Archer and Pam encounter danger in their search for the idol, while Fuchs and his men search behind them.
- Misplaced Wildlife: Howler monkeys are not native to the Pacific, a fact Lampshaded by Fuchs.
- Mooks: It quickly becomes clear that the German soldiers are this. None of them are very bright and Fuchs finally ends up shooting one of them in the head out of sheer frustration after one too many stupid questions.
- Quicksand Sucks: As Archer and Pam discover for most of the episode.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Shortly before getting stuck in quicksand, Archer makes an offhand remark about how much he'll miss Pam after he finds the idol, Pam pesters him over what he meant by that, when he finally snaps:Archer: GODDAMNIT! Because! Pam! I'm currently up to my ears in quicksand! And before that, I flew here in a plane made out of literal garbage, and before that, my eyeball got shot out in Spain, and before that, I went bust on those goddamn chinchilladas! And the common denominator in every bad thing that's ever happened to me is YOU! And you know why?! Because the only two kinds of luck you have are bad and NONE because you are a JINX! And that idol is my ticket out of Loserville, population YOU!
- Skewed Priorities: Archer would rather die in quicksand than to send Crackers for help to his mother, because Archer doesn't want her to find out about the idol and spend all the money from it in front of him on her "boy toys."
