Tropes

  • Body in a Breadbox: The Victim of the Week's body is found on a glass recycling plant, making the whole lab smell like beer.
  • Femme Fatale: Marquise Isabella seduced men to use as accomplices in her thefts.
  • Frame-Up: The Marquise's accomplice / lover plants the jeweled dagger she attacked him with on the Marquis's bed in order to frame him as the one who murdered her.
  • Glasses Are Sexy: Brennan turns out to be very fond of Booth's look while wearing glasses.
Brennan: They were sexy, Booth. I mean, you know, I was kind of hoping you'd wear them to bed.
    Booth: To bed? Why?
Brennan: Well, I was hoping you'd wear them and nothing else.
Booth: Wow. Really? Okay. I think I can accommodate that.
  • Impoverished Patrician: The Marquis's family fortune is actually gone, but he's too proud to abandon his luxurious lifestyle, so he turned to Blake Masters, an art broker, to sell his family antiques. His wife also became a jewel thief in order to provide for them.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Blake Masters, the Marquiss attractive 'art intern'. When Aubrey goes to question Blake he finds her swimming at a pool in tiny bikini and she exits the pool in a gratuitous Sexy Surfacing Shot with plenty of Male Gaze.
  • Phantom Thief: Audrey romanticizes the jewel thief behind the diamond's theft and is excited to be after an elusive "master jewel thief".
  • Poltergeist: When things start randomly being knock over around Hodgins, Daisy is convinced he's being haunted by a Poltergeist. It just turns out to be involuntary muscle spasms on his leg.
  • Shout-Out: Several to the The Pink Panther movies, including the fact that the French investigator's name is Rousseau, something constantly lampshaded by Hodgins; Rousseau himself freely admits that he's had to learn to laugh about his name when in these situations.
  • Unwanted Glasses Plot: Booth has to start wearing glasses due having a temporary eye condition for the duration of the episode, much to his annoyance.
