Recap: Batman: The Animated Series E33 "Robin's Reckoning: Part 2"
aka: Batman The Animated Series Robins Reckoning Part II

Tropes:

  • Beware the Nice Ones: This episode showed that Robin can be just as brutal and frighting as Bruce when properly provoked.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday:
Zucco: Don't tell me what I gotta worry about. I'm not back in town five minutes— five minutes— and he's on my tail. You don't know the bat. He don't let up! He's the dark angel of death, man, and he wants me!
Mook: Why does he want you, boss?
    Zucco: How should I know?!
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: Biff, didn't you learn your lesson about messing with hero teenagers?
  • Not So Stoic: Batman purposely forces Robin out of an investigation that leads to Tony Zucco, the man who engineered the death of Robin's parents, and stonewalls him when he tries to interfere. At the end of the 2nd episode, Robin tells Batman that he understands now why Batman kept him out: because he knew Robin would make matters personal and try to kill Zucco. Batman replies, with palpable sorrow in his voice that his reason was completely different: that Zucco had already taken so much away from Robin, and he was afraid that he would take Robin's life as well.
  • Properly Paranoid: Zucco hears a noise on the ceiling of his hideout apartment and opens fire with a tommy gun despite his goons warning him of the collateral damage and noting they always hear rats scurrying above. Sure enough, the ceiling gives way and Batman falls on a table, spraining his leg.
  • Shout-Out: To AKIRA when Dick strikes a similar pose to Kaneda on his bike.
  • We Have Reserves: Tony Zucco shoots at Batman with a Tommy gun, even though multiple mooks are likely to be hit as well and beg him not to.
  • Worf Had the Flu: The final act takes place in an abandoned amusement park versus an extremely paranoid gang. Batman should have had little trouble taking them out, but he sprained his leg right before they fled into the park. Zucco also has the insight to turn on the lights to make it harder for Batman to hide.
