Lucille hires a detective who locates George Sr. in Mexico. Michael goes to collect his father, accompanied by George Michael and his girlfriend Ann. Gob hires a bounty hunter named Ice to keep tabs on Michael (and to be his friend).
The Arrested Development episode "¡Amigos!" provides examples of:
- Bad Liar: Gob claims he has friends. He isn't fooling Michael. Or Lindsay.
- Bilingual Bonus: Lucille's housekeeper Lupe finds Buster (who thought he had fled to Mexico) under her trampoline. After a short exchange she says something in Spanish which the subtitles say is "So now I must take care of Buster," in fact, her words roughly translate to "Great, now I have to take care of the retard."
- Double Entendre: When Michael defines the word circumvent, Gob says "The old reach-around".
- Dude, Not Funny!: Tobias' comment to Michael, defending his and Lindsay's open marriage:Tobias: ...and secondofly, I know you're the big marriage expert— Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot, your wife is dead! [long pause] ...I'm sorry. That was 100% inappropriate, and I do apologize profusely... I'm... Ohhh...
- Gilligan Cut: After Michael says, "It's like I'm being forgotten here", the camera cuts to Ann, who has been left behind in Mexico by everyone else in the family.
- One Dialogue, Two Conversations: When Maeby talks to Michael in the stair car, Maeby is talking about her mother, but Michael thinks she is talking about Ann. This is Lampshaded by the narrator.
- Running Gag: Gene Parmesan's Paper-Thin Disguises, which inevitably fool Lucille, eliciting a shriek of delight from her. Also, Gob constantly mispronouncing the word "circumvent".
- Tactful Translation: The subtitles of Lupe's line say "Great. Now I must take care of Buster". She's actually saying something significantly more insulting: "Now I must take care of the retard".
