The serial killer Jerry Tyson, known as 3XK, is back and Castle and Beckett find themselves face-to-face with him at the precinct. Can they put him away for good?
- The Bad Guy Wins: Tyson and Neeman successfully convince the world he's Boudreaux and kidnap Beckett.
- Foreshadowing: A young woman shows up with ligature marks, and she has a past, but now she gets a mysterious new job which pays her lots and lots of money... all hallmarks of 3XK's past cases.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: With cigarettes rather than alcohol. Susan's ex-roommate says, "I quit smoking seven months ago but I really need a cigarette."
- Wham Episode: 3XK is back and he's kidnapped Beckett, giving us the first episode to have an immediate sequel with a "To Be Continued" card.
