To Alex] Calla lilies - works every time. - Leeroy Jenkins: Sarah repeatedly ditches the team to go off on a mission to kill Ryker by herself, leading to her being captured. Ryker gloats that he was counting on this behaviour.Ryker: You know why I requested to be your handler? Why I brought you to Budapest in the first place? Because your file screamed loner. You had no family to speak of, never trusted anyone. I knew that you could keep a secret because you had no one to tell. And you still don't, do you?
- Living Macguffin: The baby is the sole heir to a fortune in Hungary that her parents were killed for. Sarah's former handler Ryker wanted to take that fortune for himself, meaning the baby is in his way. After failing to stop him, Sarah left the baby with her mother to be raised in safety.
- Oh, Crap!: After rescuing Sarah from Ryker, Chuck finally gets her to tell him everything, including what she did with the baby. Then he finds a bug in her hair, meaning that Ryker heard everything.
- Remember That You Trust Me: Chuck calls Sarah out for putting herself in danger by running off on a dangerous mission without her team, endangering herself rather than trusting her own husband. She admits he's right.Chuck: You know that I'm not the kind of guy who says things like this, but... whatever it is that you thought you needed to hide... not telling me the truth, going out on you own like that, I think it was a mistake. I think that you were wrong.
Sarah: You're right. - You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Ellie tells Morgan to stop trying so hard to win Alex back, because he's a catch and if he eases up and acts normally then his behaviour will remind her of that. Sure enough, watching him playing with five-year-old Molly wins Alex over.
