Having giving themselves some leeway thanks to Eren's partial Titan transformation the Shiganshina trio desperately try to figure out what their next move is. Eren and Mikasa decide to leave their fates in Armin's hands. Desperate to keep his friend save Armin attempts to negotiate with the Garrison force and convince them that Eren is no threat to humanity.
Tropes:
- Big Damn Heroes: Just when Wörman is about to fire upon the Shiganshina trio once again who should arrive but Dot Pixis who sits down with them and talks about Eren's willingness to utilise his Titan form for humanity.
- Deadly Nosebleed: Eren begins bleeding from his nose soon after ejecting from his Titan body seemingly from the stress done to his real body.
- Heroic RRoD: After using his Titan form again Eren starts breathing heavily as well as bleeding from the nose.
- Indy Ploy: Armin freely admits that he is making up the evidence to convince the Garrison not to kill Eren as he goes along and even his plan, to use the boulder launched through Wall Rose to seal up the hole, is something he came up with on the fly. Nevertheless Pixis considers Armin's desperation to life to be proof enough that he is trustworthy and that his plan is a sound one.
- The Power of Trust: Eren's second plan is to trust that Armin can convince the Garrison troops that he is not a threat to humanity and can be useful in sealing up Wall Rose. Mikasa agrees with the plan and the two trust Armin to save their lives. After seeing how much his friends believe in him Armin pushes through his fear and stalls long enough for Dot Pixis to arrive and listen to what he has to say.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: In comparison to the cowardly Kitz Wörman, Dot Pixis arrives and not only listens to what Eren and co has to say but even decides that their desperation to save their own lives proves their trustworthiness.
- Rousing Speech: Armin makes one in order to pacify the members of the Garrison, pointing out Eren's potential in using his Titan form against other Titans. When that seemingly fails he tells the soldiers that it would be an honour to die for humanity and that, until his death, he will continue advocating for Eren's survival. This speech helps save their lives when Pixis arrives.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Eren gives one to his Disappeared Dad pointing out all of the lives that could have been saved if his father hadn't kept whatever was in the basement a secret.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Both Eren and Mikasa put their fate in Armin's hands due to his sharp mind and ability to keep cool under pressure. When Armin asks how they can trust him they point out that, by telling Hannes about where they were going five years ago, he saved both of their lives.
