Piper discusses her apprehension about the Avatars with Leo as Kyle sneaks into the manor. He attempts to throw the Avatar vanquishing potion at Leo but other Avatars intervene to prevent the bottle breaking.

Paige suggests Kyle travel back in time to see what really happened to his parents. Kyle is unsure, especially when he finds out it will be Leo sending him back but Paige convinces him to go. Leo opens a portal which Kyle and Paige step through. They find themselves outside Columbia University in New York on December 28th 1981; the place where Kyle's parents worked. Kyle believes that Leo set up his parent's death and leaves to find the warehouse where they died. He flags down a taxi and meets his mother, Ruth and his younger past self.

Meanwhile in present day, Phoebe suggests that she swaps powers with Piper so that Piper can see the vision of the utopia created by the Avatars. During the process, Zankou attacks and the sisters' powers go out of control and transfer to a pair of unsuspecting mortals, Denise and Ronny. Leo manages to get rid of Zankou for now whilst the girls discover who has Piper's powers when explosions occur in next door's house.

Zankou realises that Leo must be an Avatar due to the sheer force of Leo's attack on him. He decides to out him to the Elders.

In 1981, Kyle gets to meet his father, Jack after his mother passes out. Jack thanks him for helping his mother before receiving a call from customs, saying the Cairo shipment he's been waiting for has gone missing. He is told the artefacts within the shipment will be destroyed unless they can get there and identify them without a manifesto.

In present day, Phoebe and Piper find Ronny who has acquired Phoebe's powers. He's received a vision of his wife having affairs and she's angry about his accusations. Phoebe manages to convince him to come to the manor with her where they meet with Piper, who's also met with Denise (the neighbour with her powers). Up in the attic, the sisters plan a spell to transfer their powers back to them however Denise and Ronny change their minds. Denise freezes them and they run.

Back in 1981, young Kyle finds Paige and present day Kyle hiding amongst the shipments. He believes that they are imaginary friends who have come to help him. Kyle says to Paige that he doesn't want to lose his parents again but Paige reminds him that what happened to him has made him who he is now and changing the past would have huge repurcussions.

Leo orbs into the manor and find Phoebe and Piper frozen. He unfreezes them and they explain what happened to their powers. However, Leo is summoned by the Elders.

Phoebe is able to find out where Denise and Ronny have gone by scrying for them. Piper and Phoebe take off to Lake Tahoe. Ronny is using the premonition power to win at casino games. Phoebe shows them the vision of the Avatar future and the two neighbours agree to return the powers.

Leo is summoned in front of the Elders where he admits to being an Avatar. He explains that the Avatars didn't try to to threaten them however the Elders try to kill him anyway. When each one can't hurt him, they orb away.

Back at the manor, Phoebe, Piper and the two neighbours arrive in the attic to transfer powers when Zankou attacks. Denise blasts Zankou into a wall. When he's back up, he senses that Leo is still alive and states they're all in trouble before leaving.

In the past, Kyle and Paige are hiding in the warehouse, waiting for his parents to arrive. They have found a box containing several Avatar vanquishing potions. The demons appear and attack Kyle's parents upon their arrival. Several of the clay potion bottles break during the fight. Kyle and Paige realise the demons were after the potions as they feared the Avatars. Young Kyle finds his parents and spots a bottle of potion in his dad's hand. Kyle consoles him before he leaves with Paige.

Piper and Phoebe have gotten their powers back and are cleaning up the house. After discussing what Ronnie had seen in the vision, Piper decides that they should give the future with the Avatars a go.

Despite knowing that the Avatars weren't responsible for his parents' death, Kyle has kept one of the vanquishing potions from the past.

Tropes

  • Batman Gambit: Because Leo foiled his attempt to kill a powerless Piper and Phoebe, Zankou tells the Elders the truth about him in order to get him out of the way. It fails, though, because Leo is now too powerful for even a combined Elder assault.
  • Brick Joke: Paige Squees at a poster for Raiders of the Lost Ark when they first arrive in 1981. Later she covers up in front of Kyle's parents by saying they're going to see it in the cinema.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Piper and Phoebe, due to Zankou interrupting the power switching spell.
  • Call-Back: Once again, Paige tells Kyle that Leo is an Avatar, and he does something impulsive with the vanquishing potion; just as he did two episodes prior before time was rewound.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Paige references "A Paige From the Past", where she went back in time to see her parents' deaths. They don't use Clyde to go back however, and the spell is different; Kyle doesn't assume the body of his past self and Paige is able to be seen and interact with others in the past.
    • Phoebe and Piper perform the power switching spell from "Love Hurts". It of course goes wrong again.
  • Defenestrate and Berate: When Phoebe finds Ronnie, he was on the street pleading with his wife Alison not to throw his stuff out the window and screaming at him (which she was doing)... for him having discovered she was cheating on him (by supposedly spying on her, although as Phoebe later explains, that was her Premonition powers at work).
  • Divorce Assets Conflict: Denise, the woman who temporarily gains Piper's powers of Molecular Immobilization and Molecular Combustion, had an ugly one where her husband left her and her two children for another woman and took everything, leaving her with nothing.
  • Foreshadowing: Kyle found that one of the anti-Avatar potions wasn't destroyed and secretly stashed it.
  • Hand Wave: Denise mentions frequently hearing lots of yelling and loud noises coming from the Manor, referencing the numerous demon battles throughout the series. She just assumed they were throwing lots of wild parties.
  • Hate Sink: Both Ronnie and Denise's exes, though only Ronnie's is shown on screen. Alison has cheated on him multiple times, and is seen publicly throwing his things out onto the street when she gets busted. Denise's ex likewise left her for his secretary and drained her savings to run away, leaving her to pay their mortgage.
  • Henpecked Husband: Why else would Alison act like the jilted spouse when she was the cheating one? Especially in such a humiliating manner.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Phoebe wonders who keeps coming up with the demons' names, and Piper lampshades that she's only now asking after seven years.
  • Never My Fault: Ronnie discovers his wife Alison has been cheating him over and over again? It's his fault for having spied on her (even though he did no such thing and was using Phoebe's premonition powers he obtained by accident). It comes to a point she is the one kicking him out of their house (with a profound desire for him to be out of her life) and throwing his stuff out of the window while screaming at him (showing her utmost disgust for him) while he is (before coming to his senses) the one being apologetic.
  • Oh, Crap!: "Leo's still alive. Looks like the Avatars are more powerful than I thought, which means we're all in trouble."
  • Pair the Spares: Ronnie and Denise.
  • Paranormal Gambling Advantage: Ronnie travels with Denise to Lake Tahoe and uses his premonition power to win casino games.
  • Really Gets Around: Through the premonition powers he receives from Phoebe, Ronnie discovers his wife Alison has been having several affairs, including one with one of his friends (named Phil) and another with his bowling partner.
  • The Reveal: Kyle's parents weren't killed by the Avatars; they were killed by Celerity Demons that were looking for anti-Avatar potions.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Upon seeing his adult self, Kyle's mother faints because of his resemblance to her father as a young man.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Alison was way out of Ronnie's league. Thus the affairs.
  • The Unfair Sex: Lampshaded. When Alison is throwing a fit and berating Ronnie after he found out about her affairs, he asks why she's yelling at him when he is by any reasonable standard the wounded party.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never know what happened to Ronnie and Alison, or to Ronnie and Denise (and their casino fortune), after the latter were given Memory Dust.
  • Woman Scorned: Averted. Denise wants to keep her new powers for revenge on her ex-husband, but in the end the Sisters convince her to give them back.
